Discontinued miVape by Vaporfection

Just so Dab HAppy!
I think the taste is comparable to other portable vapes, like the Crafty/Mighty... IMO, it tastes pure and clean, usually without any foreign tastes mucking up the herb but the flavor isn't as strong, possibly because its such a smaller amount herb and sometimes when the herb sits or gets too hot, then it doesn't taste as good as the C/M. When the unit has been on for awhile, I can detect a little silicone taste probably coming from the bottom of the air intake where there is a piece of silicone tubing that connects the air intake holes with the glass vapor spiral and / or its coming from the seal around the cup/chamber but it's still good to me..... the ESV and same with the miVape but they both can also produce great tasting vapor and provide even heating too, IMO.

I can't speak on the Crafty/Mighty, but there is no way you can compare this to the ESV when referencing taste. I don't taste silicone in the ESV ever. I don't taste herb that has sat or gets to hot (conduction). The ESV provides two different arrays of taste...either pure delicious record of your herbs or combustion. There is no between with instant heat like the ESV.

I am also thinking that is part of MY particular problem with the taste produced by the miVape. I think of convection as instant heat to the herbs only upon draw. Regardless of the heater being instant or not, the hot air should be created far enough away from the herbs that they don't heat(conduct) and the instant the hot air hits the herbs they should cook(convect). This is what I expected from the miVape but it is not what happens. I use the Daisy at home and the ESV on the go. Both of these vapes provide true instant convection. Perhaps the reason they taste so good is because they are instant which eliminates the possibility of any conduction.

I will say, the miVape performs much better and can produce true convection if it was done slightly differently. I have used it the past two days with the 18to14 adapter. There is a picture a few posts up. This method provides true convection. I wait for the miVape to heat up and then I insert the adapter and get instant hits with great cloud production. I tend to run a temp of 335ish give or take 15 degrees as I am playing around with it still to find best results for flavor. I get pretty even medium-dark brown ABV except for the very backend is light brown typically. The taste is getting better but I still get something I'm not liking. I can see the white insulation behind the glass heating chamber is starting to yellow/brown ever so slightly.

Vapornation will not return or exchange a used vaporizer and I don't think they should have to. I am pissed off at myself for dropping as much money without doing more research first. I would love to hear feedback/responses to our posts from Dan to hear if he plans on furthering the progression on the miVape or not. If he does and he intends on using the suggestions from the FC community then great and I'm onboard. If not, I really just want to bury my head in sand since I can't get a refund.

@nosmoking that adapter your using , I assume the stock mivape mouth piece goes into the 18mm side adapter? is it 18 to 14 female to male? Im looking for that adapter to try your method, but so many different adapters to choose from lol? Possible link? Thanks in advance.

New member to this site, but been a lurker for a long time. Been vaping for 5 years + now. On my second mivape, got my replacement last week. Dan is a super guy and has spent much time on email and phone with me. I like most on here have my issues with the mivape. I currently use it at 320. I start at 330 and after a 2 draws got down to 320. It is starting to bother my breathing, I really feel once the final version of this unit comes out, it will rock. The idea is great and as it sits it really is a good portable if you fine tune it and dial in your loading, heating and draw technics.....
I believe Dan will get this unit right after some time. I guess I'm spoiled with the herbalizer unit as a desk top unit...
Great site here, much to learn.
Thanks .

The 14mm male side is what fits into the miVape. The diameter of the heat chamber is roughly 12mm so the very end of the taper just fits into the miVape. I would be careful if anyone else was to try this as there is risk of pushing the adapter in to far and damaging the heat chamber so keep this in mind.

This is the one I have...http://www.ebay.com/itm/18mm-Male-t...e-Glass-NEW-/281746432592?hash=item4199656250
But I just ordered this as it will allow me to use this with my bong or hydrotube...http://www.ebay.com/itm/111792471894?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Thank you for the links. I will be sure to be careful. So to clear my mind up here, your still using the oem mivape mouthpiece and glass cup? I guess my quetion is where are you putting the glass cup in this adapter?
I really appreciate your time as I'm trying to make this unit work for me.
Thanks again.

I do not use either the oem mouthpiece or glass cup. Toss them in the trash as far as I am concerned...don't really but I doubt I will ever use them again.

I shoved a screen in the adapter and load my herbs into the 14mm side of my adapter. Similar to how the Solo and Air are done. The Arizer stems might even work but I was too lazy to dig them out and try last night. Now I am kind of regretting not trying so it will probably be the first thing I do when I get home today.

I'm liking these glass suggestions. I was thinking the inner bowl could be changed to a female 14mm top section. Then have "mesh capsules" fit in the male 14mm mouth piece, put a 90 degree bend on the mp so it still can pivot into the unit. All glass except the mesh capsule. Hope words can explain my vision.

I understand where your going with that, would look nice and function as well.

On a side note, I still believe that when you find a temp , delivery and loading method that suits your personal preference , the mivape is an amazing unit and better than any portable Ive seen on the market.
I also tried a larger screen like in the previous posts in this thread , it seems to help a lot.

Kinda like the Zion...it's exactly what I was thinking too and hopefully Dan will hear us and make this happen.

I mean no offense, but this seems like a ridiculous statement. I'm just hoping you haven't seen much of the market because there are many great vapes out there and to say this is better than any disregards the quality expected from a vape at the price range of $250 let alone the ones that cost more.

Well I don't know if I've seen every unit, but over the years I've tried over 20 portable units, all claiming to be the best vape. Even though the mivape as it sits is.not agreeing with my lungs, I still believe as quality vapor it is the best portable unit I've tried. Like I said, it needs some improvements, but they all do.... jmo.

I have mixed feelings with this so far i am getting decent results especially when compared to my old vapes (firefly, solo, wispr, cera) ... Personally, I feel the portable vaporizer market is still a little ways off... Yes there are plenty good ones out there, that being said there a flaws that can be found with almost every one... There is no perfect vaporizer.

Ive been playing around with load amounts... A lighter packed cup definitely helps keep the taste going and reduces the darker bottom material...

Also using my new unit for a week (still think the inside quartz is cracked awaiting a replacement) i find the use a lot similiar to the thermovape Cera LL... Besides for my first use with the new unit, im getting insane taste with little to no clouds... As i keep puffing and drawing the hot air through it starts to produce vapor... And after about 8 minutes or so the unit starts to get real hot and i start getting that darker marerial on the bottom... If i had to hold
The button the whole time i would think it was the cera lol...

Hi @nosmoking,

What do you think of these?

That is exactly what I was looking for yesterday, If they are 14mm they should fit. The bottom of the taper should be dead on 12mm diameter. I like the little one as you may be able to find a way to make it fit in the top of the miVape and still be able to shut the door (I would use foam and carv it so the stem wouldn't move around of course) but the problem you may have with the short one is it may be shorter than the open door so your face would hit the open door when trying to get your mouth to the stem.

So as hard as I have been on this vaporizer, I do believe I mentioned that I feel it has lots of potential. I also believe that Dan is the stand up guy that he has been praised for in this thread by many others. Dan did reach out to me and he wants to start the RMA process already and work with me to make sure I am a satisfied customer. I won't go into details of what he offered to resolve my situation, however I will say his response and options of resolution were more than satisfactory.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to take Dan up on any of his options of resolution. I lost the miVape to the unjust cause of prohibition yesterday on my afternoon drive home. I think with the above pieces the PeteSeattle has posted the miVape will be greatly improved in performance and taste. I was starting to enjoy my setup quite a bit with the glass adapter I was using. There still was a slight off taste, and I had to make sure not to hold the miVape in certain places because I would do 2-3 sessions at 8 min back to back pretty much. It would get uncomfortable to hold directly surrounding the heat chamber but not hot enough to burn. The other issue which would obviously be redesigned if Dan pursues an all glass mouthpiece is the door for the miVape. With a straight glass mouthpiece you cannot shut the door for the mouthpiece so it must stay open. It did not get in my way or bother me, however it might get in the way of ones face if the mouthpiece gets any shorther than mine was as I mentioned above.

Anyways, I probably won't post as much in this thread without a miVape anymore but I wish you all the best with your miVape experience!

I'm so sorry to hear that! What state do you live in? It's a privilege of living in Colorado that's so easy to forget about. Here's hoping that the future comes to a state near you soon!

Virginia. The East coast just isn't picking up what the West is serving yet. We apparently are not ready for the truth. This is why I feel so strongly about Issue 3 passing in Ohio. It is not only close enough for me to drive to, but more importantly I believe it will truly kickstart the repeal of prohibition on the east coast but all that is a topic for another thread...

Dan is a really stand up guy. I just talked to him on the phone and he is still finding ways to help me out which is incredible. He has also mentioned that he and the engineers at Vaporfection have read all of our comments and that they will be addressing the concerns in the future. Dan made it sound like I was helping them out by pointing out concerns and looking for solutions. I thought I was just being an ass like I usually am.

@nosmoking I wanted to thank you again for the tips on the mivape and sorry to hear of your loss.
As a 43 resident of Ohio , I feel ya about prohibition , although the issue 3 is reall nothing more than a legalized cartel , but at least it would be legal. It does appear we will pass, the pre count is at 82 % or something like that. Should you head to Ohio , let me know...
Thanks again for all your info.

I've been ripping the miVape lately and I am getting good results, much more even heating. I found that it is soooo important that your herbs are completely dry and they will vape soooo much more easily and fully, otherwise you may still have some green at the end of your session because there is moisture/water in your herb and you don't want vapor from the water/moisture in your herb, you want the vapor from the active ingredients. It also helps to have your herb evenly ground fine, packed with a little room in the cup and you should get good results. Ya'll probably know all this but at least the drying part was news to me at least in the sense that it really makes a difference in the vapor and extraction. I have been liking 355F and its been uniformly browned and I get really nice clouds and full flavor.

Okay so just an update, i was getting much better results with the replacement mivape with the broken quartz over the weekend...

I asked dan if it would be okay to stress test it while awaiting the replacement... I am quite surprised at the results... I have not been gentle to say the least... Basically my test just included tossing the mivape a foot or two in the air from a standing postition and letting it fall to the ground (hard wood floor, tiles floors and concrete) a few throws even had me holding my breath there are some dings in the plastic but the quartz hasnt gotten any worse, and the unit is still working... I have videos of these tests i just need to upload hopefully in the next couple days...

Ive also been getting more even abv with lighter packs and not packing it down and making sure the screen on the mouthpiece is clean to promote even airflow...

I asked dan to test the new unit before they mailed it to make sure there would be no issues this time and it just arrived...gonna sesh it up and will post my findings shortly

Update: First session with new replacement incredible! The first replacement i was getting amazing taste to start that dropped off after a couple minutes and turned real harsh and abv was always real dark especially darker at the bottom (pictured left, green leaves are unvaped shake i threw in the vaped bag)

Pictured right is the first session with the new unit, filled almost full but not packed down at all... Set to 350F for 8 minutes... Vapor started after 5-6 puffs and continued the whole session and taste never dropped off...

First session abv still in cup no more darker bottom material

nice lookin results mynameismud!

To those of you who have the miVape: have you tried concentrates yet? If so what kind and what was your experience?

I have had great results with both wet and dry extracts. using the wax clothes and / or a small modified steel mesh pad work great for wetter extracts and I got amazing results with dryer extracts just sitting in the bottom of the cup. I think the cups work especially well for concentrates because the bottom of the cup gets especially hot which aids in the vaporization via conduction and is boosted up with the true convection.
