Discontinued Zion vaporizer

Nice to see a video go up and it looks super nice. Not overly happy with the fact we can't get one of theses in the uk as RBT won't ship outside the US I do understand why with regard the warranty, EC regs etc but that's of little comfort to me as I really want one, any work around planned for the longer term?

I can't see much going wrong with the unit as the electronics look pretty simple so I wouldn't be bothered to attempt to return it even if the worse should happen. Wondering if one or some of our US friends would be willing and able to help us EU and Canadian folks out by Sending them on if RBT isn't willing to do so (again I understand why no offence intended on the shipping front)

Maybe you can try to go with services like shipito/bonvu/parcel2me etc. ?

I'm lucky being an early pre-order when int. shipping was still offered. Think I would go that way otherwise...

Seriously though, I would send one overseas as a gift or whatever as long as it's legal.

Now that is Zion smooth!

Truly beautiful, looking forward to Pak's thoughts and trying out the latest heater configuration for myself soon enough!

Good luck and keep it up RBT!

@Tommy10 vapor dug out is my dream for an eventual single batt mini Zion, still keep it a square but have one corner where a second battery would be serve as a deep stash spot. Though having the stash in the lid is a pretty brilliant use of space, keeps the full dual battery power! Just need some kinda divider to store both greens and then the browns for cooking later... Hmmm

@anasrzi hang in there bud, it will definitely happen. It's the certification that's the issue, the first 50 are the pilot production run, so they were able to be international since they're status is slightly different. The full production run will need CE certification etc for intl shipping, but it is a priority and will happen I assure you. You may get one of the manual unit's sooner, since the first 50 orders for those are still filling up, so that may be the best way to tide you over while you wait for the flagship to finally make it your way...

Thanks for the response guys I'm sure it will work out someway and end up in my doorstep in the future, there's always a work around if you try hard enough. For the short term I'm happy with the lotus and once the production ramps up I'll see what can be done to get one over here, so is RBT in the process of getting the CE stuff sorted?

Cheers again for helping a fellow vaped brother out guys, made my day that has

Can someone explain this from the FAQ? Specifically the last sentence..

Did you get my order because I only received a Paypal receipt?

Yes, if you received a Paypal receipt we have our order. An email should come along shortly that will have your serial number on it so that you can know when to expect your Zion. We will not be issuing a tracking number until a week after a package in not received.

Hey hey Zionistas! :)

Thought I'd post a quick little update to say just how well these two have been playing together of late . . .

A match made in heaven!

I do keep getting greedy though - I turn it up way too high & draw for far, far too long . . . with obvious consequences . . . .

It's easy to do with a bubbler imo, but luckily the Zion is a piece of cake to refresh after such an occurrence!

I WILL get that vapor milk shot! :myday:

Keep the faith you lot.

Our vape future is in the making . . . . . . and together we'll make history!

Sexy vid @RastaBuddhaTao! Loving the little tweaks to the body, and that stir stick/poker looks perfect.

It's funny you mention the hands @HD Springer. I kept thinking "hands of awe" because the slow turning had a caressing quality like someone in awe of what he's seeing. It worked for me. Well, not that way. I mean, I'm not saying I was turned on by it or anything. It's not like I got wood over it. You can't prove nothing.

When, or if, will this be available to Canada? Vaporizers are legal in Canada and ship freely across the border and USPS is both reliable and inexpensive.

One mans grossness is another mans goodness. A very sick and twisted man mind you. I love the fact that we can at least agree on the object behind the hands. And what those hands are capable of producing.
Oh hell I think I might of just changed my mind on those hands. Oh that damned abiding dude gets me every time.

ah ha ha... I am just focused on trying to move the Zion so you all can get a good view :)

I will do some short focused vids and explain the details... like that stir stick with hand hammered blade. Promise I will make it less creepy... well it is that time of year.

So, Mr Peanut and I have been chasing vapor perfection for months. Through all of beta work I was not able to match the vapor quality of the 2X4. Sure, the beta's looked nicer but the 2X4 owners continued to insist that they first heaters I built where the best... until now.

The majority of the recent delay was due to Mr. Peanut and I working over 100 hours to test and perfect the heater. We tested over 20 heater configurations with Mr. P directing if I was getting better or worse. So now we have a few trade secrets and know the critical variables that need to be controlled to deliver "Zion Quality Vapor".

We expect the Beta team to notice an improvement in vapor quality over their existing beta units. I will let Mr. Peanut give more detail on the "Zion Vortex" that has plagued us behind the scene for so long. I, for one, am just so relived to have finally figure our the riddle that had alluded me for so long.

So we now have perfected the Zion heater in unit number 1 and have validated it (after some termoil) in unit number two which will ship to @pakalolo tomorrow... and at the end of this journey I am tired, gratified, and thrilled to deliver the first production quality unit to the cornerstone member of the Beta team. Many thanks to Pak for his wisdom and guidance through this process!

Now, with production design understood and under way we will turn our attention back to our lifetime customers to answer there questions and request and bring everyone up to speed. To start here is the latest working draft of our FAQs page... lets us know what else you would like to see.

Orders and Shipping

If I order a Zion today what is the estimated ship date?

If you place an order for a Zion today we estimate that you would receive it between 12/21/2015 - 2/15/2016

If I ordered a Zion already when should I expect it to be shipped?

The first 25 units will be start shipping in October and into November. In December we will start to ramp to full production with a 200 unit build. We will be releasing a Zion shipping calendar on our web site to keep people up to date on shipments.

Will you be shipping units outside of the USA?

The Zion will not be shipped outside of the US due to the cost of shipping, customs and international safety certification requirements. The only shipments planned outside the US are the 50 beta units of the single and manual battery units for development purposes. Some of our customers may choose to use a third party shipping company, however RastaBuddhaTao does not recommend this as an option due to potential future warranty complications.

How do I get a refund?

We understand that sometimes folks changes their minds... but we look forward to serving you again in the future. To get a refund simply complete the form on our refund page to provide us with your Paypal information and we will refund you in less than 5 days.

Can I add / delete things from my current order.

Sure, we will be emailing folks a week prior to shipment to ensure that the order is correct and see if you need any mouthpieces, screens, batteries or a charger.

Did you get my order because I only received a Paypal receipt?

Yes, if you received a Paypal receipt we have your order. An email will be sent soon that will have your serial number on it so that you can track when your Zion ships. USPS tracking numbers will be emailed to you once we ship your Zion.

Sales and Marketing

Can I become a RastaBuddhaTao distributor?

We are currently in talks with multiple online and brick and mortar wholesalers. Once we evaluate our options and decide if a retail path other than the RBT store we will be sure to let folks know if we plan to sell direct to retail outlets.

What is covered in the lifetime warranty?

The lifetime warranty covers the unit against flaws in workmanship that lead to a failure. It does not cover failures caused by abuse / use outside of the manufactures recommendations. The nature of the failure will be determined based on the input received on the claims form. Nearly all glass breakage is caused by an impact and a flaw in workmanship is nearly impossible to determine. For these reasons we will warranty the glass with a “no questions asked” 30 day warranty. All warranty returns will be “in kind” in that the customer pays the shipping one way and RBT will pay for the shipping on the return. Please allow 2 – 3 weeks for a warranty repair.

Technology and Design

Will the Zions be made from one solid piece of wood?

The Zions will be made from randomly selected pieces of maple with no attention payed to grain matching other than the orientation of the grain. Each set of Zion parts will be precision fit and hand sanded for a perfect matched set.

Biting my nails and crossing my fingers hoping I've sneaked my way into this. Ever since October has rolled around I find myself mindlessly refreshing my page just to see if there's any alerts from this thread.

So how often do you need to change screens with the Zion? And how many come with it? Just want to figure out how many to add to my order when it's time... And any word on what stems will come with the purchase?

Hey @fyx :)

I actually made a post two pages back (p124) regarding screens - I've been using and torching clean the same screen that I've used around five times a day for over three months now.

Admittedly it's looking pretty tired and it is finally starting to lose it's shape, but it's still workable.

And if you were to be even more careful than me, I am sure you could extend the life of your screens further still.

The Beta team is behind the scenes determining what is included with the Zion as we speak. They already have me talked into giving you all an extra stem and screens... I guess you guys are worth it

RBT will see you right - I think you will probably get at least four screens as standard along with two glass stems - one long and one standard. You may be given the option to change this for a shorty stem or whatever combination of two stems you desire because, as RBT has already mentioned, you will be contacted prior to shipping to comfirm your order, make any necessary adjustments and also give you the opportunity to add extra screens, stems, batteries etc. if you wish.

I hope this helps you to extrapolate your screen/stem order requirements

Have a great weekend everybody.

LOVE!

Anyone find a line on good quality US 18 mm adapters? I'm having trouble finding one. I ordered one last week and the inner diameter is way too narrow to work. The option of a double ended stem at purchase would be nice.

Edit, post number 100, wahoo!

@HD Springer Kudos. Couldn't agree more.
From personal experience customers are never actually fully aware of everything that needs to be done to produce a fully working ready for sale unit of any kind. It's not just the externals that need honing but also the internals. It's not as if all the parts are 'off the shelf'.
IMO RBT has been working harder than any of us realize and tired is probably a huge understatement. Every day we all get one step closer to seeing the finished product. They may only be small steps but never the less steps.
No matter how tired the adrenaline will be flowing as the time approaches for the delivery man to collect and deliver out brand spanking Zions.
Still not jumping on board as the form doesn't fit my needs and I wouldn't want to insult RBT by stripping a Zion and building a new body that suits me.
I am itching to get my hands on some 'on demand pure convection'
Soon the option may be available and the wait won't kill me.
Just to clarify, the design of this and the dual are being worked in parallel with the Zion production rollout.
This put a huge smile on my face but also brought home how much work RBT is actually doing.

Got to get a video of your wicked looking setup @VegNVape its exactly the setup I was thinking of running for both a lotus WPA and a Zion (if I can get hold of one in the future, let's hope so) even down to the Mobius glass you've got, had that piece saved for months over at dh gate looks ideal for my purposes. Seen a sweet looking 18mm to 14mm staggered glass piece so I can use it with my cheap bubbler too, things are falling into place nicely I feel :)

Great to see RBT cracking ahead and keeping us all informed on what's happening at HQ

With regards to my order, I had considered adding a long stem so I had all three. That would be cool.

As for my screens, normally I would rinse them in hot water and a quick soak in alcohol. I just started using a brush like the one you get with electric shavers on my odd shaped screens. It works great; I haven't had to soak them at all.

Looking at the screen on the Zion, I would consider buying a plastic bristle brush like the one that comes with the wire brushes. Definitely doesn't wear the screen away.

Also, I am horrified that you burn your screens. I do that with screens used for smoking, but not for vaporizer screens.
