Hello all you Vapmaniacs!!
I was messing around in my garage with the Vapman last night when a giant light bulb went off over my head. I looked at my "Thermovape smooth flow" filter and thought how nice it would be attached to my Vapman. Well a 11/32" bit in the drill press and Voilà!:science:

What do you guys think?

That's awesome.

I really like the contrast of metal and wood. Does it get warm at all compared to the standard mouthpiece?

The metal does get warm but never hot or even unpleasant. The black Delrin tip stays cool.

looks like I'll be doing some web searching for a new mouthpiece

You may have some luck placing an add in the FC classifieds. Besides that I think "flea bay" might be the only option. After some searching I found only two sellers with the "smooth-flow filter". Guy #1 is in Australia so he might be a good option for some but shipping to the US doubles the price.

If in US the best option is from the seller Vaporenvy. He had a vapor shop in Florida but it looks like he closed it and now sells on E-bay. He has a lot of "new/old stock" of Thermovape items.

*And finally just to be clear I have no relation or connection to Vaporenvy. Just trying to help a brother out...or sister, Hi @Seren

Happy Vaping!!!

So last night I had 3 bowls back to back and the metal of the mouth piece got pretty hot. The black delrin got warm and was ok but at one point my lip touched the metal and it burned, not enough to cause a blister or anything but it got pretty hot.

Next I'm hoping to counter sink the mouth piece far enough so the Vapman will fit in it's egg.
I'll post pictures if it works:rockon:and maybe even if it doesn't:cry:.

 Hello coming back at ya @VAPEHUNTER :)

I'm loving your mod! - it's awesome! People have mentioned before that the Vapman has a steampunk look about it - I think your mod takes that up a notch or two. Good luck with the adaptions - looking forward to seeing the pics.

Viva la Vapman!! :)

Okay, good news / bad news / good news:mental:.

Good news- It worked. I re-drilled the mid section at 3/8" and then drilled with the 11/32" and the mouthpiece fits great and the Vapman once again fits in its egg:clap:.

Bad news- I took it outside to give it the "scorch treatment", it's raining today here in Vegas and I believe the added moisture in the air made the wood expand. So time to bore it out just a little bit to compensate for moisture....CRACK:ugh:. Yup it developed a hair line crack half way down one side.

Good news- The mouth piece is air tight. I'm pretty sure the o-ring is doing its job so I'm gonna use it as long as I can before the crack goes too far. Its all good though for only 20 bucks shipped I'm gonna pick up another mid section from @Mojo.

burned lips on a mouthpiece, for a moment I thought I was on the Grasshopper thread... I love the look of the wood/metal combo, not that Vapman doesn't already have that, but the mod looks great. thanks for the mouthpiece link. I'm thinking of carving an original design stem as well. stay tuned

Love it! A bit of 'inside vape humor' a tiny fraction of mankind can appreciate.......and I'm in that fraction....

Then again, you know it's not the GH thread, you can order a VM and get it this year........

Thanks, that's made my day. Maybe even the weekend?

Thanks OF, as a VERY long time lurker, you have educated and entertained me for years. It's nice to give back. And don't forget GHL is " ramping up " production, they'll be shipping grasshoppers by the thousands soon. just ask them...;)

Hi guys and girls of course.its been a while and seeing as it's looking like a weekend of Vapman mods.i decided to post and add to the fun.

This is the eggmag mod:D i carried out to increase stealth capabilities when transporting Vapman.it can be stuck just about anywhere and was designed for vehicle transport in our current scenario:p
It can easily fit to any internal steel subframe of a vehicle or even under the hood, that's a bonnet in UK or Aus.
It doesn't affect the integrity of the egg as the magnet can be sealed into the base with any silico elastic to keep the egg waterproof.

Lastly my favourite way to Vape currently with or without water..the Vapman with the orbiter.the can/ball size is perfect for vapor to air flavour retention.the orbiter in walnut ties in nicely with the Vapman.
I modified/tapered the mid section of the vapman slightly to match the angle of the internal female 14mm gong.

to @Nugg ..sorry to hear about your episode earlier in the week.another example of interference that isn t neccesary.the good folks here on FC I guess need to know there is a massive clampdown on ice here in Australia which is ruining communities left right and centre.it really is a scourge and is out of control.Youre visit by the folks in blue is unrelated but I guess a result of that.Sorry to hear they singled You out brother .happy to hear they were polite and went on their way.it doesn t always go that way here.at worst You can always pick up an orbiter here in Australia :)

I'm glad to hear, that now you got also in the US a easy, payable way to recieve replacement parts.

I also love the look and the function of this special mouthpiece. Maybee it could be a attractiv idea for an upgrade, purpose-built into the wooden middelpart from René. ;-)

And if the black mouthpart would be also of wood, whow, that would be magic. :D
How about the cleaning?

They are rare earth magnets so quite strong.i took my vm for a spin before breakfast:D

Never tried the vapman with water. Would it be the same ritual as hitting it dry or is it more like the lotus where you light while taking your draw? Thanks.

It's exceptional with water..can be used either way but I use it like the lotus.

I will leave comments re: glass for others to chime in but my technique Using VM with the orbiter as a Jhook is Heating and slow inhale after 3 seconds or so...heating the gold cone in tiny circles or static works too for 7 seconds initially and 3 second bursts of heat once it's hot to achieve the magic..little circles seem to distribute the heat into the load a little better.the hits are big too as has been seen in earlier vids here.

i pull the heat just as its milking the glass.hits are thick and I can manage later hits right on the edge of combustion to feel fully medicated.i haven't had any issues using my Classic this way.You can also Palm the top of Vapman after heating which seems to help too.

no waiting around for vapes to heat up or looking for batteries anymore is good and I have found i conserve so much with the Vapman.one 10ml brown glass vial of Meds from the MFLB finishing grinder could keep me going for a week with constant evening, weekend use and my Vape footprint in my home is tidy and not noticeable.

Small conduction hits with a little convection are Medicine and the Vapman with the orbiter excels at that.

Have a go.its all Vapor.

Hope that helps!

I'm looking to hook my VM up to glass. Tired of my beer can setup...although it does work. In my situation I need to limit myself to a small glass piece that I can stash away. I'm considering buying a small bubbler from a head shop or possibly making my own waterpipe out of a small glass bottle and buying a downstem and grommet apart.

MY QUESTION:

Anyone know if a vapman would fit into a 12mm glass downstem? Like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lot-5-12mm-...042634?hash=item280a551f8a:g:hd8AAOSwVL1WEKnw

Btw, what is the best size downstem for a vapman to fit into with just the middle piece as is? What is the best way or silicone material to use to make a seal (where would you get it)?

Great video @u bwade wunner ! Would love to see if it could be placed on the fan blades but I wouldn't want it to fly through a window haha. I reckon the Vapman egg could take a beating though if it had to :brow:.

@Stu - great pic! Off topic but that is one skinny UD you've got there. Holy shit.

Never fancied using the Vapman through water, thought it might lose something in the process. Intimacy maybe, or fine temperature adjustments. Hell, I take most loads pretty close to combustion, I don't think I could do that through a piece cause it's such a fine line to walk...

I like your Orbiter setup. That looks like a really ideal setup, although it might be a bit pricy for me at this time. Out of curiosity what is the glass stem you use as a mouthpiece? Is that an Underdog Stem? And what other connecting pieces/silicone do you use in that setup?

I don't use my vapman with water very often. But every once it a while I get a wild hair and just start fucking around with stuff. I blame it on marijuana.

The log in the picture is actually an HI. But I've seen some pretty skinny UDs coming out recently. I prefer the heat characteristics from thinner logs, but as you mentioned it's kinda off topic for this thread.

Yep I tried that...and it hit the mirrored wardrobe.luckily no Vapmen were hurt.

It's a pretty good choice with the vapman and not so expensive really for US glass.I bought it when the glass had a lifetime warranty but there is a restock fee to replace it......just once so far

its extremely stable too and wood accents, the small can and viewing angle make it a good choice for vapman.its a snip to use without combusting.
it is a snip to clean also.see below.

The mouthpiece is an 11mm ebway test tube using a piece of 3/8 bore silicone folded over itself to make a grommet to sandwich it to a glass 14mm straight male hose connecter.

So I've cut the bottom off a test tube and flame polished it to make it the mouthpiece.

This is the mp I would like to get for the orbiter from@Oregonglassblower .

I have gone off trumpet MPs and prefer flat tip MPs right now after trying different types.

the narrow bore of that obg piece being minimal interests me too...less dilution of flavour and more taste.i am already losing flavour adding vapor to the airstream of the can so I'm looking to balance things out.

I will leave this here.its my cleaning setup.plus an extra pic of the viewing angle of the vapman heater while using the orbiter.

2pyoo41.jpg

PBW and 2 mins in a microwave is all You need for cleaning

You may ask why I don't just sit down and enjoy a session with vapman native.i don't always have that luxury.I enjoy a sit down sesh when possible.....usually though I'm either far too busy or being silly.;)

Hopefully, someone can help me out. Would a vapman fit comfortably into a 14mm downstem? I know that @Stu put up a pic, but I can't tell if the vapman is lodged inside or just sitting on top. would a 14mm downstem connection attached to a bottle work? This is what I'm considering: http://www.ebay.com/itm/161862458301?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Would it be better to buy an 18mm and maybe some mflb silicone to wrap around the middle section to create a seal? Does mflb silicone tubing have enough give to cut a piece and wrap it around the middle section? Is there a better option?

Mine works just fine in several 14mm connectors. The ring at the top of the mid section (where it seals) is 14.4mm on the VM I just measured.

From the looks of it that downstem should work fine, provided it mates with the WT.

Thanks @OF.
I'm planning to try to mate it with a beer bottle or other small bottle and a grommet. Hopefully that will work out.

Yer welcome.

I know that one, I once survived a field assignment in a strange land with local weed and a single glass downstem one of the other guys had the presence of mind to bring ('hey, it's just a glass tube of some kind they asked me to bring to the job site....'). We poked a hole in the side of a plastic water bottle about mid point. The stem went in and was poked into 'the bottom corner'. Later versions included tape to hold it in place. We'd keep the bottle and exchange the stem. Fun times.

Good luck with your adventures.
