Sooo... im gonna be in a pickle in a couple months with traveling for a few days, and i realized that its an excuse to get some goodies i wont be worried about losing. Anyone running an alpha globe on a 510 with a donut? I want sooooo badly to bring my herc and nibbler, but i dont wanna take the risks of it flying with me. I am envisioning a cheap reliable 510 box/mod and an alpha donut + backup. Any thoughts on those who have flown with their gear?

OV has some really cheap mods that can power the Kiss AC. Check out their site/thread.

I've always just brought brand new KISS carts with me when I have to travel. That way they are completely clean (until used) and at $10-$15 a cart they are disposable without too much regret. It's not my favorite way to vape but it seems safest.

@coffinoff Thanks. I assumed it wasn't a firecracker-to-the-face waiting to go off but I sort of get weirded out when a company won't assure me their device won't explode in my face. But no risk, no reward, right? lol

So the 8 is going cheap on oilvaporizer.com. I believe 90-ish. Persei Ti Series on w9tech's site is going for 133 currently. Not sure about further discounts at either location.

If I had to choose between an 8 for 90 or Persei for 133, how do I go about evaluating the pro's and con's at that point? It's not clear to me what I can or can't achieve with one vs the other whether voltage/wattage or otherwise.

Also, why would I pick an 8 over another reputable mod? Are there key features I should be looking for in a mod? I don't wanna derail the thread but it's related to their products so I figure this is the place to be told how w9 is the way to go for this and why.

I do appreciate the gen 3 carts, but i dont get along with my touch button. Im looking at a couple decent vw models, or an 8, but i would much rather have a 510 alpha globe with the rebuildable donuts layin around than yet another kiss cart to toss. @elmoe420 i hope youre not referring to throwaway batteries as mods and im missing a tab? Theres a moderately priced invader mini and a sexy lookin 8... how many people here prefer 3.7 over 7.4v alpha donuts?

The 8 is a side fire mech mod and as such has a bit more of a learning curve as there's more to adjust but once you get the hang of the adjustments it's a very solid mod but as with any non regulated device there is a bit more risk than if you use a regulated device with protection built in

Has anyone tried the sr-74x (0.8 ohm back rod) with a temperature control mod? I am thinking this could be an awesome combo. To be honest, I am at the point where it is temp control or nothing for me and would love to see all carts subohm.
YES I have the uptech 8 mod that I prefer to use 2x 18350 rather than a single 18650. Recently I bought a Segelei 75w Temp Control box mod LOVE IT WORKS GREAT TOGETHER! It does not allow me to adjust the actual temp of the Hurc it allows for a lot of fin tuning the power out put the ohm's change as materials coils or ceramic heat and cool with a temp control mod I can constantly very quickly and easily adjust my power output. If I bought one today just for the Hercules I'd get the Segelei 150w TC that extra battery for power and longevity would be well worth it. The 75w is a nice size and works with all of my uptech devices especially the KISS plenty of power for the Hurc just keep a back up batt. Keep in mind these coils and rods can be burnt out using to many watts start low and slow burning out a $30 coil head or ceramic rod on the first fire always a bummer and we've all done it. These new TC mods let you find and maintain firing on the sweet spot. Hope this helped. Enjoy.

Yes that is what I was referring to. They are cheap and throwaway but I thought that was the idea for your trip? Anything better than that and I think you'd be sad if you had to chuck it or it got confiscated.

I was looking at some *cheap(er)* fasttech options... i have plenty of 18350s that have pledged their allegiance to travel even in the face of confiscation/theft/loss. Another reason i dont wanna risk my finnicky v4, no herc back up for my hammertop if it gets caught. For the same price as the throwaway bundle im set with a smaller mod with vw, even if its half assed and not accurate, i didnt lose anything by not going with the stick.

I'm really on the edge about ordering the Herc Sr-74 with the persei , but I'm fearful after reading about everything that it's extremely complicated. I've only ever had a Micro G pen before and that was simple but the whole experience was lackluster. Would you guys recommend going this route or going for a pre-built. I'm here because the Herc / Persei seem like truly quality products and I would hate to pay the money only to be totally lost once it gets here! Thank you in advance.

Read this thread good, read the instructions good, look up youtube videos.
All your questions you could answer yourself if you just do a little research.

the hercules was THE reason i adopted the w9 line. I cant tell you how many portable vapes and atomizers i threw away in the years leading up to its birth. i regret wasting so much money and fresh lung tissue on everything less. once you dial it in, youll have a feel for it and know it like it was an appendage of your own body. I have yet to not drop any 'hardcore dabber' that dared to laugh at my 'pen' with the herc.

if youre going for just the herc, grab a hammer top while you can!!!

My last 2 cents on Delta 9 vapes.
After almost 2 months since I placed my order they still have not delivered the correct item.
They do not reply to emails unless Gary steps in.
So buyer beware with delta 9.
Just wanted everyone to know so no one gets there money stolen like I did.

The hammer top is a toggle switch meaning you push the button and it stays on for 2 full minutes or until you press it again it pairs with the herc pretty good but you have to remember the herc requires you to feather the power roughly 3-6 seconds on/off to get the best results and preserve flavor

Edit: the black hammer tops will not be back in stock the hammer tops have been discontinued and the hammer function was added to the v4 tops

Anyone know the teqnique for screw adjustment on the bottom mechanical insulater on the sr 74 x ? I'm talking about the black piece that goes between the cart and the persei top. My old one was gold pins and this new one has a screw on top and bottom. Can't get it to work Any links to screw adjustment directions ? Thanks

You just need a flathead screwdriver loosen the bottom screw 1/4 turn and test the connection again if it's really tight you might need 2 screwdrivers one to hold the top screw the second to back out the bottom

Any more info? I can fire the herc with no insulater but can't get it adjusted right to get it working with it ?

If you build a mech box mod I'd look into using mosfet protection so the safety is built into the box you wouldent be able to fit the w9 protection circuit into the battery clip anyway

Something like this should be good but you would want the battery's to be in series instead of parallel

@lonelyhero i came across the mosfet idea just after i posted... however, i am building my own box from the ground up completely, not just a box kit, so i can have room if need be if popping that chip in and out is an easier/better idea than the mosfet. Will the mosfet die and need replacing if i blow it?
