Alfa Vaporizer by goboof

So I am also new, however I am still on the fence about ordering. I like the compact and discreet look of the alfa, but I already own a flowermate and was thinking about getting something a bit more on demand. Would an alfa (which from what I know is significantly higher quality) be ok for semi on demand (2-4 hits) or should I get a mflb or firefly type of vape instead? This would be something that I would use for outdoor use (think camping/snowboarding) so I'd like it to be rugged and quick, I don't want to have to commit to a 20 minute session where afterwards I'm to faded to function.

If this is the wrong place to ask I'm sorry, still trying to figure this place out.

Well, I hope I'm not stepping on any toes, but I find your question perfect for this forum. People here
talk about this stuff all the time. You get lots of ideas, and then you can decide,

I love the Arizer Air (or even better, the Solo). I personally have the Air, and I love it b/c it's pretty much idiot-proof. It's straight forward, and even though it's one button does all, it's not complicated. I've given up on vapes that have one button running the show/ How is someone enjoying a vape going to remember how many clicks does what. Anyway, this is simple, but elegant, in design. No bells. no whistles. Since I'm a natural-born ripper, I had to learn the fine art of sipping with this vape. Not hard.

Biggest drawback is the size of the bowl. You can't fill it to the top b/c it won't do the convection that way. So you can pack it tight, and I end up putting a small screen on top of the material and pushing down on it. Then you have to draw as if you were smoking a cigar, which I have never done.

This is a great vape, but you have to refill it often. The good thing is that it's easy if you keep some ground material & an adequately sized container available. Super easy to clean. Just keep ios, Q-tips, and pipe cleaning amount. A little brush to clean the oven is good, too.

My second fave for the situation you describe is the alfa. You can get more stuff in the bowl if you pack down & use the "sandwich method," i.e., a screen on the bottom and a screen on the top. You can load it if you have the spoon end of a Slurpee. You can also use the straw as a tamp to pack the load.

I like to include the glass pipe on the MFLB inside of the Alfa mouth piece. The draw was better somehow. But it's a pain if you're out camping trying to keep up with a small glass tube.

Good luck making your choice.

Hey thanks for the recommendation. I was looking at the air, but I think if I got a vape like that I'd rather go full convection like the zion. I'm interested in convection but the look and use of the alfa just looks so sexy. I'll definitely keep the arizer vapes in mind though.

Ugh, every time I think I've made my decision I'll see some post that makes me so excited for the other vape that I just end up in the same situation as before. The alfa is just so sleek and discreet but the unregulated zion is so elegantly beautiful and simple. Maybe I'll just buy all the vapes and this won't be an issue...

I feel your pain, Too bad I can't read. I began with a Micro G. Figured out there was a much better way to do this. Kept trying to save money, but the thing is that the cheaper ones just waste your money in the long run. So, yeah. I went a little nuts after someone gave me a MFLB. Wasn't a big leap to find out what's what here on this forum.

I ended up with three good vapes, but one was free (PAX 2 -- it was a good day). They are all the same, but just enough different to warrant more than one. It took me a few months and some creative financing, but I am really loving all of them for different reasons. It's like having three cool shirts to wear to a party.

The biggest thing I learned was that you may need to learn a different kind of draw. Each is a tiny bit different. But the most obvious difference from when I was using a glass pipe to where I am now. I learned of ""rippers" and "sippers." I am a die-hard ripper, learning now to be a sipper. It's hard to break old habits!

If you enjoy the look of the Alfa, then that matters. I love mine. The sandwich method, packed tightly, really is the best. If you're using it at an event, though, you may be a while in the bathroom getting the abv stuff out and the new stuff in. Requires a little tool & a pipe cleaner. Just something to consider. It's great around the house, though.

dropped my alfa onto a hard floor, any signs to tell me it's damaged? Really gutted tbh. How can i check it? Had it sitting on my lap off as i was done with it and forgot it was there and stood up and it went flying.

I have no words to help you, but I felt it like a dagger when I read about what happened. I would be really
upset! :( It's a tough little unit; maybe you'll get off with a warning.

hey fellows,
i keep loving the alfa more and more... it's just perfect to take outside with you and this little thing is very efficient: these days i haven't got much herbs left so i'm trying to save as much as i can. therefore i'm avoiding the plenty which i feel needs a liuttle more quantity to work as great as that machine is capable of.
so the alfa is the choice at home as well, couse it works great even with tiny amounts. ;)
@jazzbass and others who asked: i found the perfect mouthpiece to pair the alfa with. it's the plenty's mouthpiece, with the longer rubber tube it fits perfectly into the alfa's MP and it really cools down, you vape at mid as if it was low. it's plastic and rubber, so it's not fragile and doesn't spoil the stealth of the alfa ;)
i'll post a picture tomorrow!
tastewise glass is surely better, but not so conveniente for the on the go use to me.

cheers!

Vapes R Great
Well I was trying to decide between this and the HipVap and I ended up pulling the trigger on a Alfa and a flowermate mini after speaking with Randy. My only other vape at the moment is a arizer air. Excited to try this bad boy. I had started combusting too much lately so I'm trying to get back fully aboard the vape train!

ok i seem to be getting a much browner final product now, the herb is looking brown like tobacco whereas before it would sometimes still have a touch of green but it wouldn't give me anymore.

A lot more vapour production too, it's giving lots of vapour whereas before it was there but weaker and not as consistent, i almost feel like dropping it has improved it lol.

I have started using a grinder for the first time recently, i used it once before i dropped it and it improved the experience a little, but now its like a different vape.

Can't be much combustion going on because that usually gives me a tonsil infection [why i had to stop smoking]. Any ideas? it could just be the grinder and a bit of paranoia on my part. Can someone post a picture of their spent herb so i can see the hue? I don't have a camera.

It's coming out a rich, dark, toasty brown, like rich coffee or tobacco.

Cheers all.

I think it’s the use of the Grinder, that's giving you better ABV. It's essential for getting the most out of it. I also dump it out and reload about 3 times, to get every last bit of vapor out.

decided on buying an alfa after doing my research and reading reviews. dont know if its because ive been spoiled with my desktop S&B plenty unit but i am not impressed with this units vapor quality. pros: its battery life is great, its the perfect size, shape, lightweight, startup time is quick and maintenance a breeze. but as far as quality i found it too hot and harsh. mouthpiece got way too hot. loading and unloading is a pain. wish i'd paid double and got a crafty.

Still have my eye on this one, but have some concerns about reliability and support just based on reading some of this thread. I have a Solo on the way, but that's for home use........ What do you think @SWG? Does the Alfa stand up to the Mighty?

biohacker,
stopped smoking months ago just got used to my flowermate and kinda love it can someone tell me if this alpha by goboof will increase my smoking expirience or shall i stick with flowermate?

my flowermate has no temp control but i still get clouds i just dont like the long draws i have to take?

it will increase your pleasure for sure (except you have to find a workaround for the mouthpiece that I find too hot, I'm currently using teflon 510 drip tip in the alfa, will post picture later), but I'm not sure it will increase a lot your high. If I were you, I'd go with desktop unit? waiting for Zion and Grasshopper.

so do you think i wont have to draw for as long if i buy the alpha?

its impossible for me to blow clouds and maintain a conversation with flowermate

i want a short draw with big cloud ? similar to tobacco and green spliff?

i think i need a portable if im honest im willing to spend if i have to maybe the grasshopper is what im looking for
