Last night ddave had me testing various configurations of the kit to find out what was best for me. But before this happened I'd already spent an hour vaping a tall adapter as a cyclone, which already put me on my arse. So by the time ddave had made me vape 3 more baskets, in the interest of science of course, I was knocked out. My hour long session in the adapter was amazing, I missed the slow casual vape. I stopped doing this with old cyclone due to uneven vape and bits falling through onto heater. But this doesn't happen with kit, so I'm happy with that. I still have some practice to do to be able to milk a dense cloud. But I'm sure I will get there. And am enjoying the practice. Will update later if I manage to get to grips with it a bit better.
The Vape is Strong with this one!
For being newer to the vaping realm, Seriously good with experimenting and thinking things through. Looking forward to hearing which combos and methods of EQism you prefer!

Right, so 2 days ago I received my ddave 18mm kit. I have been waiting to post a review but wanted to give it a thorough testing first. I had proper nailed the stock set up, and was very happy with it, so the kit had much to do to impress me.
When I got in from work I rushed straight to my eq, put it on 220 @ fan for 10 mins with all glass attached to preheat. I loaded up the basket in the wand and went for it. To be honest I was dissapointed. I felt like I could get better hits stock.
Anyway I spoke to the wizard himself, who then hade testing various combinations to help findy set up. After a full tall adapter and 3 baskets in different configs, I was knocked out. Iv never vaped so much in one night before. But never achieved my set up.
While I was doing this all I was also trying to watch memento. Which is a confusing film.
Day 2. I rushed home from work yesterday and fired up the eq. This time I have replaced the ddave tubing with my smaller diameter silicone tubing. And this time I loaded the short adapter. This works amazing for me. I get a good hours worth of vaping. Producing huge, flavoursome clouds all the way from 170 to 210. The best vaping experience iv had so far by a mile. I then loaded a basket and again massive beautiful clouds. All this while trying to watch memento again. Don't know if you have seen this film but after 2 days of ddave intoxication, I feel very much like the guy from memento. 'What am I doing?, oh yeah.'
I think my problems on day one were:-
1. Not used to larger diameter tube which messed up my technique, sure I would have cracked it eventually with this set up.
2. This is the most important mistake I think I made. I was so eager to get vapour that I rushed everything. I didn't allow it to perculate and I was drawing too fast. Being too keen.
So day 3 tonight. Can't wait to get home and perfect my set up even more. If possible. I'm so happy with my new upgrades. I'm not one for chopping and changing, I like one set of things that has their place and are cleaned every night. I think I am unlikely to ever use the tall adapter, as the short works so well. I love the instant clouds, and the evenly vaped material. With stock setup my avb had dark brown and green bits all from the same load, even with stiring. Now with ddave my avb is a nice even mid brown all over.
I had some slight delay with my order and the slight teething problems on day one. Ddave has been a true vaping wizard and had helped me throughout, so many many thanks to you ddave for being so friendly and helpful with an annoying amature. I imagine you have felt like banging you head on the wall sometimes.
If you own an eq without the ddave mod I can assure you that you are not getting the full experience. This is indeed a mighty upgrade. Many thanks again to ddave and all who have advised me.

Very impressed huge improvement over the stock setup.
Now I am wishing I ordered the complete 18mm and 14mm package. I'm sure the 14mm is perfect for solo sessions.
Wicked fast shipping to Canada (within 1 week) all contents in perfect condition. Thanks ddave for the extra adapter screens.

Iv been having much fun with my 18mm kit. But can't help feel that the 14mm may have suited me better. To make my kit work for me I have had to use a smaller internal diameter tubing to restrict the air flow. So maybe the 14 would do this for me. I don't know.
I would really like to know how everyone else manages to draw slow enough with the ddave tube.
Don't get me wrong here I'm not knocking ddave or his kit in any way. I am the novice here, I just can't seem to get anywhere with the ddave tube. You guys must have huge lungs to be able to draw slow and long enough with such a diameter. So what am I doing wrong. Why will the large tube not work for me. Does anyone else have this issue or is it just me.

Lo and Behold! The transformative power of Vapor.
I also had to rethink that, the mesh of the round screens and how the tip hats worked. With the 14mm wand, I would use for bowl sessions or a method earlier that I've mentioned in this forum using scissors and pinning the herb between the hat and the bowl screen. Packing the 14mm tip hats might be good for some other thing I haven't tried yet.
If you only have the 18mm with wand that is cool.
But if you buy a full kit later, then you'll have 2-18mms, that is cool too. If you come up with a better solution and share it here that's cool.I try not to telescope the inner dimension (I.D.) as much as necessary. The plug going into the tube will be enough of a restriction to fill a bag for me. Let the force of the air travel as unhindered up to the plug, allows for faster bag fills. (Why I'm so fond of my method, and why I have the 180 degree arc in the whip hose like the picture above.) But you or another FCer might find a suitable method with a 14mm too?
Oh, and the type of grind and type of tip hat packing matters. I'll quote and mention my own method in another post again at some point. But there is some discussion in some earlier posts in this thread worth reading.
Hopefully, this might help in finding a method that works for you. 
UPDATE - Just saw the photo. Finally someone else who understands the versatility and flexibility of a strip of silicone hose.

I will be ordering a 14mm kit on Monday to see how that is. As someone said before 'you can never have too much glass' .
I'm complaining, my 18mm kit is working very well with the slightly smaller tube.
And I wouldn't say I'm telescoping any more than anyone else who has inserted the tube into the wand. The bit round the outside is just a support to stop pinching. Why is telescoping bad.? I though it would be favorable in certain situations. Like a bong. You wouldn't want a huge iternal diameter downpipe. By making the air path narrower you are causing the vapour to speed up to an extent. But it give you more control surely.?

Right so Iv ordered my own 14mm kit now. I am keen to see the difference. I am getting to grips with the 18mm better now. But am still using a smaller tube to give me the control I seek. Also I realise now, how important pack density is. And that this alone can help me achieve better draw resistance. I must say with the 18mm kit, I am not a huge fan of power mode. I get great results by just loosely loading the adapter. Also I find that loading a full adapter works better for me that half full. Flavoursome clouds from start to almost finish. This is a great setup for me, and has changed my eq vape experience completely.
The quality of ddave screens is one other thing that not many people mention. This is a huge thing for me, I'm very ocd and I hate a dirty heater. So now i can vape away all night without having to keep blowing heater cover to clean. This alone has upgraded my experience. Ddave deserves more praise for the quality of screens in his kits.
So thank you ddave for spending the time and effort to put together a really good quality kit. I cannot praise it enough and I can't wait for my 14mm kit to arrive.

Thanks for the detailed feedback! At most, I've only experimented with a partially loaded adapter, never the full adapter. Have you loosely packed from adapter screen to basket screen? How's the end ABV? Is it evenly colored and extracted?
(I hated the wobbly screen in the cyclone bowl as well. That's why I chose an adapter that housed a screen securely and not just a straight pass-through adapter.)

I take the adapter that is very hot at this point. And sprinkle a pinch in until it comes to just above where the bottom of the wand will be. Takes surprisingly little herb. I do not pack it or touch it when it's in. Just a little tap to tamp down a tiny bit.
Place back on eq with wand on top.(still hot from preheat).
Drop temp from 220 warm up, down to 180 and let sit for a few mins. Then I can start drawing tasty clouds instantly. Will work up to 210 before dump.
The avb comes out the most even iv ever seen it. Even with no disturbance through a whole session, it manages to vape it all nicely. Even the edge bits..
This is my best method for now.

I've heard the same regarding extraction and resulting ABV "color"... So it seems even extraction occurs whether small quantity or full bowl.
I have to ask the next question for those in a group setting, how many draws would you say you get average from an entire adapter full? If you get some decent and tasty clouds for almost the entire session, a full bowl pack may be handy when there are multiple people who participate in a group session!

That's the impressive thing to me is the consistency of cloud throughout session. Even my last tasteless hit is a cloud.
I will do a tall adapter now and count my clouds.
With the power mode pack I can only really produce one cloud equal to what I can produce in th adapter.

I didn't get on too well with the tall adapter. It's ok for a mellow session but I like something a little more intense. The short adapter, being closer to the heater, achieves this. And im happy with 6 good clouds from a bowl. I would like the bottom to be a short adapter and the top to be a tall adapted. Do you get it.? So still closer to heater but more herb room. I wonder if this is a possibility?

You are spot on with the description of the tall adapter... is more geared towards cyclone bowl type sessions.
I will check around to see about the adapter like you describe. Let you know what I discover....

Or move it far up the stem and really load that sucker and see who taps out first! It's always me...
