Do you cough still when vaping vs when you combusted?

I have a couple strains right now that are a little bit on the dry side so they are harsh if I don't turn the Nano or the Solo down. They medicate wonderful, just trying to resist the urge to cough right now.

I don't cough very much when vaping through a water pipe. Nothing like when I used to hack from combusting.

I tend to take normal length hits on the pipe rather then deep rips.

I've mellowed with age :chill:

Vaping flower makes me cough just as much as smoking. Concentrates don't make me cough at all unless I take a monster dab. Not sure why it is.
I think it's all on strain and the person individually and how long on the inhale and how long after he holds it all in for that all factors into coughing whether its combustion or vaporization.

It does depend on the strain but the dryness of the herb is a factor. Have two of the same exact strains from the same plant. One bud perfect moisture content and one that is dry a bit and you will feel a difference as to the harshness of your product. The dryer bud will give you more of a cough if you don't turn the heat down.

Probably a water tool works better with dry cannabis.

Yea putting fresh sticky inside a vaporizer isn't gonna give you the same cloud effect as it being dry which vaporizers love dryer erbs

I never tried nano or solo but I have tried the air and it's good

I never cough from vaping even using my powerful desktop but using the mighty always makes me cough for some reason. I think i may be taking huge rips and there is 0 air flow restriction.

Now this seems to be common knowledge that dry herb vapes better than sticky. But my sessions the last couple of days say different. I'm currently in the process of curing my harvest. And I have noticed that there is a sweet spot for the dryness. Mainly dry with a little sticky still seems like I can just milk that shit forever. But after it continues to dry and I come back to it next day it's more like normal vaping again and harsh at the end. Can anyone explain this. I am aiming to cure my buds over 3 months to try to retain the dry but sticky feel. As this seems to be best for this particular strain in the eq, for me.

Is it because that ground up bit has now dried too quick causing cell damage so is not properly cured. Maybe the proper bits I cure will retain the smooth milkiness I love.

In uk it's hard to find weed that has been cured at all so everything iv vaped up till now had been harsh. Maybe this is why vaping not caught on here.

After all the past years of combusting cannabis and all the years of coughing now that I vaporize I don't want to cough.

Try a Cvault if your cannabis is a little on the too much moisture side. I've bought cannabis that I felt had too much moisture and the Cvault seems to perfect my bud, just give it a week or two depending on the moisture level.

I have a cold and saw throught at the moment. Maybe due to giving up tobacco, or is that a myth?
But I find it hard not to cough from vaping at the moment. It's my first experience of using the vape unwell.

Big hits on higher temps still tickle and make me cough on occasion.

Nothing like combusting used to be though, I gave up bongs / buckets / lungs / pipes (any thing other than spliffs) over 20 years ago due to a lung collapsing during a session.

Luckily one of the attendees was asthmatic and had a Ventolin inhaler with them. Never been so scared while being unable to exhale!

However, my newly acquired glassware and vaporiser combo is as smooth as a babies bottom and tastes divine!

I think the coughing is related to vapour temperature rather than particle irritation, the Solo on high temps through stock stem is quite harsh!

A lesser man would have given up on the weed.
Yeah, right, like that was ever gonna happen! (It was actually soap bar we were caning!)

I just never, ever did anything other than spliffs from that day forward.... Never had an attack like that ever again either!

Good old soap bar. Spent my youth smoking that shit specifically made for us stupid English. No one else would smoke that terrible solid. It done the job then though. In a bong. Ah memories.

Not quite true, the Arabs / Africans have been making soap bar for centuries.

OK, a lot of the time it's nasty diesel gear / mirror press etc.. but that's not proper, top quality. Moroccan hashish. Go to Marrakesh and get the real deal... it used to be my favourite, when I combusted.

All solid hash is meant to be pure pollen, hand rolled and compressed into blocks, without the added sand, plastic, truck tyres and all the other crap the scum bags put in it!

However, I have some really nice hash, and I tried a sandwich with it in my vaporiser and I thought it tasted horrible. If I still combusted, I would think it was yummy!

Now I'm at a loss, because I have this nice lump of hash, that I can't use :( - think it might end up in my cookies ;)

No matter how bad hash was, it always seemed to fuck you in cake or bong. I thought they produced a special low quality hash for uk alone called soap bar. Although you could still get good stuff like gold stamp. I still get pollon every now and again. It comes in 3.5 oz bars for £240. So not that cheap really. But very nice. if combusted. I don't know what I'd do with solid now apart from eat. I have a crap Chinese conduction vape. Maybe I'll put it in that. Making isohash from all my trim so gotta do something with it.

That's an odd weight for passport slate? Only ever dealt in 9 bars!

I know it seems like that, but I think the traffickers re-processed it, bulking it out and re-pressing it with god knows what.

I always considered diesel gear was simply the dope that had the diesel seep into it while being smuggled in the petrol tank of lorries! - Apparently it means something different now?

There is a whole new generation of terms and processes I have yet to wrap my head like 'Bubble Hash', BHO etc.

The term 'soap' is really to do with the shape of the 9 bar block it's pressed into that resembles a bar of 'Imperial Leather' soap!

Or at least that was my understanding of the term 'Soap Bar'.

Fair enough you seem to be very familiar with hash. I am only 30 so I only had about 5 yeas of hash (at 15 quid an eighth), before I found weed. I'm guessing you are older than me.
All the new hash baffles me at the moment.. I'm in the process of research. I like the look of rosin.

I also had a collapsed lung like @1DMF and @ginolicious and I think using bongs for so long was probably a major factor in that for me. It was horribly painful and I spent around 10 days in hospital.

These days I only vape and my chest is so much better than when I used to bong. My lung capacity is not nearly as much as before the puncture but it doesn't seem to matter the only time I really notice it is when I go in the water like a pool or the ocean, I feel it really tighten up and it gives me slight panics, especially when I go under water. I used to be very confident in the water, a surfer and could stay under water along time, now I panic and wont to get up for air as quick as possible.

When I vape I dont cough much if ever and i very rarely cough up yucky stuff like I used to when I used bongs every day. The pressure on my chest from the bongs and the really deep inhales would have been part of the reason I had a puncture for sure, we also mixed our weed with tobacco which looking back is disgusting and horribly bad to do. I've heard others talk of having the same issue (collapsed lungs) from using bongs.

I think bongs are a pretty dangerous way to use cannabis over an extended period of your life, I learnt the heard way that's for sure.

Bongs do seem to collapse lungs. As a youth I was always told the bong was the safest way to smoke. I used to believe it filtered out all tar and bad stuff, giving you perfectly healthy smoke. Sounds stupid now but was only 14 then.

I cough every day :ko:
I always filter through water, but I actually kinda enjoy feeling it tickling in my lungs and can only blame myself for making myself cough by taking quite large rips:science:
The first hit of the day is usually the one that makes me cough the most, after that it's much easier.
I'm also finding it to be quite strain dependent as well.
Chocolope is much smoother on my lungs compared to Holy grail for example.

When I combusted up until a few months ago, I only smoked bongs. Very rarely spliffs or pipes etc.
When I was younger, it was bongs, buckets and hot knives :p

I'm getting closer to 40 years young now and have consumed cannabis for approximately 22-23 years, but I really miss the old days when I could get decent solid.
It was much cheaper than green and lasted me much longer too
Approximately 10-11 years ago, it all changed and lower quality bars started flooding the market.
I probably just don't know the right people, but I wouldn't touch any of the solid I can find locally now as it's nowhere near the quality I could get just over a decade ago.
