I'm sure almost all the dust gets trapped in the hose. And the wand. I'm not too worried. I just had noticed there wasn't any dust when I put 2 screens in. Better appearance for wand and hose I guess. I'm totally happy with my new SSV.

Is it dust or fine bud particulate?

I also use two screens and get a cleaner hose and wand, though i always believed this to be tiny bits of vaped bud rather than household dust.

As kief is more than small enough to make its way though the screens and kief by weight is less than 50% trichomes or resin glands. Seems logical that the other 50% is plant matter that is likely what we see in the whip and wand:shrug:

Just wanting to update my prior post regarding my Bubble Hash consumption.

The last 4 nights I've played around with when & how I add and Vape the hash.

From day 1, I was grinding my herb, loading 90% of my herb, then a rather thick layer of Hash, then covering the Hash with the remaining 10% of the total load.

Several days ago I quit grinding, and started breaking my nugs up using my fingernails , right away I noticed that I could now visually see resin glands whilst the material is freshly packed into the wand. (No visible glands when ground)

So, I thought; ..Hell, I'm going to Vape this load without the Hash, and then add the Hash to the spent bowl.

I really did enjoy the herb only bowl with in-tact glands, and also enjoyed the bowl of Hash in spent ABV.

However, over the course of the next few nights, I've found the synergistic properties of FullMelt Bubble Hash sandwiched between 2 layers Freshly hand broken-up flowers is the most enjoyable means of the Hash/Herb combo.

Played with temps as well, and starting at 11:30 ending the session at 12:30-1 o'clock produced epic flavor and very satisfying vapor throughout the entire session.

Going above 2 o'clock seems way too high, but does create some huge clouds.

I've found I gotta draw fairly fast at that temp to get the flavor I crave.

I'm still blown away by 7th Floor's simplistic approach, leading to such iconic Apparatuses, hard to believe it's over 2 decades old.

Keep riding the wave y'all's :leaf:

I agree, this is my preferred method. I lay the 10% on top too, to keep it from sticking to the Heater Cover.

I can't believe how inactive these threads are. Either people aren't using 7th floor products as much or they work so well that nobody needs assistance, lol.

Definitely my preference as well, I've tried 50% Herb, layer of Melt, then the other 50%.

Hash isn't close enough to the HE.

And for the exact same reason I use the 10%.. To keep the Hash in its "nest" and not running down the sides of my wand's bowl and to avoid contact with the HC.

Lol, very true, seems that we just post here to brag about how awesome our last session was.

Just a quick message for the European and UK members - i am now fully furbished to do official 7th floor repairs in the UK for a faster turnaround.
From dimmer and heater replacements to heater stand upgrades. There is also now a UK stock of spares.

I will try and figure out a way to get this info more accessible soon. Until then i am available by PM or email.

Thanks!

I use my blaze orange and black ssv with standard hc couple times a week, I need a new whip though so I'll probably order 20ft or so. I've thought about going to a gg hc so I could use a lsv wand, but I just haven't yet. Even logs sometimes fail to provide the hits my ssv can. Like whoa.

Received my bubbler today from houseofglass420. It rips great with the ssv, I'm enjoying cooled vapor with no sediments. I've switched to using one screen. Noted a slight decrease in flavour.

Learning curve, previous sweet spot doesn't work with a bubbler. My max is 1 o'clock ... any more turns my abv near black. My hands free is useless, I can't leave wand against heater cover, releasing after a draw causes herb to fly into HC so I constantly have to be attentive to pulling wand away at the end of a draw.

Still hitting that bubbler, constantly  . Requires more attention but it's been rewarding.

Yeah, that counterpressure in a bubbler really mucks things up with the SSV, I've just given up using it with herb and reserve it for oils instead. Ah well

You just need a hose adapter. Remove it from your bubbler when you clear it. No need to remove the wand.

The ground glass heater/wand works well with water tools.as well. I use mine with a fc-187. A very nice combo IMHO.

Hello everyone

Finally signed up after lurking for a while and about to push the button on getting the SSV on payday! Excited but apprehensive, it's a lot of money and hope I've made the right choice... Just wanted to say thanks really, I've read every page of this thread, and many others, and it's been invaluable in educating me in the wonderful world of vaping!

I bought a Summit for out and about and love it, except for constantly charging it, hence the switch to desktop for everyday use. I've been conserving herb well with the summit, a little afraid that the SSV will undo that as it's such a big hitter... But from what I've read you can make the SSV behave however you want - big hits, little hits, quick sessions, slow sessions - right?!

Anyway, thanks again and if anyone reading this thinks 'well if you like the summit you'll hate the SSV because x, y, z' please let me know!

Yup, I've gotten by with very little herb (can't recall actual weight right off the top of my head) and it performs wonderfully! I think you will be quite happy with your new toy!

You are going to love your new SSV. Welcome to FC!

The 7th Floor desktops can do small little sips and great big rips and everything in between.

Happy Surfing!

hey guys i really love my ssv. had it forever and love it but wondering if anyone has tips for when you want to get ripped off a really small amount? i saw something about mini wands but i was wondering if there was anything designed for ssv. not looking to spend a lot on anything too fancy as it would really be a backup wand but always happy to have new ways to have fun with my ssv.

p.s. i feel like the heat level isn't consistent always, i usually leave it turned 3/4 of the way to max when hitting it, and feel like sometimes its a little warmer than others, and sometiems it glows more than others, even if i'm sure it's in pretty much the same place. is it normal fluctuation considering weather/environment? just want to know if i should be worried for the health of my ceramic heater rod as this ssv i've had longer than i can remember. its a classic model!

Agree with @grokit regarding the mini-wand as far as efficiency.

As far as the inconsistency of your heating element, you may want to check the outlet in which the SSV is plugged into.

I plug all my Vapes into a 15 amp surge protector that I used to use in the garden, now it's plugged right next to my bed.

Try a different outlet in another room to see if it's the unit or your power supply.

Maybe even try it at a buddy's house..

If all else fails, 7th Floor will repair anything for a 25$ flat fee + shipping.

You can use a enano stem in the ground glass version of the ssv as well for quick single loads, the stem fits in the whip rather than vice versa. But really just make a normal load, and take one or two hits. I do that a lot and it works for me.

My only beef with my ssv is that I have to clean the screen pretty much every day. All my other vape screens go much longer before clogging

i have to clean the screen daily as well but its easily worth it. seems like an enano stem is a little expensive compared to the mini wand, has anyone compared both, or was it convenient bcause you already had the e nano?

wish i signed up here long ago wow!

Interesting, I only clean my screen when I clean the wand, about once a month, and more often than not I just toss the screen and use a new one. Actually, I've been using two pipescreens as suggested by someone earlier in this thread, they're cheap to buy, easy to fit, and the dual action really keeps the stem much cleaner than just one screen does and without much (any?) noticeable added resistance
