I found an interesting EVO trick.

When you are first drawing air through the tube; it takes 5 seconds to "prime" the Rip.

In other words, you aren't really getting vapor for the first 5 seconds until "it starts to flow."

This is a problem for my girlfriend, because it takes her so much air-suction to get the vape to produce, that she's only got a quarter lung capacity left for the actual hit.

My new solution is the blow up a balloon before the rip. I use the balloons output to "prime" the toke. I gently place the balloon around the bottom nipple (air intake) and let it expel it's air up into the bamboo.

That way, when your lips first meet the tube, there's already vape in the chamber and you can take 100% milk into the lungs without having to take that initial draw which takes up a good amount of your overall inhalation capability.
The balloon thing is interesting, but do you take the balloon off for the actual hit? I would think the hit would be different with the balloon air simply because the oxygen/co2 levels would be quite different in a balloon (what you exhale) from regular air. Lungs make carbon dioxide. We breathe oxygen.

just saw this popping up on the vxh shop :brow:

I had not noticed this. Looks interesting, but it is difficult to see the details on the glass. The site says that a 14mm adapter is needed.

Nice idea if you cant take a big draw. Thought i should mention you try something like a sphygmomanometer pump. With a wipe attached it should not be as fiddly as hocking a filled balloon to the bamboo.
Could also be funny to use something like these balloon whistles to fit it to the bamboo

But i got a question regarding your description due to the lung capacity.(hope this sentence makes sens)

to be fair i just quit combustion since my Evo arrived one month ago and i was used to big bong´s
like 0.75 to 1L of drawing volume. I don`t expect that everybody can take such a big toke but what you described sounds like a pretty small draw.

just to get this right you say : a 5 seconds draw (time to build up dense vapor "prime") takes 3/4
of your girlfriends lung capacity. assuming this would mean the hole draw time wouldn't be much longer than 6.6 - 7 maybe 8 second ? sounds pretty short to me assuming the volume of a Hydratube ... so how hard or fast do you ( your girlfriend ) pull on your unit ?

For myself i developed 3 draw styles with the Evo witch all give me a fast dense vapor production.
(heatsoaked on every setting starting at around 9 o´clock and above)

 Ripping it like if the devil rides your back. hard fast constant draw with a short drawing time like 10 - 15 seconds than lift and clear HT (bong habit just try to get your glass to implode)

:ko: Fast hard start so hard that you directly get to the whistle or above. As vapor starts to build up I´m going just below the whistle with a strong an steady draw for about 15 - 20 seconds.

:uhh: Slow and steady draw not pulling hard and always staying below the whistle milking my glass up slowly.Long draw time something around 20 - 25 seconds before lifting the HT to clear.

With this technique i get almost every bowls size done in 3 hits (stirring and stepping the temp up after each hit). 3rd hit will be wispy.

@BoinG, you've come a long way in such a short time with your EVO (and extra kudos for reading through the thread)!

And great advice (and description) with your 3 draw styles. The most common challenge for new EVO users seems to be working out how to hit it (and behind that, how to load it). I'm going to bookmark your post to use when a new user posts his/her struggle to get the EVO hitting as expected.

They let these out when they first released the VXN if I'm not mistaken.

I have a chinese recycler much like this, it's small with a similar design. Honestly, it's a pretty fucking cool piece none the less and works fairly well with the cloud. It's not a bad piece to have. Definitely prefer a regular HT to it.

If you aren't already, I suggest taking the elb out of the bamboo to stir. I used to take the cap off and leave the bottom of the elb in the bamboo and stir. Then one day I noticed sparks in my bamboo and when I looked down in there I saw a bunch of kief like specs in there that were occasionally combusting. So it's a pain in the ass to clean if you do it that way.

@oldiebutgoodie Thank you I appreciate it. (though about adding a few lines about the temp settings and how i go about using the draw styles within a session. But don't want to overwhelm people with a wall of text)

Want to give some kudos back to all of you guy´s like you oldie, stu, t-dub, stickstones, seek, cannabis connoisseur, macbill ... just to mention a few that came to my head right now.
I'm used to to figure thing out by my self but to be honest without the help of this thread it would have taken me much longer.
Didn't even need to ask a question because of all the great advice you guys give in here!

So my hat is off to you guy´s

@stickstones thanks for that. Decided to do that on the 3rd day because I was always flipping some bits of herb over top witch landed on the screen inside the vent openings. Didn't like to clean that either.
Good advice after all so a wont get lazy doing it. :)

Saw a few people ask about cheap HT alternatives don't know if it has been mentioned before but sine supply on original vxh HT in europ is a bit limited (best place to get one here might be vapefiend) though i might share this one. (don't want to advertise here!)

Don't know how tall or sturdy this piece is but might be worth to have a look at if you want to save a buck. And you could still set an original vxh HT on top.:mental: (I just like a big volume)

so long ... vape on.

I've heard some negative things said about that website in the past...and honestly I won't be buying any other hydratube clone except the real deal. Straight from vxh. Partly because I want to support the company and also because I don't know how the clones/knockoffs will function. It could ruin my evo ,maybe the water might spill -point is in not taking any chances and I will gladly pay a little bit more for that peace of mind.
Speaking of ht's looks like mine will be here Monday ,very excited !

@MichaelCompton i don't have any experience with this shop but I'm totally with you in terms of function and supporting vxh. I went with the HoneycombHT still hoping for something like the OG Vertigo HTs or a Swagger Double with straight a tube to come(back).
Right now im debating about buying a Hydrabase Bomb edition... :hmm:

Nice piece. Very cool to include a VXN. I've never hit a tree perc before. They definitely need better pics on the site. I'm glad Sticks is trying to make that happen.

I hope old designs continue to reappear as well as some new ones. I even want a Hydrabomb from the last group. Then again, I've got at least five months to go on my vape/glass purchase moratorium.

Edit: It sounds like a child wrote this upon re-reading with all those short declarative sentences. Weird.

So many choices/decisions right !
I want them to bring back the 2.0 hydratube that had a male joint on top instead of a mouthpiece. So much stackability (that should be a word ;) )

Damn you, party liquor
Nice! @gaseous_clay ! you officially posted the best pics of the hydratree on the internet so far that I've seen! I was looking for some close ups, so thanks! How's it hit? Butter smooth, I'm betting...

That was the "Hydrafoot 2.0". I have one. It has a large circ with 40+ slits. It's got a side joint so the EVO goes inverted. With a Hydratube on top there is a little additional drag but not too much at all, surprising given its size. A lot of diffusion, which is why I got it; can't say how much this affects flavor as I don't have access to high quality herb. I really like it combined with my very free-flowing Hydraline. It will be interesting to see how it mates up with the Evolver tree.

I think we're talking about two different things .I'm familiar with the hydrafoot,in talking about a hydratube that has a male joint to connect to other things instead of a mouthpiece.

Won't know how the hit is until late tonight. I had to head in to work, so there was no trial run yet. However tonight I will be up in a tree!

And as for the pics, that's why I took them! Looking at this closely it is a beautiful piece. I think I'm going to be very happy with it.

So...anyone know any women good at ripping their Evo? :p Not trying to make any generalizations but it seems like girls have a little bit of a harder time getting thick hits from these babies. My girlfriend usually stops hitting it right when it's getting thick because she doesn't have the lung capacity for a longer steady draw.

There are a number of ladies here that are serious vaporists. No doubt they hold their own.

Admittedly I had a couple nice draws on my Pax2 on the way home (mass transit/walking. i'm safe) so I was already nice when I got in.

I turned on EVO to 10:00 & let her warm up a bit. Chilled water from the fridge 1/4 inch above the slits. The new glass feels smooth. Kinda like holding a baby. The hit is SMOOTH. Like real nice. Saw some nice clouds building up while watching The Doctor deal with some ghosts. After a few more, dial to 12 and have a couple THICK MILK clouds. Not a cough at all. Smooth. Recommended.

After reading an unknown amount of different desktop reviews and burying combustion after buying the mighty in August, I finally ordered the EVO with the Hydrabomb HT. Your close-ups and Sticks customer service sealed the deal.

Glad to help! Like everybody else I highly (pun intended) recommend this! It's no nonsense. It does its job and it does it well. The move from burning to vaping is as big as from horse to car. Early cars were weird and clunky. This is the simple vehicle that does it well enough that you don't miss rolling a joint.

By the way, the pics & description are of the Evolver Hydratree that is in final release. Make sure you order the right one if this is it. Hate to miss it because you click the wrong one! Enjoy!

I'm noticing for the first time some imperfections on the Hydra tube. First of all the logos are printed in one color only, not 3 as I have seen in the pics online. Maybe they switched to this new cheaper logo, but I used it for just 3 sessions, washed none, and one of them is already fading. It's also a bit crooked, as the holes inside the glass of the turbine. I say this after a week because it's the first time I look closer at it without water.
And if I look very close to the internal bits of glass there are a lot of crooked spots.
Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions too fast but there are fewer spots like that on my China pieces than on the Hydratube.

I have the same turbine hydratube, but mine has the logo printed in 3 4 colours

I see a couple of crooked parts in mine as well, but the only part I wonder about are the turbine slots as some look almost sealed
The slots on your turbine look like they're more open than mine - does water get stuck in the upper chamber on yours?

My logos were in gold, however the one wrapped around the base is starting to fade. This particular turbine is more flawless visually vs my original Swagger Turbine which had a slightly crooked perc
