A New York man who suspected that a Chili's restaurant waiter had spit into his drink got the law involved and investigators were able to determine who spit into the drink using DNA analysis, according to court documents.

The incident took place last July, when Ken Yerdon and his wife, Julie Aluzzo Yerdon, went to dinner at a Chili's restaurant on Route 31 in Clay, New York, according to court documents from a lawsuit filed Tuesday. The couple complained to their server, Gregory Lamica, then 24, that their food was under-cooked and that they hadn't been served chips, Yerdon said.

"They were polite to the server, and even left a tip," Robert Lahm, a lawyer representing the Yerdons in the case, told ABC News today.

Image from surveillance video shows motorist starting gas station blaze trying to kill spider with lighter.

A motorist got more than he bargained for when he stopped at a Michigan gas station earlier this week and started a fire when he tried to kill a spider with a cigarette lighter.

Surveillance video from the Mobil gas station in Center Line shows flames quickly engulfing the man’s car and the gas pump, Fox 2 Detroit reported Friday, while adding that luckily no one was hurt.

... Jewel found a psychologist willing to help her become blind - an act which she compares to a deaf person wanting to get a cochlear implant. ...
This broad is fucking nuts.:rant: IMO, the psychologist should lose his/her license. Cochlear implants add a sense; blinding takes a sense away. The comparison is ridiculous, again my opinion. If Jewel wanted to be blind so badly, she should've had the guts to achieve it herself. Aiming drops into one's own eyes isn't tricky.

Edit: No sane person with medical training would do such a thing.

Cheese really is crack. Study reveals cheese is as addictive as drugs

For years you've been telling your friends, family, co-workers and anyone who will listen that you're addicted to cheese. It's a part of every meal or snack, and you think about it constantly. According to a new study from the University of Michigan, cheese crack is a real thing. And so is your addiction.

:2c:
I was reading something about that yesterday. Reportedly cows naturally produce the opiate morphine and it goes into their milk, making cheese more physically addictive than heroin and a harder habit to quit. Coincidentally, I am in the process of giving up all dairy except butterfat so fuck me, we'll who has an addictive personality you shits. Anyhoo, I am wondering if dairy always had opiates or if this is a more recent phenomenon coinciding with the advent of cafo-style animal management.

If the cows are locked into a dysfunctional stress response feedback loop as they would be in a cafo system, then they will always be in adrenal fight or flight mode, and producing endorphins which are the body's natural opiates. Their sympathetic nervous system has been hijacked for milk production, but this is not "normal" milk if my theory is correct. I would really like to see a study that compares the opiate levels of commercial/industrial milk to milk that is produced from a small family farm.

This is what I read yesterday;

Morphine in Milk- What the Dairy Industry Doesn’t Advertise on Their Products
If you still think a harmless glass of milk, a cup of yogurt, or a small serving of cheese isn’t potentially dangerous, think again. Dr. Neal Barnard, M.D. (founder of the Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine, a.k.a PCRM) found that in various studies, when dairy products were removed from the diet, cheese was the hardest food for people to give up. Dr. Barnard credits this finding to cheese being the most concentrated source of casein of all dairy products. PCRM has also discovered that milk actually contains morphine, which can clearly be seen when milk is inspected under a microscope. Morphine is not added to cow’s milk; cows actually produce these opiate-like chemicals on their own.
