The CVault - Climate Controlled Storage

Maybe also do a quick scrub down of the cvault in case some of the smell is emanating from material stuck on the outside or such? If you're still smelling something then the seal may be suspect, definitely get in touch with cvault, there should be no detectable odors

Just filled three of these. Overwhelming smell emitted from at least one of them. Too lazy to tell which one is leaking (two smalls and one extra small) so I just put them all into ziploc bags over the top.

Not impressed so far.

Did you wash them before using them?

There may be manufacturing oils, or some other type of lubrication, that is contributing to the bad odors.

If you're smelling what you filled it with, it sounds like there's an issue with the seal. Did you make sure there's no obstruction? On the small cases, you need extra folds in the above da pack so it doesn't overlap the seal.

If that doesn't work, you may want to reachi out to the manufacturer. They are accessible, very nice and helpful. These cases are worth getting right. Perso, I find they work grey. Good luck!

I did - that's not the smell. :brow:

I did - folded them up tight. The rings are clear.

I'd wager it's the X-Small (no clamps) that's leaking. I'll check them over the weekend.

After months and months of daily use, I have come to the conclusion that IMO c vaults are really not that worth it. Considering their design is identical to onyx containers while being sold for twice the price is already unsettling. I'm pretty unhappy considering I paid hundreds for mine and they leak smell on a regular basis. The other night I had one of them right by my bed, near my pillow, and I had to get up and move it elsewhere because it smelled so strongly of dank.

This is not the first time this has happened, I can usually smell coming from the latches as well. With smell being a huge liability to some people I would think they would have better quality control to ensure each c vault is actually smell proof. I can't imagine someone traveling with weed in these, smelling up a car and putting themselves at risk.

I have cleaned each c vault head to toe, inside and outside with iso, so it is nothing dirty on the inside our outside messing with the seal. IMO leaking smell is a dealbreaker, I doubt this could be fixed with me a year later so I probably won't be buying any more c vaults in the future, as privacy is an issue for me and smell leaking is just unacceptable for the price people are paying for these slightly altered onyx jars.

When I first got my cvaults I traveled to hostile territory (Indiana). I had some cherry pie in an xsmall and so much smell leaked out that the manager entered my room while I was away because the "smoke" smell was so strong. My heart sank into my stomach as I read a letter basically saying both my rights and privacy were trampled and I felt unsafe staying there. Manager left the facility keyring behind and I didn't return it until I checked out 5 days early on a 7 day prepaid booking. Small price to pay compared to doing 5+ years. Other than that I've loved my cvaults but their lack of quality control nearly cost me my freedom.

Are onyx jars a brand? Can you send a link to this? Sorry to hear about your problems with Cvault. I haven't experienced that, but am always looking for something better.

and damn letsgo, that's exactly what I mean, you could have lost your freedom because of that. For the price they charge they should be either making improvements or have better quality control. I have 2 jars that severely reek dank smell, and I cleaned them all yesterday with ISO totally unacceptable. My only regret is buying every single damn size!

Thx for the link! Have either of you reached out to Freshstor and described your problems? I'll bet you just need a replacement gasket. I've talked with those guys and they were a pleasure to deal with (but like I said, I haven't had your problems). I would not be surprised if they make it right for you.

Give it a shot and keep us posted. I think you should let them know you're an FCer. If they make it right (or don't), they should know your experience is posted here. I think they'll care about that. (Hope this suggestion doesn't violate any FC rules...)

That's weird, sounds like a defect. Have you called CVault directly to report this problem? I've never had that problem with any of my CVault's.

I thought I had contacted freshstor about it but realized I only took it to fc. Back in November it was suggested to clean all spots with ISO even under the gasket. Helped a little but but still far from smell proof. I think it's the medium that's leaking because the latches don't all seem to apply uniform pressure due to how they're riveted. It's been over a year since I purchased them, so I doubt the company will/should do anything but I'll drop them a line anyway.

I just received a Medium CVault 2 days ago. I was excited to try it out and immediately filled it up and hid it inside a drawer. I opened the drawer today to check on it and could smell dank in the drawer. I'm feeling kind of ripped off from this as one of the reasons I bought this was to hide the smells.

...did you load the dank into the CVault with bare hands and then buckle down the lid and then put it in said drawer with the same fingers? If you had dank on your fingers, then you have dank on the outside of the CVault.

I've been guilty of this in the past and then wondered why everything smelled like dank...

If not, then your CVault may have a loose fit...maybe...not sure if they are "completely" smell proof...

I held the container up to my nose and it was definitely coming from the seal. I didn't touch the dank as I poured it directly out of a bag into the container. I have the Boveda packet folded as the instructions say so it's not interfering with the gasket. I couldn't see any imperfections with the seal either.

Time to reach out to Freshstor. You may have a defective unit. Those guys are very nice. I expect they'll take care of you

Great Scott!
Has anyone come up with a good way to organize say 1/8th-1/4 per strain, maybe up to 5 strains in the largest c-vault? I'm finally looking into proper storage. I don't think putting the dispensary pill bottles as is into the c-vault will have any benefit right? I'm assuming the buds would have to be exposed to reap the benefits of the packs and the c-vault?

I use cardboard to separate mine in two. I had previously been using four sections by making an "x" with two pieces of cardboard and cutting slits in the middle to "mate" them.

I'm really lazy with this and just put them in labeled sandwich bags.

I was splitting a purchase with another patient and had to meet her at my work. Put her share in the cvault, cvault in my bag, no odors whatsoever. Opened it in her car and it was olfactory overload, smelled so damn good and strong, gave her share, sealed up the cvault, popped it back into my bag and left, again no residual odors.

I love this thing!

Vapes R Great
I've owned two cvaults small and medium size for about a year now. So far I have had no issues. I do treat them gently when opening and closing. I keep mine in my dresser drawer. I have never once washed or wiped down the seals. They are a little pricey but I like them. I take a small when I go to my dispensary as I can fit it in my jacket pocket quite well. I have even taken a full cvaults and my vape some of my cancer treatment appointments at the hospital.

I recently bought 2 medium and 1 large Cvaults from Amazon and have to say, they are amazing for keeping the bud fresh, the buds really feel amazing and a lot smoother smoke.

My only problem is smell retention. I recently picked up a zip of some Black Cherry Funk which was amazing as fuck and smelled like the best weed of my life, but it was quite a bit dry since it was just so overloaded with trichomes. I popped the whole zip into my Large Cvault and the next day I noticed the smell had nearly faded away.. this had happened earlier when I had mixed a few different strains in one of my other Cvaults, but this Cvault was cleaned in advanced and only used with this Black Cherry Funk ounce... but it still somehow stole the smell. The upside is, the buds are amazingly fresh now. Not even close to being dry anymore, but the smell is just gone.

Just wondering what others experience has been with the Cvault storage system. I just ordered a 12-pack Bodeva just in-case my Bodeva's are funky.. but I highly doubt it since it's not even a few weeks old yet.

Really odd that the smell went away?????

You can test Bovedas---if they still are squishy, like boobs ;) then they are still good, like boobs ;)
When the innards get harder, then the bovedas are exhausted.
