Unfortunately guys my hopper died a couple of days ago. Something in the back end just stopped working. It went strong under HEAVY usage for almost 2 months. Then I used it one night, sat it on my end table and went to fire it up the next morning and got cop lights. Blue red blue red ect ect ect... Was quite a bummer but the issue is being taken care of with a quickness. Thank god too because it's set a standard that no portable can ever reach in my opinion. Hell, I haven't even used a desktop since I got it. The nano is on again now though.

FC Grasshoppers are dropping like flies unfortunately.
I kinda expected this. Given the high part-count, there were guaranteed to be problems they need to work out once they began shipping dozens of units to paying customers. I'm sure there's a murphy's law in engineering regarding failures and part counts.

I only hope Matt & Trevor have enough previous experience in product development to work through these faults and fix the design before they get stuck under a growing pile of warranty repairs

Just curious after seeing a GH go for $510 on ebay yesterday, (fess up which one of you knuckleheads paid $510 for a GH?) what's the overall retail price for this thing gonna be? Anyone know?

I don't think it would be a smart move to go any higher than the current price, You have to keep in mind this unit is supposed to be cheaper it's advertised that way.

The failure rate here is likely way higher because we tend to run our new unit's through a gauntlet of heavy use, Some on purpose some just excited wanting to show there new unit off to everyone, Not saying we shouldn't use whatever vaporizer we wan't whenever we damn well please, I'm just taking a shot in the dark at the failure rate numbers here not matching up with Hopper labs numbers.

A gauntlet of heavy use like the person who just posted on Reddit?
Fell apart during the first use, tried to put it together, back end popped off and springs went flying.
That's what happened to mine when I was inspecting what the hell went wrong with the back end. I had the battery out of it and clicked it. Well without that battery there to hold it all in place the back end dumped it's guts down inside of the hopper. There's a neodymium magnet ring that holds the back end guts in place and it cracked after soooooo much use. I just didn't know it until I clicked it without the back pressure of the battery there. Then.... Carnage!

Seeing nothing but failure about the GH but the few that do work say it's the beez kneez. I wonder how many of the folks that are saying good things don't have something to do with the company.

I finally decided to get a refund, short email from Caroline explaining that more units will be shipping soon and I will have to pay a higher price in the future.

I wanted to hold out for my Hopper but unfortunately common sense won me over.

As a March pre-order I looked at it like this. There is no way I was getting my unit in October. They have been saying a lot will be shipping next month since at least July 2014 and all I keep hearing is how units are breaking down. I figure that I would not get my pre-order until they drastically ramp up production and if they drastically ramp up production I can simply place an order and hopefully get a unit within weeks instead of months or years. No lose situation really. I did have some concerns about the low number of units shipped and the high number of faulty units. After this long they are probably operating using capital from pre-orders and it does not appear like they will be in a position to fill these pre-orders for a long time yet.

Just thinking out loud but they may have more to ship with people getting refunds which means less people to send one too possibly.

Same price as the crafty for us in the UK (retail price) so not really cheap, but if I can buy one in the UK and have any warranty dealt with in the UK then I will still get one.

I told myself that one for awhile too but then I read stuff about people having a unit fail, then the replacement fail or ordering three units and having two fail and I realized any extra units are probably being used for that purpose.....

I should clarify that I am still rooting for GHL to get it all together and I will still buy one when I hear that the kinks have been worked out and they can deliver in a reasonable amount of time.

When it works, it's a absolute amazing vaporizer. I tried and own the iolite, vapman, extreme-q and arizer air. Out of these the GH has the greatest flavour imo (through glass). It's really fun tho milk that thing with a bubbler at high temps. You can take a hit in seconds and put it back in your pocket. Without water I use it just at lower temps because it's a bit coughy for me. Last week's I almost only used the GH.

I think that gives a pretty good indication of where the retail price eventually ends up at.

Once they have shaken out all the bugs, they will be the only product like it on the market. They can therefore charge whatever the market will tolerate. Since they also have to build in margins for retailers, I expect that the price will be at least $199 for the SS(possibly $249). Even at that price, it is a good deal.

I'm happy to wait for mine at the pre-order price since I'm too frugal to spend big money on a portable when I have a kick-ass desktop.

Never thought about that, very good point.
I wonder if I could get it quicker through them but this might be a good estimate for a retail price

Keep in mind that listing is for £199, not $199.
£199 = $300.94 atm :o

Yeah I should have pointed out it was £ not $ but I think the U.S. Price would be less as there is no customs involved, U.S. Vapes always cost us in the UK a little more, I would guess that the U.S. Retail price would be $199-250 (that is just a guess based on the normal UK price increase)

Holy fuck! It's about 270€ for us here in Greece if ordered from the UK!!! No thanks! It's almost 100€ cheaper if ordered from the States! Customs are not that much to justify buying from inside EU, this is crazy!!! Buying from the other side of the world should be more expensive... This economy really sucks!!! :bang:

It's not just customs, the retailer also has to make some money, the more hands it passes through the higher the price will get.

And there are other thing to consider, like in the UK if I order from the states I would have to pay vat at around 20% and also more than likely customs fees, now the thing that will make the difference for me is whether vapefiend will handle warranty issues themselves or if I will have to ship to the U.S. as that can be expensive and take time, so if vapefiend can handle any warrant issues this for me would be worth the exrta £, and remember once the retail side of things get started GH will probably raise their price to match.

So... After a month, I am not getting good vapor- high temp, medium temp, coarse grind, grind packed full or just a pinch. Just a 3. Maybe a 4 when working well. Below par.

Just getting these small whispers and on occasion a small balloon of vapor. Nothing like these dudes on YouTube getting 10-12 major vapor hits in a row. Turn up the temp and I get a really burnt/harsh taste. Some vapor. But not clouds.

Tried multiple strains n the same result.

I have a pax, pax2, mflb, crafty to compare to. But really no comparison except for the form factor.

Send trevor a note? No blue/red lights and it is heating.
