Quitting weed for a while

2.5 grams a day is way beyond the recommended medical dose for most conditions (other than conditions like cancer where the goal is to intake as much cannabis as possible). I know if I vaped more than 1.5 a day I'd start feeling sick, and get withdrawral symptoms. But that's a totally irresponsible way to use a medicine. If you're just using it to get high, sure vape as much as you want. But since you're treating insomnia, I think that using less would make your withdrawral symptoms less extreme while still treating your condition. Try vaping 3 .15 gram bowls a day. Once in the morning, once in the afternoon, and one a few hours before bed. If that doesn't help you at all, maybe cannabis isn't the best treatment for your sleep issues.

Also try watching some of Dr. Sulak's videos on youtube. He's one of the Drs that works at the place I get my mmj card from. His videos probably say a lot of stuff you've heard before, but he sums it up nicely, and sets up clear ways of following his advice. Lots of good information on sensitization to cannabis, tolerance, and getting the most out of your medicine while feeling good doing it, and with as few symptoms as possible.

You bring up the coffee example, which I agree with. I don't drink coffee because I can't control my use, and I always end up drinking more than I intend, which leads me to terrible symptoms, which makes me take a break, which leads me to even worse withdrawral symptoms. It creates a vicious cycle, which I cannot handle, so I stopped drinking coffee. Your relationship with cannabis sounds like my relationship with coffee, so maybe your best bet is to take a long break without relapsing or slipping, and see how you feel after that. If after a month without cannabis you feel good, I suggest you stop using it all together, as clearly you are not happy with the symptoms you experience.

I have some mental illness conditions i'm presenting treating, but it seems like when I sleep, those conditions go away and I don't need to vape during the day, but then I can't sleep at night. I have .25g gram sessions which I can vape in one shot with my vriptech, every couple of hours or so. It enables me to function.

Tried many times, longest was 7 or 8 weeks, but typically go 30 days...it's not as easy for some people as you think.

Lo and Behold! The transformative power of Vapor.
@phattpiggie I will take everything you say at face value and understand you not wanting to offend but merely wanting to help. But the words tend to get in the way am I right?. Then there is the subject matter. If you are quitting anything, trying to rethink the 'why' you use is important. You have touched upon that in your post, I believe. And understand the special cases.

Like I mentioned earlier in this thread and the smoking thread. I don't condemn anybody and simply want to give them the tools they need to cope with quitting.
If they fail the first time, they have gained experience to quit a second time. Much harder with anything designed to be physically addictive like cigarettes.
Try to remember that I am not physically addicted but highly compulsive with it.
MJ isn't physically addictive but can help with some things and mask others. So I indulge in one of my compulsions during my T-break including 'feeling the breeze' as you mentioned.
My t-break was forced on me this time due to availability and lack of time to find a new connection. I chose to not lean on my co-workers and you might find my story interesting when compared to your and others situations. http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/quitting-weed-for-a-while.18883/page-3#post-854113
Thanks for posting.

Completely right it's very difficult to type your thoughts and views. Face to face is always much better.
I was as compulsive when I was at the height of my consumption. I would start getting panicky when I was nearly out. Going thru ashtrays. After all my nub ends were pure. Planning my days around when I could smoke.
I am not like that now. A friend who has quit tobacco hit the nail on the head when he said he had broken the 'habit'. He longer plans his day around his cigarette breaks.
I know it can for some be very hard but it's doable.
I wish anyone who is quitting anything all the best in their quest.
You will make another connection and to be honest time out is a good thing.
The main thing to take on board is that you are not alone. We just all have different coping mechanisms.
As you say it's never a failure it's all experience for next time and it will serve you well.

If you've been able to take breaks that long, and after still feel that cannabis helps, then instead of focusing on taking breaks maybe try cutting your dosages back slowly? You're able to take long breaks, so when you start back up again it will be easy to keep your tolerance low.

Also I think others may have brought this up, but CBN has a much stronger effect on insomnia than THC I've found. Maybe try using a conduction vape, or process your bud to be higher in CBN?

I know of the symptoms you're speaking of, but I've only had them for a day or so after taking a break. Granted the most I've vaped a day is about a gram, and that was when I was healthier.

Thanks @Farid great post... I am in the process of getting a conduction vape....the vape that is my daily driver right now (Vriptech) couldn't be more convection...maybe better suited for daytime. I am also in the process of getting higher CBD meds....would these have higher CBN as well?

Most of my symptoms of withdrawal compound from the insomnia/night sweats... i've been at this game for a decade now and it's always been strong hydro BC bud. At some point my usage started to increase from maybe .25/g to an all time high 2.5g or so. I will take your advice and dial back my dosages slowly. It appears that it will have to be VERY slowly. I think starting at .2g/sesh instead of .25g is a good starting point. I can still have 10 sessions, but i'll save .5g on the day.
