Just wanted to say I bought that same Vapir unit, and it vaulted me away from vaping for YEARS. Gather around, friends, and I'll tell you a little about RBT's humble beginnings as seen from this designers point of view. Hope I still have a job after this, har har!
Someone posted a little ways back something to the effect of ...seems like RBT listened to everyone's gripes about vaporizers and invented one to address them all...or somesuch. Props to that guy, I hope they will forgive my laziness for not quoting them directly. They don't know how right they were.
RBT is a colleague from one of my past lives and we've stayed in touch more or less, mostly less if I'm being honest but as we all know, that's life when people part company, but still enough to share jokes, major life events, and whatnot. We hooked up for a ski trip once for a score and to check out his "cool new vape" which was that Vapir unit shaped like a capital "D", but he forgot the little pucks that hold the shiz.
Hard to imagine, right?
Anyway, I had already formed my opinion of 'vaping' by that point and knew it had never fully cut it for me as a long time combustor, so it didn't break my heart. I did go out and get one of those units and as usual, it didn't quite cut it for me not to mention it seemed to blow more vapor out its seams than into the bag. Meh, back to the pipe collection.
A couple months shy of a year ago he calls me up all mad scientist and heyyyy buddyyy, can I come visit, I have a project that I could use your help on. He briefly described to me how he's completely fed up with existing vaporizer technology, and got so sick of all the BS and crap engineering that he decided to make something that actually worked, and so he engineers up with this brilliant heater system. I think he was even just thinking 'one off' in the beginning, it was just so he and his friends would have a vaporizer that functions as it ought to, YOU BET! Come on over! (bring your good shit) I'm always down for a nice hangout and helping my buds with projects.
So we're hanging out with some real good stuff, looking over his sketches and familiarizing me with the concept and where he's at with the design and where he'd like it to go, the usual project team design kick off kind of discussion, and he smiles and says 'I brought a prototype!' and proceeds to pull out some cube shaped box made of wood and drywall, taped together or maybe he was just balancing all the pieces. He has mad skills at holding several objects all at once and performing dexterous acts with them, it's quite amazing to watch. I won't be getting back to that.
So here he is with this wirey, screeny, naily drywall box with a couple openings looking all of a Smurf sized glory hole, hooks a battery up to it and proceeds to blow a couple meager clouds before catching some shit on fire in my bedroom. Wowwwww! Neeeeaaaat!Yeah, he could use a little help. A lot of help. Not talking about the project anymore. I digress...
Over the next few weeks I would cad up the latest concept, and every time we'd chat he'd have gone off in another direction and I'd be starting over. It's like herding kittens working with RBT. GENIUS kittens, though.
But the design had not yet found it's formula. That happened a little before @lwien started this thread. We were using cut borosilicate glass and thinking ceramic, but had not yet discovered how to work the tech into standard 'round' glass. I'm not sure what sparked that brilliant step in the evolution of Zion, that is between the universe and @RastaBuddhaTao , but whatever it was, that was the moment Zion was born.
A couple weeks after that we had the "2x4" design packaged which is still really the same packaging as today, less the lid and the nice round corners. Shortly into the detail design @KeroZen drew a wireframe 'lid' on one of our cad renderings, and a couple pre-alpha testers had also commented how nice a lid would be, and this is how the Zion got it's lid.
Add several months of FC community ideas and involvement, extremely valuable input from our insane beta test crew, lots of work to reduce the manufacturing steps required to produce, hundreds of hours of grueling old fashioned testing (i'm so hungry) and that form has been gently refined into what we see today as the first production Zions get ready to come to life.
and thanks to my good friend and his relentless pursuit of vapor perfection I haven't combusted for more than six months, smoking stopped cutting it for me the first time I tried my prototype and that, dear friends, is my Story of Zion.

If you really do think you want a J-hook style affair going on with your Zion, you could just email or PM @Oregonglassblower and ask him if he can make a J-hook that is U.S size 18mm male (instead of the standard female) - mention that you intend to use it with the Zion and he will know what you mean as he has already supplied @cybrguy with the correct size joints for his requests.
Then it'd be all in one - no adapters required.
But to be honest, I generally find the standard stems to be pretty much perfect for me. Plus the shorter one has the additional bonus of being stashable in it's home slot inside the Zion, which I think is really very cool
So you may want to wait & see how you get on with those first . . . .

I don't think you'll need to specify US or ISO on the female section as the ISO is longer so there will be no problem with the US male sticking out above the ISO female. Plus if it has an ISO female it can be used with vapes that use ISO fittings.Hey man

Zion, stealing faces since 2015
One great thing about Zion is it's versatility. Water, no water. Long stem, short stem. Fine grind, whole flowers. Sips, rips. You do not have to use water as the hits are THAT SMOOTH. Honestly using water and electrical devices gives me anxiety lol. When I used to combust I had a few bongs over the years but never really felt it necessary as it was more a novelty. Vapor is so much smoother than smoking already for me. I know vapes are safe to use with water tools, just my personal preference. Did you all see the video where RBT dumped water in the Zion and it just kept on kickin'? Awesome sauce! The bottom line... it really kicks butt no matter how you choose to use. To the glass specifics I yield to the experts and the awesome info they have provided thought this thread. It's almost October and I am so very happy for those that will be receiving their Zions in the next months and I can not wait to see all of the variations in the way people attain that bodied vapor that only RBT can deliver.

I'd say hold off to see what you'd like to try with Zion after dry use, many options available with standard glass connection.
That said, its 18.8mm US male glass connection, anything like that will fit. OGB is reliable for Zion work thanks to @cybrguy, and there are some other options that may work as well, many non-custom pieces can be ISO where perfect fit is hit or miss, the way @VegNVape has it is nice bc he already has the male to male GonG (glass on glass adapter) for water use, then just threw a female j hook on it.

Couldn't sleep last night so at 4:20am I ordered a 32.5 degree 18mm M to 14mm M with one inch extension in the middle (per @cybrguy) from OGB and three different hydrotube type things from dhgate. I really like the simplicity of the hydrotube but I do worry about water getting in my Air or Nano. With the Zion, not worried in the least. Cmon October!

2 days until October 1st!! @thekarmawhore @RastaBuddhaTao will units be shipping Oct 1st or later in the month? I'm getting excited over here!
I'm dying to know when mine will be shipped too, but...I think we are all familiar with another device coming out and the problems they have had with promises. Let's not do that with the Zion, please. RBT has not made any promises other then "October" to start shipping. Let's leave it at that. The other vapes thread is almost painful to follow and I rarely check it, the Zion on the other hand has been a pleasure to follow. If November rolls around and we have nothing...then pitchforks! (I jest). Obviously everyone's opinion is just as valid as mine, I would hate to not be checking in this thread all the time though.

And maybe I'm totally wrong about the finger wagging then, makes more sense to be a wave, but could swear I see a pointer finger extended on him... lol
@Likes2vape first the alpha testers get production units, then the beta testers, we give the go ahead (seems no reason for any issue to arise given the beta testing previously though) for full scale churning em out, so a week or so into October would be more realistic for the first regular pre orders (though us beta testers are also paid pre orders mind you...) and will likely flow into November depending where you are in line (50 shipping in October seems most reasonable to me)
It was moved by the mods, & I'm sorry to say that it was my fault for not going the official route to run the contest in the first place
I just got all caught up in the excitement of the moment (who me?!) & didn't fully think things through . . . I guess 
It would likely have made a mess of the thread anyway, so it's probably all for the best.
I am currently waiting on word back from our fantiastic and awesome, hard working and dedicated, beautiful mods!

I just got some over priced but top top shelf buds to hoard for when the Zion comes. Close to 30% thc on both. It's the worst drought ever right now. Trying to save those for the Zion and just dab for a while. Gotta use some in the underdog of course, but full convection only!
