Ed's Wong, with Sticks j hook is my favorite!
Ratchetts song works well too, but is flimsy with the weight of the j hook on it.

The 1/4" nipple sticking out is about useless IMO.
It just doesn't give a secure feeling when passing around with a glass j hook on top, over say a concrete patio, or tile floor. Almost kills my buzz.
...........................................................
I use my mV many ways.
The Ratchett Song with the Sticks J hook is a two handed procedure IMO. Just sitting on a table, the J hook will "peel" the Song off as all the J hook weight is off to the side. I think Sticks uses that setup in bed where you are leaning back and that angle of attack works better.
Note: Ratchett made a Herbie Song, version 2, with longer overhang. With a longer overhang, the lightweight J hook would most likely stay on/ not peel the Song off.
Or.... the current Song/ J hook with a strong rubber band around the lip to keep it secure as the J hook is extremely light but it pulls sideways/ peels the Song off.

I find the @Ratchett Song + @Oregonglassblower glass mouthpiece to be much more stable. Sitting on a table, that combo does not fall off as the glass is very light AND presses straight down (vs sideways pressure with the J hook.
Each combo has its place where it shines.

@FlyingLow , I sometimes use the dry straw, the very short, hard plastic mouthpiece.

It is odd but I find the vapor cooler with the 2" plastic straw than with the 6" Flexicone Plus whip.

And now, @Ratchett offers his universal Song which slips over the dry straw and connects to a 14 OR 18 bubbler.

So many ways to use the mV and I'm always experimenting with new ways

I was using the straw and the whip, but Eds adapter hasn't really been removed since it's been attached.

I have one whip on the desk with 14mm glass attached, and I used to use that often. Now I just leave the adapter on all the time.

Worth while getting one of Ed's adapters to make the unit that much more palatable, I think with it being basically all convection it wouldn't do as many have reported (dries your mouth and throat out).

I use may vape's dry as I prefer to gather all the favour it can muster each and every hit, I do have a 14mm glass bubbler I can attach it to via the lotus I already own. Pity there isn't nice glass fitting to top it off better than the bog standard plastic MP or flexi tube.

Tough to beat the flavor the wood gives/takes on!
Also the mass of wood absorbs heat quite well.

I feel the same way about using dry, and getting the most flavor.
That's why IMO Ed's adapter from @stickstones is essential for us dry using flavor whores. In combo with his j hook, it really makes for a pleasurable experience.
I can literally have a 30 min session with the large basket, and forget to take a drink of water throughout the session. I can't do that with any of my other devices.

Cheers mule head have you tried it just with the flexi tube and plastic MP before, how did you find it? No problem if it needs a little redesign to get the most out of it. I own a j hook already from my purchase of the lovely lotus (my current favourite vape and there been a few beforehand) but it's only 14mm in size and I'm in the uk so getting one of those kits over here might be more a problem overall, not sure on that just prefer to get stuff from my own backyard ;).

But I like it!
I used both exclusively until a couple of months ago. I preferred the hard straw for driving and the whip for country walks our trail riding. The wood has displaced both, although they are both right where I can find them...

I still use water on red, but can go longer on green through the adapter.

I have tried both, and fortunately I bought my MiniVap from sticks about the same time he introduced Ed's adapter and j hook combo.
I would have been disappointed with my purchase I'm afraid if I had to rely on the stock set ups, or would be forced to vape thru water.
Good luck redesigning a delivery system that you enjoy!
The experimenting is quite fun!

Wow so it really makes such a big difference in your eyes, I'll have to invest in a Wong for sure now. I don't mind running they water but I do find it lacks a lot of body to the vapour, the taste is really distracted because of the water.

So does the wong simply sit over the flexi tube or silicone tips you get in the package, or does it attach underneath somehow? I'd really like some sort of glass fitting on the top as opposed to the wood effect, purely personal taste of course nothing to do with functionality

Team NO SLEEP!
Thanks for all the responses. IMO the jhook is simply not for me and has no appeal, this in spite of all the positive jhook comments in this thread.

I want a balanced piece that is stable, works perfectly with one handed operations, and is not so obvious. I need an ass kicking portable and want to use more discretion in public than the jhook can provide. Aside from water pipe adapters witch I intend to get song and wong, I think the only dry glass that interests me at all is the Oregon stem Minnesota posted.

What are the preferred adapters for 14mm and 18mm connections? I will definitely be getting eds, but could one post all the different options in one post?

Ratchet for songs
Eds for wongs
is Joda making any adapters for MV?

I've got about a hundred options, and the list keeps growing lol.

Here's a handy one :
-- The tube with the wood holder and glass 14 mm male end is the MFLB Water Whip , about $29.
IMO, all whips tend to get hot but the MFLB whip has the handy wood piece to hold it (ergonomic and stays cool for holding). The glass end also acts as a mouthpiece (14 mm male end) and stays cooler.
-- @Ratchett Song also works great as a SECURE whip anchor. The stock cover with it's tiny nipple is not great for holding a whip secure. Song holds it very secure!
-- versatile setup as I'll often use just the whip for temps 1 to 3 and then slip glass adapter into bubbler (like in picture) for hits on RED temp.

Lotta glass adapter options. Here's some of my @Oregonglassblower collection:
Oregon%20glss%202.jpg

Different angles for experimenting, different connectors for tubing, etc.
You saw my previous pic of OGB mouthpiece. Note that it is totally custom as he
can do different lengths, angles for you.

@FlyingLow - I also have the MV glass adapter which hooks into the end of the flexicone+ and has a gong joint on it. It makes for a floppy connection, but is cheap and works with the stock accessories if you wanted an entry level solution to play with.

Hi, I get an issue with the power adaptater, where the cable is plugged in the power adapter the connection is a bit loosely and the unit is constantly powered on/off when I move the unit..is it a jak issue or a PA issue? Any idea to resolve it?

I've had that.. Was the part of the cable that connects to the MV AC puck that was dodgy. Replaced. Now I'm super careful to have the cable rest in use at all times when unit is placed down/reaching temperature.

After I get my Zion, I'm planning to head up to JoDa Glassworks with it and my MiniVap, for some pretty intense R&D for both. I'm going to try and come up with an adapter that fits a little better, that JoDa can whip up easier than his carbed gongs. I bet he'll be offering a few different options for both very soon.

I'm still happy as fuck with the reducer mod! It doesn't appear to be adding any extra pressure to the "lid locks" on the vape body, which is my main concern.

I've also cut the top of a flexicone off for more air flow, it's a trip to look down into the gong and see the top screen. I cut it just above the first shoulder, so the air flow path is all about the same diameter as an ELB. Opens it up, and I think the air intake restricts enough to not overpower the heater. I'm still getting as even of abv as with uncut flexicone, so no change there.

Hoping to have time to figure out and post some pics soon.

Sorry for double post mods, too late to edit. You may need to fix my pics too, first time pic poster here.

Meet Greenie with glass! Sexy beast huh?

4WgNHwl.jpg

Bore out the existing lid/nipple with a #4 stepped drill bit. I stopped drilling just before the 3/4" step, and started fitting the reducer, until it snaps into hole. I held lid in my hand, some hand strength is required to hold lid tight, you don't want the drill bit catching and stripping the two pieces of lid materials. Also drill from both sides alternating occasionally, that gives you the cleanest hole when drilling.

CEhEMX2.jpg

I went to my LHS to fit the proper reducer, no 2 pieces of glass are alike. Make sure it projects out enough for a female 18mm to seat properly without hitting lid. This is a very close fit, I literally have slightly less than 1/16" between my j hook and top of lid.

This is with stock flexicone.

This is the flexicone mod with increased air flow

Another view of flexicone mod, and Greenie "at work"

You can see how tight the clearance is between j hook and lid when fully seated on reducer/gong. Lid is required when testing reducer for length/fit.

I *really* like the green! Plus the mod is great. Funny, but during my 703 km drive today my mind drifted and rambled as the music shifted, and at one time I was wondering if 'threaded glass' would be feasible, but I now see that particular challenge has found a solution already :)
