Greetings,

I finally have some news worth sharing. I should have the payment processing BS in place next week. Wow was that ever a major pain. The forms and the waiting and the bank approvals and with holdings you name it. The first company I started with after leading me on two weeks simply said they wouldn't do it. Worse yet paypal still has my account frozen. I can't buy anything on ebay and they went and reversed my last transfer of money out to my bank account that was processed before the froze the account. I guess they felt it necessary to hold my funds hostage. I no longer like that organization. They don't respond to email and after several phone calls have not got back to me even though I was promised by two different customer service reps that they would. So hopefully by mid week or so I hope to be back up and operational with alternative payment processing. I can only cross my fingers that this time I will be good for the long run. I want to thank everyone for their patience.
Also, I just heard back from my cap manufacturer. We had to rework some of the dies used to produce the caps in order to improve the quality control during production. On top of that, we had to create an additional processing step between on of the stages. All of the caps produced so far have been made on a manual press and require a substantial amount of handling as the need to be manually moved from operation to operation through the forming process. I find it amazing how a part that appears to be so simple can be so complicated to produce. Then again when I look at how thin the metal is and how far it has been stretched and formed without wrinkling, tearing or scratching wow is all I can say. These caps begin their life as a disc of sheet metal and are almost magically transformed into the high precision very thin wall cap that makes it all work. So that being said, I am still waiting on my first production run of caps and it will likely be a few more weeks. I will keep everyone posted as we progress, and I hope to have all of the parts I can fabricate or produce ready before the caps arrive so they can ship out quickly once the caps arrive.

So this is where I'm at. Please hang in there. I think we're on the final stretch.

Many thanks,

George

That is a great update George

Thank you for stopping my mind from running riot with thoughts of what might be.

I would love to see one of the metal discs which will eventually be turned into a VapCap - it reminds me of, as a kid, putting old style hard plastic yoghurt pots in a pressure cooker and reverting them back to their original disc form. Ah the good ol' days! :science:

Please hang in there. I think we're on the final stretch.
^^^I like this bit

We're all behind you George!

MuchLove.

Sad news. My VapCap beta broke today. It has taken a handful of rolls and drops inside my house, but today while walking the dog it fell and hit pavement right after my second heat cycle. Basically, i dropped it. Sad indeed. The exterior glass is all that broke, and i know the cap itself is the magic piece so i am not as devistated as i might be because eventually i will get some replacement glass and my production units will come eventually. Sadly i had a new lighter i just started testing yesterday, and i will miss the VC a ton tomorrow during the Lions game.

@VapCap thanks again for the beta run. I enjoyed it a ton. I will patiently await production units. RIP beta glass VC. You will be missed.

Dang, that sucks.

I'm thinking of ways to attach the unit to a wrist lanyard or a standard neck lanyard, you should do the same @VapCap.

A preliminary design for the wrist lanyard: https://i.imgur.com/y677NLP.jpg?1

A DIY one would be similar. Get some heat shrink tubing, slide the lanyard connector under the tubing and then carefully heat.

So far I have had the one exterior break on the way to me and an interior break during a crazy cleaning accident while very medicated from several cap fulls (new term for the bowl????). I'm just using the exterior glass piece until I can purchase a Ti. It still works alright without the interior glass. It has been getting the job done. I really love this little guy.

Is there going to be any glass in the Ti model George? How will that interior piece work with the Ti model?

Wow! Just found this and I want to order one ASAP. Perfect vaporizer to travel, usually I take my pax2 right now but this little guy is perfect. I love how you can use it just with a lighter, watching thread until they are available again!

I am still using my VapCap on a daily basis and still loving it. So far I have had no issues with it, even after dropping it once. Its great for when I want a quick fix.

Have you tried using the woody without the glass piece inside? I wonder if the woody vapcap works without the inner glass tube, like it does with the glass vapcap as @rweed described was his experience. Also, has the woody replaced your vapman? Is the avb coming out even and fully extracted? How does it compare to the vapman?

I have not tried using the woody without the inner glass tube, as I did not know it was possible to use it that way. I can give it a try and let you know if that works.

My Vapman was not a daily driver for me therefore the woody has not really replaced the Vapman. I got the Vapman as a backup, and to use when I was looking for a different vaping experience. The woody is so simple to use that I find I am using it at least once a day when I want a quick session. What is amazing is how hard this hits with such little material.

As far as AVB goes, it is possible to get consistent results if you always use the same type of flame and technique. I am still experimenting with different flames and heat sources, as well as different techniques.

To clarify I thought of a few more questions...Would you grab the Vapcap over the Vapman? Is the Vapman better in any way? Lets narrow it down to the torch that vapcap sends, since that seems to be what users are saying is the best flame source so far. By consistent results, what do you mean? Do you mean fully extracted and even results? How does vapcap avb compare to vapman avb?

I don't know if it's possible (apparently with the glass one it's possible) but If you could try it without the glass tube inside, it would be interesting to hear your experience. If it does work, is there a noticeable difference in vapor quality, smoothness, etc.

In my experience, the VapCap has been much easier to use. I always seem to scorch my herb in the Vapman. Again, admittedly, I probably don't have the best technique. For me, the VapCap wins. Better extraction and more consistent (evenly colored) ABV for me.

king_bob has the only woody vapcap in the wild, I believe, which is why I'm asking him all these questions...I want to know more about the Woody version and how it compares to the Vapman and the glass Vapcap for that matter. However, I don't think anyone in the wild has both the glass and woody version at the moment. I know those who have the glass vapcap say that it extracts better/easier than the vapman.

@bounce5 I would grab the VapCap over the Vapman as it is easier to use for a quick session, and gives me more consistent results.

I am still going to keep my Vapman as it is very well made and will last a long time. I believe the Vapman has a superior build quality and is less likely to break if you drop it.

With the Vapman I have rarely been able to duplicate the results I have seen on some of the videos. There were times when I got very nice results with the Vapman, but then again I have also combusted alot.
The big difference for me is the click I get with the VapCap. This feedback is making all the difference.

Post #804 shows the type of AVB I can get with the triple flame lighter. It is not always this dark but very close.

I guess I am not as precise as some people might be in terms of measuring the flame, the distance from the flame to the cap, the rotation of the flame, the location of the flame on the cap, etc. Yet even without all this precision the results I am getting are very good and consistent.

In a nutshell I would say the Vapman is like driving a manual transmission, and the Vapcap is more like a semi-manual transmission. It requires more skills, precision, and practice to use the Vapman.
