if you don't need a portable, get a desk top, no question. portables don't heat up as well as desktops, especially when you're drawing on them. I run hash through my SSV, and the results are outstanding

The Solo has been run over by a truck and it still worked. It was dented a bit but it worked none the less. Someone posted a pic here on FC about it almost a couple years ago. That was quite the testimonial.I can't really speak on the Solo, but I do want one someday, for its performance regarding an affordable portable Vape.
However, the DBV is always ready when you are. From cold to "Vape Ready" in couple minutes .
And regarding reliability, man.... It seems like I could run over my Buddha with a truck, and it would still work.
I personally prefer a plug-in, never have a dead battery, or a low battery..even worse a failed battery.
But, the Solo is hard to beat as a portable, many seasoned Vaporist love their Solo.
I'm a bit biased towards 7th Floor though.. Da Springs
If a person was afraid of a mess with the hash, just wrap it in something, hemp fiber even. I've heard @stickstones using the hemp fiber.

as a guide; put a little hash in on top of some AVB, hit it for 5 second to heat it up, then stir it all up in the bowl so it breaks down into a sandy mull, and rip

Silver Surfer is angled and imo is easier to use. Either unit if excellent, but the SSV is my preferred unit, of all vapes, not just between these two, it is very bong-like in terms of the rips you get out of it

I would say go for the Haze! I don't have any experience with other vapes, but lets just say I propably live in the same country as you and fresh herb is pretty rare from time to other. And I vape shit like that in the picture you posted.
And with the haze you get 2 chambers, and the batteries are replaceable. And I've used it pretty much everyday - all day since I got it due to a complicated health situation. I got it in february and it still works like a charm due to heavy use
And it's nice to have a vape that can do herb, wax and oil all in one.

Yo guys, I purchased the Silver Surfer (wanted Da Buddha but it was out of stock and I couldn't wait), will report back with hash vapour quality...
One thing I forgot to research about it is how wasteful is it towards weed? I know the volcano is the best for this and you end up spending about 1/4th of what you did when you smoked but how does Silver Surfer compare to this?

no vape wastes material, and congrats on your purchase. get an airizer elbow joint, put a basket into it and use it direct on the ground glass heater on the SSV for epic rips

Desktop bro.
Ok so the SSV arrived today in the mail. I did what was written in the instructions and heated it for 10 min at max first then turned it half way. I packed in some weed first (happen to find good ass kush) and no vapour came out, so I kept inhaling and turning the heat up and I only got some vapour at almost max temperature. Sometimes I got some ok vapour but others nothing came out. Since the heat was really high the weed turned brownish really fast.. I only packed a little bit, about .2 or.3 of a gram and I stirred it with the metal pick thing after every inhale
Next I tried mixing some hash with the abv weed and the same exact thing happened, little vapour however it did taste really good..
Not sure what I'm doing wrong.. Why is there no vapour when the knob is turned at the 12-2 o clock positions?? How do I get big ass rips like this dude

turn heat up and make sure you get an air tight seal on the bowl, that is key to big rips

Keep in mind that your hit speed affects the temp. The harder you hit, the more you lower your vaping temp. Also, in order for 12 o'clock on the dial to be a good vaping temp, your unit needs to be clicking on at 7-8. If it turns on at 10, then Noon isn't hot enough for big hits. The knob on the SSV can be pulled off and positioned differently if necessary.

yeah, that's a good point, draw speed will either cook your bowl at low intake, buyt hardly hit it at high speeds; pull slowly.
