I wish I was SiC like all the cool kids :ko:

Saving up for a new car has really limited my vaping budget. Maybe I'll sell some glass cause God knows I have too much

Or better yet, why can't I just win the lottery already :brow: SiC's for everyone! You get a SiC, and you get a SiC, and you get a SiC, and you get a SiC! If only I had Oprah's budget, everyone would be SiC 24/7

Monsoon's got it brother :) Alternatively, torch it over briefly before hitting it, ensuring that you leave long enough to cool down. SiC retains heat for a long time when torched lol.

Enjoy your new nail my friend! :D

thanks for the advice - making some fresh rosin to dab - almost ready to try her out

edit: some white fire rosin

love the dish - tastes so good and much bigger surface area - can really taste the diference

I almost regret getting the new HE base as it holds heat way more than my infiniti knockoff - between that and the larger surface area it doesn't heat up as fast or hold the temp as stable as it did with my old nail - but the flavor and convenience of larger dab surface make up for that - plus it really looks good - lol

@herbivore21 - I read somewhere here that you advocate buying the carb cap to go with the dish and I have to agree with you there 100% - I have used several nails and carb caps on this rig and I am now getting much more milky hits

Yes! If I were president, everybody would have their standard government issue SiC dish with dab rig. Growing and squishing your own rosin would be considered part of the social contract - a civic duty in this highest of societies!

Yup I'm a hardliner just like Bill Hicks before me!

Well I upgraded to it from the New-Vape one you have and I can say it will definitely be worth it when you do get it.

Please use a dropdown or 18m-18f adapter, would hate to see you break the glass joint on your rig.

while this nail setup does transfer more heat to the glass it doesnt get super hot at all and it is very thick there - I plan on getting a new rig with a 10mm male joint for this setup and returning the zob back to my desk top flower bubbler

until then I just wont leave my enail on for long periods

thks for the worry tho

Payday is close enough...

Just ordered a flat coil for my gimido e-nail, SiC dish, sapphire insert, v1 base, carb cap and ball point dabber.

When the next batch of Quartz halos come, I'm going to snag one of those and the HE infinity Ti.

Can't wait!

I'm about to have a shot at the quartz halo now :D

Just hit my new Sapphire Halo for the second time (but first time with THC in play) dabbed some THC Bomb rosin onto the sapphire halo at 605f or so (which is slightly too low temp for sapphire, leaving some trails) and am most stoked with the taste. It is like being back to my infiniti with conductive sapphire insert again, except I can dab as much as I like at a time without risking the dab melting on metal instead of sapphire :D

Now I will point out that the vapor is not quite as fine and dense with sapphire compared to SiC. Furthermore, I believe the lowest reasonable dabbing temp without significant, lasting trails on this is going to be about 625f or so. I'll update if I notice any problems at this temp. Still, whilst my dewaxed OL ACDC non decarbed nectar doesn't seem to taste as good on sapphire as SiC (I had noticed this in the past on sapphire inserts too), all of my other concentrates taste SO MUCH BETTER on sapphire. The THC bomb rosin has a very earthy flavor on SiC, whereas on sapphire; it is a clean, beautiful hashy flavor.

I have yet to try out my quartz halo, but will have a shot at that soon. Also got some additional analogue dnails so I can use my flower adapter and SiC/Sapphire/Quartz at the same time too :D - also to do something else rosin wise which I'll update everyone about in the respective thread.

EDIT: Ok, so I've tried out the quartz halo now. It seems to require higher temps in the same order as how much hotter sapphire must be run than SiC.

It tastes delicious. I can see people preferring this over SiC for taste. That machined dish really gets the job done spreading your dab around. The taste is super clean. I run this one at 662f. The flavor is not necessarily nicer, but smoother, less dense vapor than using the SiC dish. I can see people preferring this in accordance with taste.

I am not clearly in favor of one or another yet. Obviously before we get to flavor, SiC has massive thermal and durability advantages.

Sapphire definitely seems considerably tastier than the quartz. I do wish I had more different material to sample right now to really try some different tastes and see how they fare.

@herbivore21 662* for the quartz halo.

what are your preferred temps for the SiC dish?
and the SiC + Sapphire insert?

I'm still dialing in the temp on my SiC + Sapphire.
(Currently runnung ~621-631* on an Auber flat coil + Auber RDK200)
For just the SiC I'm running it between 670F and 700F. I'd probably go lower if I had access to better concentrates though I'm hoping my tek upgrades will help me get closer to that.

Cross post from d-nail thread for a bit of help...

That sapphire sounds really tasty @herbivore21, maybe a bit out of my price range...

Just got my Quartz Halo, not sure what temp to run it at.

Having checked on d-nails website and he science section, the graph for the Quartz halo says to run it at 810F to get a 600F dish temp.

Am I reading that correctly?

That could explain why our vapour is a bit wispy at 662?

SiC I use 599f, with sapphire I jack that up to 750f :D

Yup quartz halo needs extra heat brother, I use 710f or so for great temps (I am using my quartz halo with the titanium washer that comes with the sapphire halo in between coil and dish, so my temps may not work perfectly for those of you using the quartz straight onto the coil as standard).

I've got to say that the quartz halo is the best quartz I've ever hit by the longest imaginable shot. Vaporizes so much better than any other quartz I've used and the taste is amazing. My THC Bomb rosin dabbed on quartz at 710f tastes as good as the initial hits of the bubble it came out of being vaped in the vapman :D

I am in dab heaven up in here, been cycling between SiC/Sapphire/Quartz loads. Variety is the spice of life :D

I must acquire one of those titanium washers. Maybe dnail has extras and will sell me one.

Anyone using the analog dnail? How is it. I might have to sell my digital and switch to analog for some extra funds and extra space.

I've got a couple of analog dnails. They work well, once you've got the temp dialed in this is great so long as you don't accidentally bump the knob and turn it up/down. ;)

They won't have any spare yet, they were only made for use with the Sapphire dishes and you can count the amount of them in the world without needing extra hands ;)

Still, I am sure there'll be more in a couple months time when then next sapphire halos come in ;)

EDIT: Just dabbed some ACDC at 760f on my quartz halo (remember, CBD extracts need 80-90f extra temp for optimal taste), such amazing flavor! This quartz is really so much better tasting than all of the quartz I have ever used in the past, even the pukinbeagle ones (DI 20mm and Deep Dish Banger).

Agh fucking Gimido!!

My SiC and other toys got delivered today.

My flat coil was also supposed to be delivered today too but they sent it via USPS even though I chose Fedex (they only had fedex and ups as shipping options). USPS would have been fine an all but I put my home address on the order and USPS will not deliver to my address since I have a PO Box. Looks like it will get sent back to Gimido since it won't be deliverable.

Anyways, while I get my flat coil situated, I can torch the SiC right?

Just don't torch the sapphire insert?

You are correct sir.
Here are a couple of handy graphs, showing thernal retention after torching a SiC dish:

I'd be extra pissed since the time difference is about 1 week extra to Canada (ironically less time from China).
