Suggestions for a new vape pen?

Well, I have had a love/hate relationship with my Persei/Hercules for a while now. I ended up busting the bottom of the Herc twice when it rolled off a table. It was never the same since, even though I replaced the piece twice.

Last week I took it to Lockn' Festival and it gave me shit all weekend. Towards the end, I took the Herc apart and was soaking it in ISO for the plane ride home. Well, someone accidentally threw the cup I was using to soak it away.

So now, I'd like to find a different pen. I use my own shatter made from Everclear and I am looking for something that handles that type of concentrate well. I want reliability and I want something I don't have to fuck with constantly. I'll use it in the car, skiing, festivals, etc.

Any suggestions? I know there are a ton of pens out there, so I'm a bit overwhelmed and confused as to which direction to go.

i just got into the persei myself, i really enjoy the AC dual coil @ 7.4V.
I wen't with the Persei because it seemed to be the most popular/best device when i was doing my product research. I am happy with my setup, it's odd though because all i see now is hate for Persei's and W9Tech

before my persei i tried different pen style vapes for oil - didn't think i'd try another because they all seemed the same- all Grenco knock offs. (i still use micro g for stealth)

If i were to get another pen right now i would tryout the Source Orb just because of the double coil option.




I know there is no easy answer, your right it is an overwhelming decision/search. It would be so nice to be able to try them all before you buy

Thanks. Yea, I don't hate on Persei, I am just hoping to get something more reliable in crazy situations. I was always gunking it up at inopportune moments and using my Pax as a backup. I just want something that I can drop a half gram of shatter in and go. Maybe the only product is Persei for this, I just don't now at this time...

Nobody have a suggestion for a pen? Maybe this is in the wrong place for this question?

Yeah, there are some prototype atomizers like the puffin which may or may not be what you are looking for in the future, and I believe there are a couple others out there which are similar coming out soonish or now. I haven't looked into it that much.

Pretty much, the herc seems to be unique with handling larger loads atm though. Maybe it is the battery and not the atomizer causing your issues?

Might want to check out the dipstick also. Vape Dr. put out a neat video on one, if you get a chance. It would be more of a, bring your little jar of concentrate and dab on the go sort of idea though. But you could bring all you want and use it wherever.

I picked up the Imag+ from PIU on Randy's suggestion, couldn't be happier with it
(Battery is not as good as the Flowermate 5s though)

I just go with cheapo $30 pens.

I was interested in w9 for the longest time, but decided no because I do not want to have to tinker with a pen for it to work. I only want it to work, no adjustments, period. Just from reading the forums, w9 does not appear to be plug-n-play.

That has not been my experience at all. I have been able to use the Persei with the Herc74x without a problem. I also have an old double top that I use with the KISS cart and that hasn't failed me either. People who don't have problems don't post as much as people who do. I hate having to buy shitty devices all the time, knowing that they are disposable. Since the demise of Thermo essence, W9 does a pretty good job, IMO

OK, yea I have been using the Persei/Herc for well over a year. If I hadn't have lost the Herc I'd still be using it. And I may yet. But I really was hoping for something that didn't gunk up and fail at inopportune times. The Herc was great... until the bottom chamber filled with oil. This happened a lot. Ideally I'd like to drop a 1/2 in and have it work. I guess that doesn't exist in a better option than the Herc.

I am seriously considering the DipStick. You don't fill it, so it doesn't get messy. Not sure how convenient it would be on chairlift, however. It's like this- we need a pen we can take skiing, hiking, to festivals, etc. So it needs to be something that won't fail at 12000 feet and is easy to use.

I love my Sr71 herc never have problems unless I let someone else hit it.
Usually I can teach most except the I already know I've used a vape pen before type. Lol

It always seemed that I would be at a festival or something and find out it leaked into the bottom chamber. I'd be on a chairlift and all of a sudden I can't get the thing to turn on. The Herc is like a friggin light saber, too.

I don't know, I was hoping there was something better for MY situation...

I don't use the Herc as a portable, either. It's too big for that, IMO. Instead, I use the double top with a single 3.7v and a KISS cart. I figure that for portable use that should be sufficient. If not, I can just put another dab on the coil. It's been very reliable. If that ever breaks down, I have an Omicron Lite with a KISS, but I've barely touched that one yet.
