Discontinued The Herbalizer

Have you actually changed out your screens for brand new ones?
I kept cleaning my original ones and thought they looked good and clean but the performance was not good, so Herbie got shelved for a while.
I also started to only use the bags because they worked all the time.

I changed out the screens for brand new ones and Herbie is awesome again!
Whip works awesome again and almost instantly milks up my WT's.

I never preheat the bowl...
I have about 10 screens that I actively rotate (usually 24 hrs in ISO bath), but do not have any new ones to try. If these screens need to be actively cleaned, they should create a coarse screen option.

How often are you guys deep cleaning your Herbie bowl? My Herbie bowl isn't super gunked up and I've been swapping out my screens often enough, but it seems like my denser clouding has decreased lately and gone back to what I'm used to (plenty of visible vapor but not milking the bubblers).

I will probably give it a quick ISO wash this morning after my shift ends and see how it performs.

I almost never need to clean my Herbie bowl.
And why is that, you ask?
Because most of the time I only use the bottom half of the Herbie bowl with the miniVAP module (wire basket/ screen/ flexicone silicone cover). I love the module as it keeps bud from touching the bowl, keeps bud from touching the Herbie bowl bottom screen etc. The Herbie bowl top half isn't used so never gets dirty. The Herbie bowl styas spotless. You can load multiple miniVAP modules as they are a cheap accessory vs $$$ Herbie bowls.
Picture with @Ratchett Song and Herbie whip. The ratchett sONG was made to fit over the Herbie bowl but I like this better. This is not a solid connection though. you need to lightly hold in place.

I try all kinds of variations. My new Herbie flavor of the week is the Herbie bottom bowl, with miniVAP module sitting in the bowl, with HT sitting on top.
In picture below, imagine base to be Herbie bottom bowl instead of miniVAP. HT just sits on top.

Can the minivap module/baskets be purchased as accessories or are they only bundled with the device itself?

Like you I am always toying with setups and trying to optimize my experience since it does vary from a lot of other Herbie users.

I currently use haze convection screens in place of the herbalizer screens but I'm interested in your setup with the minivap parts.

So it looks like Herbalizer is for USA only now? No more sales outside of the USA? Bit of a bummer for Canadians, unless buying from eBay (which probably means no warranty). It's too bad that @Engineer has vanished, I guess he wasn't exactly right, but not wrong either. Nice to see the Herbie is still alive, i'm waiting for an email back from their customer service.

I've only used the concentrate pad for oils thus far, and I must say it works great!

I was wondering whT technique you guys have been using for vaping both concentrates and flowers at the same time? Do you use the bowl without the pad and sandwich the concentrate? If you did that, I think you wouldn't want to stir because it would make a mess of the bowl and screens.. So what's the best technique?

Does anyone ever have issues with vapor escape when using the Herbie through water when engaging the fan assist?

It's hard for me to determine where the escape is coming from, but certainly near the bowl area. I'm trying several different setups to see if it's my glass vaporizer adapter which has a 90 degree bend. For the next few days I'll use a 18mm female straight adapter from oregonglassblower and see if that doesn't curb this behavior.

Also, I found about 6 semi dirty Herbie top screens and decided to stack them all together and run them through the vaporizer. Had a couple big thick draws and got a decent bubbler hit. However, I hooked up a balloon and that was a very rich, we warding experience. I intended to smoke flower after this but I don't believe that will be necessary. I kinda wish I would have started at a lower temp because 445 is feeling great.

My Herbalizer is not filling bags effectively. It always takes at least 1.5 presses to get a bag full. I've cleaned the screens, replaced them even and I make sure the bowl isn't packed too tightly. Any thoughts?

Dirty bowl screens and older bags can both cause this problem.

Please let us know how that goes.

Haven't heard back, since it's been a few days I don't think I will. Ah well, maybe Herbie v2. Just really sucks for those that need service, parts, etc. PV told me they cannot get anything from them, it's all within the borders of the USA only.

You should be getting plenty of respectable vapor at 375+. I have trouble getting my bubblers whitewalled like I prefer, but the vapor should be rather plentiful.

@MinnBobber, I'm intrigued! I'd love to skip my daily screen-swap, but I don't think having to hold it in place would work with my setup.

Does anyone know of a 'screen capsule' or something (maybe like ELB but I've not seen one) that would fit entirely inside the Herbie bowl? Then you could omit the top screen and just flip the capsule's orientation in lieu of screen-swapping. I look at the tea-ball I use to make Earl Grey and get jealous...

I use two Haze convection screens that I've re shaped into half-domes. I could leave the top Herbalizer screen out entirely but I keep it since it still catches a little bit of residual oils.

I've been looking for a short ELB but have not found anything yet.

Do you stack the two screens or create a screen globe?

I have done both buy more often I create a screen globe

What is the purpose of this? If the goal is only to keep the top screen clean it seems like more effort than it is worth because eventually you have to clean the top screen anyways (oil buildup) and now you have these other convection screens to clean each time. Is it for different air flow characteristics?

The haze screens don't really gunk up like the haze screens do. Usually a little brush gets everything out of the way and it keeps the herbie top screen cleaner longer.

If the top haze screen ever gets too funky (doesn't much happen) I just swap it for the bottom haze screen.

I just find that using the haze screens prevents clogging of that top herbie screen. I just find that I retain a clear air path longer.
