It appears to have been replaced rather than repaired - My original one had a 1AA1 serial number; the one I received has a 3AA1R serial number.

The R in the serial number does indicate that is a refurbished unit, put together by hand by one of our techs in the US. Glad to hear the performance is better than ever!

Does anyone know of an oven cap or a thin sleeve( to contain the odor when the unit is off )is available somewhere?
The Ascent does come with a silicone cap you can put on the stem to plug it, however, we don't have an accessory to cover the oven.

RYOT makes a small bag called a smell safe.

I think you can buy them from Da Vinci.
This is true! We do periodically sell and bundle vaporizers with RYOT carbon lined smell proof carrying cases. You can check it out on the site here: http://www.davincivaporizer.com/carrying-cases/
These cases are made to fit both DaVinci and Ascent units.

Is there anybody OUT THERE? (forgive me Roger Waters) The silence on this forum for this past week has been defining! Where is everybody? I'll even
settle for a few complaints.

It was a weekend. I was pretty high for most of it, and staying away from this computer was a priority.

My Ascent is going strong and will be having a 2 year birthday in October. The battery is about 50 min of use. I don't use the Ascent everyday but at least couple times a week. The Ascent came out 2 years ago. What will I do though when the battery is toast?

I haven't read if the company has a set up to assist when needing another battery, of course for a charge.

If the Ascent sits for a while the battery doesn't seem to go down much. Since I only use it just couple times a week, it's hard to tell how accurate I am. I try to keep track, for the sake of science.

I hope the company has upgraded the silicone gasket because mine is a little loose. Most portables don't hold up long term, some do though.:leaf::peace:

You can purchase the out of warranty repair on our site here: http://www.davincivaporizer.com/service-plans/
You don't even need a real problem to send it in for this service. You can simply pay the fee, send the vaporizer in and we will replace all the internals, including battery and bowl for you.

Well, I am sitting at this computer today so I thought I would write up my thoughts after having a DaVinci for six weeks.
I'm happy. It performs as promised. This is a rarity in the world today.
I only use it about twice a day for just a couple of pulls each time and that's all I need to be where I want to be---though I do start the day with a bit of tincture in my first cup of coffee. (All the ABV is saved so that I can continue to have tincture in my coffee.) I charge it about once every 7-10 days; letting it get down pretty darn far before I do recharge.
Even on days when I know that I won't be using it except at home I bring it with me wherever I go. After only a few weeks I don't feel complete without it in my pocket.
I'm happy.

After looking through all the info I could plus always wanting to try this cool looking vape I went ahead and ordered one . I hope I get a good one that last a long time with no problems . I can't wait till it gets here.

My second Ascent (1st one had battery-charging problems - replaced by store under warranty) is going strong after a year's daily use. The exterior (black) is a little scuffed and I can't seem to get the oven/chamber clean but I soak the glass stems a couple of times a week to keep things fresh and wholesome. Never got to play around with glass spacers, just use a pinch of finely ground covered with the mesh at 195ºC - then, next session stir it up a bit and finish off at 210º and 221º (max temperature). Effects are generally good, depending on strain, amount used, number of tokes etc. etc. etc. - I wouldn't say I've got it down to a fine art but I pretty much know what to expect at this stage. Should also mention that I've never tried any other Vape - there are so many out there, each with its own quirks and tricks...If this one ever stops working I'll definitely buy another one

The Ascent I bought two months ago has a copyright date of 2013 on the box. I'm considering buying another since it works so well for me. What will be the difference between the old and new one?

That's really good news about the Ascent under the hood kinda tuneup with the new battery. When you buy a vaporizer and you have such a great company as Davinci it gives you a safe and secure feeling. Thank you Davinci for letting us know about our options. The Ascent is definitely a keeper.

The Ascent logo and the packaging received its copyright in 2013. A new Ascent will have the same copyright on it. You can tell the year of the Ascent by the serial number:

1AA1- 2013
2AA1- 2014
3AA1- 2015

My serial number isn't like that. Stamped on the seal in front of the chamber is 056855. These are the only numbers I can find on the unit. What do you make of that?

Sounds like the "?AA1" rubbed off the bowl of your unit. The packaging would be the only way to tell your serial number then. When your unit was brand new, was the "AA1" also missing?

I logged into the Da Vinci site to see how my order is progressing, the order page shows the price different to what I initially paid.

Can anyone advise why my invoice appears to be changing and am I going to get shafted on my Credit card and charged more than I initially checked out with my shopping cart?

As far as I can tell it never had any "AA1" markings but it possibly could have since the numbers I can read are hard to make out. What would I look for in the packaging to date it. Isn't there a design change in the unit that would be a clue? I bought the vape from your website as part of a bundle deal.

Edit: If I ordered a custom design would that guarantee getting the newest version?

No doubt someone can, but not here? I suggest the proper venue for such inquiry would be with them (DV) not us (FC)? The only DV guy who ever reads/responds here is stationed in China working on production issues, he'd most likely have no idea. I'd suggest contacting them (DV) directly.

FWIW your 'electronic signature' (approval) of the original purchase is the only thing that has weight from a contract standpoint. Upping the price after the fact is as illegal here as there. DV seems a pretty 'up front' outfit, I'd be very surprised if there's anything underhanded going on. Too big a risk for too small a gain?

Good luck resolving it, I just think that's not going to happen here since this has never been reported before?

Hi OF, thanks for the reply... it's got worse since posting and speaking with my CC company.

I have emailed Da Vinci to try to sort this out, as they quoted in GBP, invoiced me in GBP, only I now find they charged my CC in USD and now my CC company wants to charge me a currency conversion fee. I am not a happy camper to say the least!

I expect to be charged the value I was quoted in the currency I was quoted!

Good luck with that one, I tried it once and lost. Although it was the other way (UK product shipped here). Seems they can quote you in any currency (using 'current rates') but as a practical matter they (being a US company) can't 'charge' Visa (another US company) in anything but dollars as was explained to me (but 'the other way about, the transaction in my case happened in the UK in pounds). I went back and checked, and 'clues' were on the original web page, I ended up paying very unattractive 'official' rates to have my ten pounds per box fancy Brit pellets......and got to pay another ten pounds for shipping each of the 3 boxes (rather than ship them as one box.......no skin of their backs as the saying goes). FWIW there seems to be some other deal to do with Canadian Dollars, my CC company takes the charge in CD$ and converts to USD with at least some Canadian deals.

Glad you're working on it, but as I suspected above the answer/solution is not to be found on this Forum? BTW, in my case some of the increase was a conversion fee from the CC company, something DV has no part in?

Good luck with it, in the end Ascent is worth some extra effort/expense 'up front' IMO, and it is a one time deal. Perhaps the best bet is to cancel out and look for a EU supplier?

I just want to find out what is going on, as I checked my account again and the price has changed once more and has gone down, this is very bizarre!

An invoice should not be dynamic, once a fee is paid, an invoice should accurately reflect the numbers involved!

TBH - all things considered, their current deal with free car charger, free u-tool adapter and free international shipping, even with the hidden charges from the currency conversion by my CC company, it's still cheaper than what I can find this side of the pond for just the vape on its own, so its not all bad.

OK I found one on amazon for 20 quid less, but it isn't the design I want and it isn't direct from MF, which is also important to me, as I want to be sure of genuine product, I already own 3 cheap Chinese vapes, don't want another, hence buying the Ascent!

It's never a good experience when you buy something online form an unknown, overseas, e-tailor and when you check your account the amount on the invoice keeps changing and the currency doesn't match either!

If that happened to you the first time you shopped on TinyDeals / AliExpress / DHGate etc, you'd be panicking for sure and checking with your CC company!

Thanks for the additional info. Sounds like at least part of the 'funny stuff' is with your CC company? There's no way I know of that DV can change anything after the transaction is put in? The best they can do is a second charge or a credit back to your account? I agree, there has to be a track with other people's money, but it seems the numbers changed after DV put in the invoice? I see the CC company there, perhaps DV never had a hand in any of the confusion?

You call on the best deal in town, only fair since you get to deal with the problems? I too like buying from the maker if/when I can for several reasons. In this case I'm thinking your experience fits in 'everyone else' in the 8000 or so posts here in that you got an honest transaction from DV.

It can be tough on the nerves, but hopefully will sort itself out. The arrival of the Ascent may help????

I'm a spacerless Ascent owner and was wondering whatever became of Davinci's (or anyone else's) experiment of using the spacer and removing the bottom internal straw since they look similar and maybe get some less resistance ,maybe even a small screen to pick up the bits & pieces that might get through.

@OF - Slight confusion here I see... I'm talking about the invoice when logged into the Da Vinci site that keeps showing different amounts!

I definitely wouldn't panic then. DV may well be trying to sort it out? Until they ship/invoice the CC 'nothing counts'. Talk to them?

You can always just refuse the CC charges I guess if it doesn't work out.

I still maintain the answer is not on this Forum........

It's cool, speaking with them via email right now, they have asked for screen shots, perhaps its simply a bug with their website and I can help them fix it :)

OMG I just found out that there are clone/fake Ascents . Does anyone know how to tell the difference ? I have never seen a real one just hopeing the one I got from someone who said they ordered a couple for himself and friend for gifts then found out his wife bought him one . I paid 150 for it he said that's what he paid from massdrop. It's the stealth model if that matters . I should be getting it any day. God I hope its real.
