Okay so I have had my SSV for like eight or nine months and I really love it but I do have a question and that is if I use at least once a day for a week or two I get like chapped lip on my bottom lip and it crack like right in the middle and hurts like hell. If I take a break for like a week or two it goes away but once I start back up same deal. Does anyone know how to prevent this?
Stop sleeping with your mouth open when you are really high :p

Sounds like you are getting dry lips (probably with a dry mouth) which can be from either the cannabinoids biological effect or the physical properties of hot and dry vapour - probably both.

The only thing that can prevent this asides from your proper hydration (and maybe some lip-balm? i am a slave to Carmex and have no shame in carrying it daily haha) would be to use something to try and hydrate your hits a little more.

A bubbler is good, a bubbler with warm water is better :D
(Edit: to clarify, i use a small bubbler which never has blowback, and wouldn't use a larger bubbler due to this problem. Guess i should of said)

Until then, ill work on an IV attachment for the whip - that would stop me coughing :science:

FWIW, I was suffering from a lot of coughing and dry mouth/lips/throat/etc. The bubbler route didn't help too much and the negative pressure generated from the bubbler which then would push the herb out of the wand and onto the heater became way too big of an issue for me to tolerate; I reserve my bubbler for concentrate use where that never is an issue.

What has consistently worked for me is taking smaller hits and drinking some water occasionally. I also have subjectively found that some strains (like White Rhino) just destroy my throat with irritation or act as an expectorant.

Yeah I got a couple of bubblers on the way and a new bong also. I am going to try out the bubblers with my SSV when they get here.
My kids make fun of me cause I always have carmax on hand lol.

First and foremost I love my SSV – this thing rocks, even when not at 100%!

Looking for advice from experienced users….

I seem to be having an issue, my heating element in my SSV seems to not be high enough,or the standard HC that it came with isn’t going all the way down. When lookingdown the hole where the wand goes you cannot see any of the element, thus it’s not getting as hot as it should.

I bought the unit from an authorized retailer last October and really didn’t startusing it until 3 months ago. I noticed while using it I had to start at 80%power initially to get any vapor. I am at 100% half way through and once thevapor stops at that point I know I could get more if it got hotter. Note I have tried pulling the element up as well prior to putting the HC back on, it’s still too short.

It seems like the HC may not be going all the way down and touching the screws (mayan 1/8 of inch off) – could this be causing it, If so any recommendations on getting the HC all the way down? I have done everything mentioned in SSVs video and at this point am afraid I will break the glass.

Could you snap a picture of your HC and the gap between it and the screws, also try and get one of the heater position in relation to the HC wand connection - it sounds like your gap is normal (3mm?) but the heater seems to still be sitting too low.

Very silly question but worth the 10 seconds to ask: have you tried pulling the heat element up at all? I've also noticed some give on the HC, I can rock it forward and backward a few centimeters but surprisingly haven't noticed much of a difference between the two orientations. Lifting the element up, however, makes a huge difference in my experience.

As for getting the HC down all the way, it took me a few tries but I finally got comfortable exerting enough strength to get the cover down all the way. It's certainly a very, very snug fit for the standard HC while the oil nail kit cover is loose unless I pry back a few of the slats every time I switch it. Still need to save up for another SSV........

Thanks for the quick responses, so here is the best pic I could get
dudyvbc.jpg
. Couldn't get my camera in a good enough angle to get the screws

I called Customer service and they recommend I unscrew the base and push up on the element, that unfortunately didn't fix it and it's still in the spot in the pic.

Does this look off before I go through the trouble if filing a warranty claim ?

How long is that process, anyone know?

Thanks!

Have you tried using it as is?

It works as is, but in order to start to get any vapor I have to turn it up at 75-80% power, then as vapor starts I slowly turn it up until it goes no higher.

At 100% power it still feels as ( product is light brown/green) I could get more but I can't turn it up any more.

Not that I want combustion , but at 100 or close to it should be hot enough to combust right?

I've never gotten my herb to combust with max heat, but I have gotten it quite black.

So the element doesn't go any higher at all if you pull on it? The pic you posted shows the element lower than mine, the heat cover actually pushes on my element if I have it full extended.

Yeah that's as high as it goes after pulling and after taking off the base and pushing it up. :(

Argh, bummer man :( I wonder if, with the proper measurements, you can exchange your heat cover for one with a shorter neck?

Got my SSV in the mail yesterday and I love it... Any advice on cleaning it after vaping hash? I mix the hash with a little bit of tea so that when it melts it doesn't go everywhere but the wand still becomes filthy on the inside after every hash session..

Which wand are you using?

Thanks. Do you think I can use part of those stainless steel sponges ( like this one http://www.globeequipment.com/Content/Images/434_1.jpg ) as a liquid pad? Cause not a lot of sites deliver to my country and the ones that do have expensive delivery.. I already kind of spent my money on the vape lol

As long as its safe to use at high heat and will fit inside your wand it should work. S&B is in Germany

Got to say, these days i have been using a GG HC with a straight bore and the VapeXhale ELB's.
Its pretty superb, i stick the cap on there too and crank the temps up a little (less thermal mass, the bud sis suspended in the ELB essentially, no glass to bud contact).
