I load a vaporizer by feel!

I've never used the pick to set screen or herb height, so I've been using feel since the beginning. But it does make a nice stir tool, but you could almost use anything thin enough to fit for that task. I have a fixed screen in my Ed's stem, but I use my other multi purpose tool, the mflb mini brush, to set the adjustable screen (handle side first) in my GonG and even that I just eye it.

so far my nano is great, easily one of the best vapes I've owned. Only "problem" I've had was tamping and setting the depth of the herb in the bowl. 3D printed up a quick attachment that hooks right into the Epic Pick so I can stir, tamp, and check the depth all with a single tool / hand. The small ridge is the minimum depth the material has to be at, so its easy to make sure nothing touches the nanos screen.

Perfect tamp and depth setting every time now ;)

Love this idea since I don't use pic for anything but stirring having a second option (tamping), on one tool would be a nice option. I love the 3D printing. However being a southern engineer (handy redneck) without access to a 3D printer I rigged up a quick build prototype out of the end of a mechanical pencil cover and an eraser and it seems to work pretty good.

Looks slick, holds tight, and more importantly makes a good functional tamper on the ePic.

Now to recreate it for the Masses:

Parts list:
• .22 or .25 empty shell casing (If you don't have access to a cool looking pencil end)
(I think for the size you might even get away with using as big as a 9mm but you will have to try one and see)
• a standard pearl pink (or I guess any color) eraser. OR 2 part epoxy.

Directions: take the shell casing and push it into the eraser till flush, pull it back out and then with a knife make a perpendicular cut into the plug you just made to free the plug (I just eye'd how long the shell was to know where to cut, this released the eraser plug. I then took a knife and split the plug in half about 2/3rds of the way (easier to handle if you don't split it all the way). I then put the eraser around the end of the pic and pushed the shell/pencil cap over it to lock it into place. The epoxy could be used if you want a more permanent option, but you can get another 5-6 eraser plug replacements in that one pink eraser.
Edit:
Visual so you don't have to imagine it:

If you tamp down too hard it will be harder to draw from and you won't have the airflow going through your herb. Do what works best for you but this has been what I have noticed.

I can physically feel draw resistance in my dry stem, so I wouldn't tamp that, but a slight tamp on my water pipe GonG really makes for a good thick draw and I don't notice the draw resistance as its drawing a much larger volume of air with the water pipe.

You guy's and your tamping depth tools???

You scare me!
Your kind of like ZOMBIE people.

@RUDE BOY has a ROSARY?

What pagan cult was that adopted by?

I'm going to load the NANO by hand and read a book!

GOD GIFT = Too much laughter
Banana Electric = Medicated
I have 9 other strains however I don't want to be a ZOMBIE in the middle of the day!

I have an empty pen that I use to tamp, and it's a pain to have two tools to tamp/stir... especially when you're dealing with WP usage.

The bowls are great in that they're small, but that means I need to take the nano off, stir, and re-tamp several times a session... it's a pain.

Would love it if I could get a single tool that was a tamper that fit the nano on one end and a stirring thing on the other.

I keep Aluminum Nail tamps from habit from smoking, but the head is too big. I'm thinking about picking up several on ebay and trying to grind them to nano-size.

It's all in the reflexes.

@Ratchett sells a tool.

Team NO SLEEP!
I don't tamp. I hate restriction... FUCK RESTRICTION:D
I don't give a shit if the material touches the screen.
I don't keep my stems upright.

My screen and heating element look as new as they did a year ago when new.
My material vapes evenly and as much or little as one wants want, control is easy with Nano.

Couldnt agree more. The nano is so precise with the temperature, that I control the cloud density with inhalation speed, therefore draw resistance due to tamping has no place in my house...

It is such a cloud monster!

Mr. Backdraft, would that be me?

I think they thought of all that with this pic

Just a few ways to use the e-pik. Think I was at 10 or 12 uses last time I tried to count, and that's not even considering the distant to herb part (never seems to work well for me). You can even tamp enough with it if you give the load a few pokes in different spots.

I only saw stir and scoop, i need stir and tamp -- did i miss one?

No stir-n-tamp yet, tho I think it is in the works. I kind of agree. Would rather have a tamper than the scoop, but the scoop is pretty cool and works well for me!

Still love my golf pencils for a quick tamp. Or, cut about 4 inches off the flat end of a disposable chopstick.

That nail tamp looks pretty cool too. I bet you could pick up a couple nails with the right sized head at Home Depot or something, than flatten the other end with a hammer if you wanted. May work well enough with just the standard point instead of flattening since the nano end of glass is so small. Definitely give any nails a good cleaning before using them. I'd wash with dish detergent, then clean well with ISO.

If you're having trouble with little trinkets all over your vape station, check out the Kind Cache Tray. It's nice to dump duff in (tapping glass on silicone is so much nicer than tapping on glass!), and the little caddy on the side comes in very handy. It is set up to hold one 14mm GonG, one 18mm, and a bic lighter. I have a 14mm GONG that holds my pencil, a spare 18mm GonG ready to go, and have poked some holes in the lighter part to hold scoop-n-stir and e-pik (or it will stand OK in the little slits). Think it was like $13 on Amazon.

@flotntoke I will almost definitely be grabbing one of those. Concerned about if ABV just sticks to the silicone, that would be a hassle.

Right now I use a Ziploc-brand gladware style storage container... which happens to be 4.5" across, the diameter of my pipe's base. So I use it as a stand, because it's stable and helps me not hurt myself by bending or holding the pipe aloft. Still probably use it, but that thing looks much handier.

It sticks a little, but brushes off really easy (usually just with finger). Is nice to have something to give a few good knocks on and not worry about cracking glass. Stainless bottom is easy to wipe out with finger and dump. If you plan on using AVB later, I'd still transfer to something a bit more dark and airtight. I dump it to another tin once or twice a week.

This one is supposed to glow in the dark, but like so many cereal box toys, it doesn't really. Looks nice under black light, tho!

Think there are a bunch of colors and even some swirls. I like the caddy thing hanging off the side almost as much as the silicone.

My home situation needs to be a bit stealth. My new roll top desk has provided me with such desktop stealthiness, that my nano is now super stealth while at my desk working (or playing). Great set up. This walnut beauty is a true workhorse.

In my current situation, power cords in the living room don't always work (and I don't even mind using the cord anymore), and it's starting to irritate me. Could you imagine a nano with a battery? I know one day they'll be a cell powerful, small, and inexpensive enough, to be realistic. I just miss my Nano when I can't use it, now that I'm getting pretty good at it.

Miss the power, taste, efficiency. I get so high and use so little herb, it's sick. Thank God I have some good portables that can recreate, to an extent, the glass stem experience. Just can't suck on plastic anymore (and I don't mean plastic AA tips - like those).

Exactly, the larger pieces tumble down but the dust and tiny pieces can stick but brush down easily, not a hassle at all. Mine glows in the dark, not illuminated like a light but definitely glows in the dark. It's brighter than my glow remote but less than a bobber or glow stick. Have a great weekend Nano Nation!
