Discontinued The Persei Vaporizer for herbs and concentrates.

THE KISS FREAK

Rock & Roll All Night & Party Every Day!
@Jambi619 , you need at least 3.7 volts to power the AC single, double & donut. The single & double can be run from 3.7 Volts to 7.4 Volts. The donut is 3.7 only. Hope this helps you. It does take a few seconds to start producing vapor, but once it does it's a champ.

Thanks for the reply. I thought it might need more power, but wasn't sure cause the instructions said using VV/VW mods can damage the coils. I'll bump up the juice and see how she does, but yes I've thoroughly enjoyed it thus far despite the minor confusion.

Sorry this is a bit late, but I've been really enjoying the 3.7v rod. It seems to have helped most leaking problems my wife and I were having learning the herc. If your herc is clean you can also use this rod with dry herb and no coil, it won't combust even with the core at 4.2v IME.

I also just realized my ophos evo d works great with oil at 3.7v in the herc, not using passthru or anything. I know this is the Persei thread but if you have an ophos evo d it will even fire up the Persei-threaded dual coil kiss gen 3. If you don't, try unscrewing the kiss gen 3 from the Persei just a little - this at least was a workaround to not flash red on my omicron HVD v2 + the Core before sending it in for an upgrade.
I just wanted to follow up on this - I just tried out herb with the 3.7v rod again resulting in some light charring on the first hit, so I'm pretty sure you can accidentally combust even at 3.7v. My Herc was likely not assembled totally right when I had it previously bumped up to 4.2v with no combustion. I've since picked up an ohm meter and got the resistance down from over 1 to .86 every time, that's probably why. Now it fires hotter and harder than before. Also probably explains why I kept having trouble with long warm-up times using oil at 7.4v and ending up with the load in the reclaim chamber despite long cooldown hits. Time to jump back to the 7.4v rod with oil!

Just got my V4 replacement in the mail and I barely get it to fire my AC. Thankfully they sent me a hammer top. Is there anything I'm doing wrong. Please help, I need this to work for a DNB show.

Also, 8 is more reliable (once set up properly), as it will never throw a low resistance or low battery error.

I just wanted to say thank you Gary for helping me out.. I really appreciate you making that unboxing video and doing a Skype session with me so I can understand the 8 better.. Your company customer service rocks!! Thanks w9tech

glad i can help your vaporizer has been used with multiple carts now and it is still going strong.

on a side note i have tasked my engineer to fix the issue with the kiss AC and Persei top even if its less then .5 % of whats out there. That is unacceptable to us and the last ( once again generation of persei tops ) is under full development again.

With our capabilities now growing are able to design better boards and the next generation should once and for all fix all issues with current cartridges.

Including Kiss AC.

New tops in development will have a .5 ohm capability with a low voltage kicking in at 2.7v when using a 3.7v battery.

When using a 7.4v battery it will have a .5 ohm capability only with Kiss AC carts and low voltage kicking in a 5.7v

Pass through none operation range will be around 5.0v-5.4v

These numbers are not 100% but will be once we finalize the board.

But here is the kicker.

Anyone who has paid for a touch button top upgrade and has a kiss AC will get the new tops for free, as long as shipping is paid. You just have to return the old top.

this upgrade is for the black and silver units only, if you have a different color unit then your unit will be upgraded to black or silver including tube and top for $10 and at the same time for the off color ones you will also get a free Kiss Gen 3 cart.

I recently got a 510 ego battery that only blinks on my gen3 dual coil KISS carts. The battery runs at 4.11 v fully charged. All of my other 510 egos from other manufacturers run these KISS gen3 dual coil carts with no issue.

excuse the ignorance, and I know this is a bit off topic, but do 510 batteries usually top out at 3.8v? Trying to figure out if this is just a defective 510 battery? I ain't going to keep it around if it can't fire my KISS gen3 carts!

@notoriousLrg The issue is more likely that 510 ego battery can't fire the low resistance (high load) Gen 3 KISS cart and it blinks either due to the resistance (or due to the battery voltage dropping too low when you try to fire the cart)

thanks SamuraiSam.
I got many different 510 ego batteries and none have this issue. Like I have a 1100mah battery that when fully charged is at 3.8v. And I have two EGO-T 650mah batteries. Fully charged, one is 3.8 v and fires the gen3 dual coil just fine. Only this one 510 650mah battery has the issue. And the manufacturer says its 'normal' for them to run up to 4.11v.

I know the one 650mah that works is lithium polymer. But the other lithium ion. could that be related to the issue?

All ego batteries use pulse width modulation circuitry with limited boost capability.

It is the tester that reads 3.7v or 3.8v because it'sin DC, but it's actually 4.2v when fully chargedto full test pulse width modulation you need to have a tester that can do AC and DC and it will read 4.2v when fully charged.

What this means is that when under load meaning when the cartridge is attached it will try to keep the voltages up and provide as much vapor as possible.

This is also limited because once the battery voltage drops below 3.7v then it can only supply what the battery voltage is.

Hope this helps.

Also some egos can't handle the 5 amps it requires to fire the gen 3 from dead cold status.

This is great news, will definitely be trading my V4 top in. I get blinking lights on both the Kiss gen 3 and AC.

One suggestion (or wish) - Please disable the Hammer Mode!!!
It gets turned on way too easy. Cant tell you how many times I or someone else have done this. I almost anticipate it now when I let friends try the herc. Blank look at me after using like "Why isnt the light turning off" as i come running to unscrew the cart (and all my oil is dripping to the reclaim)...

i will post up a video of proper assembly of the 8 once i get some aw imr batteries here this week. So that i can have it fire on batteries and show you how long it takes for the Hercules to warm up.

Ill do herc sr71 and sr74x
THANK YOU! This would be awesome! I just don't have the ability to do SKype but a video of both 71 and 74 and 8 assembly will be awesome!

This is AWESOME! Thank you! One suggestion like the other guy. Please disable the hammer mode or make it much harder to turn on.

Ack. I'm in the other camp; I freakin' love how Hammer mode is built in. I've been using my Bender more the last 2 months then I ever have since I bought it during last summer 2014's 4th of July sale. I use my Alpha Centauri on my 8 but I can understand the frustrations if trying to use a coil heater at 7.4V

My suggestion is to use slightly longer pulses or teach your friends to use slightly longer pulses with the touch top. If you hold each pulse longer then a 'tap' it won't register to activate Hammer mode.

No problem here with the Hammer mode. I haven't had reason to use it. (I do plan to get The Bender soon). I have accidentally turned it on but never when using it with a group of people. And when I have mistakenly activated Hammer mode, it usually just gets to the flashing light point before I realize it.

Personally, it is fine the way it is although it wouldn't bother me if it were harder to activate. Please keep the Hammer mode.
