Discontinued The Grasshopper

Im sorry if this has been asked or posted already.... but can anyone post accurate(ish) dimensions of the GH? Does anyone own a grasshopper AND a set of verniers? I'm machining myself a stainless steel storage/filling aid (kind of like the thing for the crafty) and want it to be more or less ready for when my hopper arrives in October (hopefully). Thanks to anyone that can help

Excessive heat, such as has been described at the back end, may be problematic because although one may avoid it by handling it in a different position, some folks might be caught by surprise or not have the dexterity quick enough to avoid a finger burn ...or one could have a heat avoidance reflex whereby the pen gets dropped or flung across the room.

I think that's a excellent point. There are many medical patients that need ease of use and safety.

Just as well that these won't be readily available. The more of these that are made the better they will get.

Thanks for all the reviews.

Any heat at the back end is a defect. If some units are not exhibiting this flaw that means that all of them should not. Email GHL and say that you need a new back end.

GHL really needs to up their in-house testing. Since this is a known defect they need to test for it prior to shipping. Warranty replacements have to be killing their margins! After waiting this long, people can wait a bit longer to ensure they have a unit that has been tested for known flaws...

does your back end get hot at all like the other user's unit that posted earlier today?

In short, no.
Though, though the SS backend I'm running on my Ti has a few times. Startled me, actually. Not hot enough to burn but hot enough to get your attention real fast and make you move your hand.

But a replacement is on the way for that one already, and it's a mismatch so it's hardly fair to judge that.

Original Ti and new SS never get warm.

Early Bird checking in. I am now on my third replacement hopper and just received a second defective back end. The back end simply gets too hot to use. Additionally, battery life is under one bowl regardless of the battery I use. I am thankful for their relatively quick responses and replacement units and back ends but I'm not sure how much longer I can keep playing this game.

OMG, seriously GHL! I know you guys are amateurs but you are going to figure out really quick how to go bust if you keep this up. I really hope they are still silently reading this forum for feedback.

Our "Be Nice" rule applies to manufacturers as well. Warning point issued.

Trevor HEY!
It is best to hire a team to test your device!
If you continue you doing these tests we never have it running smoothly.

I DON'T WANT ONE

For me I have forgotten it, just come here to laugh

All this is to be expected. This is new to the market and the company is new. I figured there would be a certain percentage of faulty units. That's why $300,000. is a small amount when it comes to starting up a company like this. Shipping alone is a lot on a large scale, quality control is critical for GHL.

This is why you need plenty of beta units. I would sure like to know the story whether or not there were betas on a large enough scale? Not enough said about that IMO.

Sorry to hear that. Do you know the dates you received each of those hoppers? I was under the impression that there was a "fix" for the back end heat issue. Sending out replacements that have the same issue makes it sound less like it was a bad batch or QC, and more like an unsolved design problem? But if it were a design problem wouldn't more of them show this flaw?

Replacing those back ends can't be cheap. Especially with some of the TI units, where a specific color back-end has to match with front piece. I imagine a growing pile of leftover TI front ends that are now missing the back part. Maybe they will get to selling those mismatched parts at a discount?

It also seems a little weird to just send a replacement back end. Why not send a new complete unit, so the old hopper can be sent back so they can take a look at the defective one whole? The problem might be somewhere in the front end, or in the battery? In that case they can send all the back-ends they want, but it might not address it?

Just got my GH, took it for a test drive with 2 other friends, and I must say i'm impressed.

I also own the Inhalater XP, which I was use to the slow and steady drawing. Took me a few tries to realize this method doesn't really work well with the GH. A note about the loading, i've been using the INH capsules. Yes, they are slightly larger than the actual opening, but it all funnels into the chamber minus a few small particles, which is quite easy to wipe off.

The GH is superbly made, easily the best vape (actually, i'd daresay portable device i've owned in terms of build quality).

Out of the vapes I tried (PAX2, INHXP/05, Ascent, Solo), the GH definitely has the best taste IMO. Some people might argue with that statement, but with those vapes I listed you need to do slow draws. I found with the hopper, you can take a huge rip at 4/5 while still getting good taste while producing clouds.

I must admit, I was having second thoughts before my shipping confirmation and actually asked Trevor to cancel it at one point due to all the defects. I couldn't since I backed through IGG, but thankfully he didn't because it's by far the best vape i've tried, and that's ignoring the pricepoint. So for anyone having cold feet, it's definitely worth the wait and any issues that might arise.

My only one minor complaint is the 1-minute timer.

Perhaps GH knows precisely where the problem is, and if it is an isolated defect that doesn't involve the rest of the hopper, why not just replace the defective part, as seems to have been satisfactory for most RMA's thus far?

Sounds good. Then what's happening in this scenario?

Is your backend getting hot as well?

Heat requires energy. If there's a short causing the back end to heatup on your hopper, this may explain the poor battery performance. The hot backend may be draining the battery faster than you can vape.
