A few hours after a long vaping session I get a dull feeling in my head and sometimes a headache.
Does this ever happen to you?

Well vaping/smoking weed causes dehydration/ cotton mouth ;) t-dub is right-it's probably cause you're not drinking enough water or you're just too stoned
Yup @randybishop smoking/vaping does dehydrate you - I'd recommend making pouring yourself a glass of water part of the vaporizing ritual.

If that's not it, then it would have to be contaminants in the herb or something faulty being exposed in the vaporizer airpath. Drinking water while vaping is a much more likely cure, though.

I've had certain strains of cannabis that's given me a headache. I wouldn't know the name. That was back in the black market mystery strain days. Try a lower temp.:2c:

Following up: I lowered my temp on my vaporizer and NO MORE HEADACHES!
But I don't get as stoned. I wonder why a lower temperature can prevent
my headaches? Possible carcinogens when nearing combustion?

Your vaporizing different stuff at the different temp. Do you get this from all weed or just the strain you have right now. Just curious. If it was all weed strains I would wonder if it is your equipment is the cause. Ive seen some convos online about outgassing of chemicals in some vapes. I think from some ceramic parts maybe?
I agree with the water suggestion but I usually just get headaches from coughing:). Really though some strains just do give me a headache but most don't.

Hey!
Thanks for your reply. Get headaches from all strains. Using the "da Buddha". Have you read anything about da buddha and outgassing (what is outgassing)? Da Buddha does have a ceramic heater.
I welcome your thoughts!

Get up take a walk or something active enough to bump your heart rate and breathing a bit. Ten or fifteen minutes will usually take the edge off headaches I get from too much inactivity, it might help.

I get the same problem on days off when I vape from dawn until bedtime. Generally, I consider the slight headache to be from; a) dehydration b) just being a little too medicated - lots of flowers + concentrates.

I think the off-gassing they are referring to is what happens with new vapes. For example some kind of residual grease/dirt or such being vaped and producing a disturbing gas/vapour. I don't that would be the case with your DBV.

Yeah I think your right about it happening to new vapes. Any one I tried tasted funky when new but it goes away. Im no expert on it at all, was just tossing out something to look into. I would be bummed if I got a headache every time I got high.

I agree with the dehydration theory, there are lots of us that do not come close to the daily recommended amount of water per day(I myself am guilty)

I'm very pleased to hear that you've ridden the headaches by lowering your Vape temps.

What I do every day...
Instead of reaching for your coffee or energy drinks first thing in the morning, grab a 18oz glass of cold water and "chug" it down .

This kickstarts the Metabolic System for the day , I started feeling "better" in general after employing this routine after only a few days.

In addition;
The Traditional diet does not supply enough Magnesium or Vitamin D, after I started supplementing these 2 essential Vitamins ... The difference is quite noticeable.

I am disabled (Auto-Immune disorder known as Ankylosing Spondylitis)
I also try to get at least 10-20 minutes of sun exposure (More Vitamin D) and take a walk around the block.

**Always check with your Doctor or Pharmacist before taking any Vitamins and/or Supplements **

Hope this helps,all the best,

My wife gets these horrendous migraines. They start in one eye and the pain travels through her head from one region to another like it has a free bus pass. Years ago...At one point the pain and frequency were so bad that she considered filing for disability but she was determined not to allow the headaches to rule her life. During the worst time ... the drugs they had her on made it impossible to hold a conversation. We can't count the number of prescriptions, differing diagnosis and approaches the medical community has provided. In each case the 'new' solution was an attempt to mask the symptomatic pain and not cure the disease. Been to all manner of doctors. Over the years a combination of the differing diagnosis and solutions lead to a lessening of the pain and frequency but not a cure. These headaches still make an appearance but they don't occur as often and they aren't always as debilitating.

The reason I mention the above was she got one of those headaches Friday and nothing was working. In the past, when all else failed, we attempted to vape them into submission but it never worked. It didn't make things worse though. On Friday I had two Solo stems that were more than half vaped at level 4/5. I told the wife that I had read that vaping at higher temps may release more of the 'body/physical' high. Since we generally stick to the lower temps maybe going to level 7 and finishing off those stems might provide some relief...even if it's nothing more than a stronger than usual couch lock. She finished off the two stems and told me that 'maybe it's just the placebo affect, but she felt the high was more physical than mental and relaxing'. A few minutes later she said that the pain in her eye was gone and had moved to the side of her head and lessened somewhat. Another minute or so and she said the headache had just disappeared. They never just stop like that.

I don't know if the above will work again or if it was just the placebo affect. Unfortunately these headaches will give us another chance to prove the theory.

@His_Highness that is wonderful news for your wife. I like using the high temps late at night when I get a lot of nerve pain. The high temps and edibles help me to get the rest I need at night. I use temps 6 and 7 using a bubbler with my Solo. Or crank the ENano up to 7.5 and use a water tool.

Using concentrates inside my herb helps too.

I've found now that I do a few higher temp vape sessions a day I only get nagging headaches a few times a month and not full blown migraines anymore, used to suffer from migraines 2-3 times a week.

Smoking or doing edibles always made 'em worse, since I've been vaping at high temps the last few years I don't have 'em.

Could just be coincidence with the timing because no doctor could ever isolate what brought the migraines on to start with but I know only high temp vaping works on the neuropathic pain in my hands and feet and now I'm migraine free.

:peace:

@CarolKing , @RUDE BOY .... So maybe we're onto something here! I hope so. Nothing sucks worse than watching someone you love in pain and not being able to do anything about it.

Carol - Thanks for the suggestion on using the bubbler when going to the high temps like this....we usually reserve the bubbler for special occasions. I'll mention this to the wife so one of us remembers to break it out the next time the session is an attempt to deal with a headache.

Try different methods of inhalating if possible.(fast v slow) (whip vs cooled through a bubbler etc.) I get migraines from concentrates or potent ogs especially when's it's hot. Indicas give me the ugh... couch lock if it's humid aswell.

My wife got one of those headaches again last night. I had saved another Solo stem that had been a little over half used up at level 4 so that we could test the premise of higher temp vaping not getting the wife as high and still dulling the headache. Unless we're going to be alone she doesn't like to get totally stoned and would pass on the MJ even if it would help the headaches. Besides...we already tried vaping at lower levels and it did't help.

This time we broke out the bubbler as CK suggested for the higher temps and could see she was getting average clouds at level 7. Probably a good 4 hits before the clouds parted. About 15 minutes later while lying on the couch my wife said she felt the headache move from the front of her head to the back like last time. I asked her if she was buzzed and she said 'yes, but its weird because I feel more like I took a strong muscle relaxant'. Another few minutes passed and she said she could feel the pressure of the headache where it was last but the pain was just about gone. She also said 'Thank goodness you spent all that time reading on that web site'.

All I can say is .... amazing! I'm still not completely convinced but it did work again and I am getting hopeful. She doesn't like to get fully buzzed unless we're alone. So..........If this works the beauty of it is she can beat down the headaches without having to get so stoned.

It depends usually on how hydrated I am and the amount of stems in my bowl. I noticed that I would get headaches the day after smoking a bowl with even a single stem in it. After I stopped smoking stems, the headaches went away.

I typically only get headaches from lack of sleep or if I have a drink of alcohol.

Yesterday, I had the worst headache that I can ever remember. Sometimes my shoulder muscles get tight and they pull my spine out of alignment causing headaches but this one last night was different.

As I put my ear to the pillow to sleep, I could hear my blood pulsing in my head. I held my breath for a minute and the blood flow noise got so incredibly loud with pressure noise/intensity, so quickly, it freaked me out to the point I almost called out for help.

Then, just as soon as it happened, it was like a dam broke loose in my head and the blood pressure noise I was hearing disappeared and my headache was gone instantly.

My first thought was, "I just had a brain aneurism/ blood clot", but so far, I feel great this morning.

It was such a weird feeling/sound.

Normal?

Quick migraine eradication score report......please note I am not a doctor but I did watch Dr. Oz in a Holiday Inn Express once.

6 wins for MJ and 1 win for migraine.

The wife has spoken. We are done testing and MJ is the clear winner with some caveats.......

First, timing is key. If she medicates at the first sign of the migraine she may stop it in its tracks or significantly lessen/dull the pain. Wait 15 minutes or more as its progressing and it either hangs in there at that level or follows the usual trajectory to headache, eyeball pain, light sensitivity and throwing up.

Second, trying to vape off the migraine once the migraine has progressed to defcon-4 has made the migraine significantly worse. She won't try that again under any circumstances. As far as she's concerned - catch it early or forget the vape.

Third, if it's going to work she knows it immediately. The migraine travels from the front of her head to the back and then dulls or disappears within 5-10 minutes of vaping.

Fourth, a strong head high/buzz is not helping and may actually be counterproductive. In other words... if she gets seriously high trying to get rid of the migraine ... it seems to mess with her too much and the MJ doesn't provide relief. Could be psychosomatic since the times it works well has been with gently used ABV that makes her feel more of a physical affect but not much of the mental. She has told me that the ABV affect feels more like a muscle relaxant than a full out high.

My wife's migraines are so severe that she has auto-pen-shots she can give herself in the area around her stomach and these shots are seriously painful. We ain't playin around here. I'm glad we have something else in the arsenal. I just wish it was as simple as vape and escape......

@Joel W. - About your post above....Uh, no. Not normal IMO.

Yeah, everything I have read points to a blood clot from my carotid artery to my brain, Aka stroke. I think I got lucky..

I have had a full check up recently with MRI a few years back. . No issues.

Fuck 30 years of bad living and cigarettes... If I quit posting. You will know why. :)

Glad that vaping at high temps seems to work for your wife!

About 10 or 12 years ago my doc got me ahead of my lifelong migrane freight train with a script nasal spray that numbed the hell out of my sinuses and forehead...Fairly certain it contained some pharmasuetical(sp) Cocaine or Zylocaine. It would only work if I caught the headache on the upswing though. If I waited too long I was SOL..If I reached the point where light sensitivity kicked in all bets were off and I would have to suffer for the duration...You might want to explore the nasal spray option for your wife...My migraines came to an abrupt end after being diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic...Totally reworked my diet and exercise routines and immediately dropped 50 lbs...Zero migraines since...As others have stated hydration is always a key with any Cannibus consumption...Hope your wife has found a path that consistently mitigates her migraine nightmare...Migraine is an all consuming pain that at worst can challenge your ability to resist and cope...
