Herb Grinders

Came to read about grinders; fucked combustion
When I just pretended to order a grinder, without actually ordering it, shipping came out to $0, and a $39 grinder came out to $33.15, including shipping.

does anyone know of the cali crusher home grown? that sucker is 89 plus shipping for the 2.5 inch.. wow right.. i just spent 71 on my santa cruz right from them i got the medicinal use only small size.. funny enough i just had purchased a golden gate grinder last week and i hate the consistency is horrid.. also customer service sucks whats the point of lifetime warranty if i cant get ahold of them after 3 emails and a weeks wait.. so unpleased with the company and grinder i emailed space case, santa cruz, and cali crusher.. space case got to me after an hour.. titts right.. i emailed santa cruz at like 2 in the morning the form asked for my number and email and i asked my questions.. i woke up to a missed call, and email, and a voicemail from santa cruz i called back and got all my questions answered. i immediately put in an order straight from them.. i could have gone on amazon or an authorized site but why? i was very pleased the way they handled my questions without actually being their customer..

anyone currently in the market to buy a grinder i know its not much but at the santa cruz website if you use the code SHREDHARD you get 10% off which for the small 2 1/8 size is 6.50$ off

Finally just said "What the hell" and bought a medium Space Case. Thought I'd give a quick comparison to my Sharp Stone.

First off, the SC is bigger than I thought it would be. (I honestly didn't measure and assumed it would be about the same size) That's perfect! I felt the SS could be a bit small when grinding larger buds. Yeah, I could break them up but isn't a grinder supposed to be able to handle it? The SC seems to grind easier and faster.

IMG_2191.jpg

The speed & ease of the SC compared to the SS is likely due to it being bigger & providing more natural torque (I think) and the fact that there are simply a billion more holes to clear the grindings through.

Another thing that was obvious was the magnet. The magnet on the SC is STRONG. You can feel it really grab. Holding it just by the lid you have to actually shake it to disengage. The SS magnet disengages by barely wiggling it.

I wasn't sure that paying more than twice the price for the SC would be worth it, but I am impressed enough that I'm considering picking up a small SC grinder as a companion.

...And for anybody who noticed the lid on the SS, I was NOT using it in this condition.

After getting the new SC (& removing all the kief from this, of course!) I decided to clean it up & give to a friend. I gave it an ISO bath. I only soaked the lid for a few minutes and it looked perfect when it was removed. I guess the lesson here is to not buy a grinder with a gimmicky clear lid, but if you do don't get that shitty plastic near ISO. Recycle bin, here ye come.

My Compton 4-Piece grinder has arrived, and I LIKE IT ...A LOT!!! Built like a jeweled tank, polished to a flawless finish, colored a beautiful anodized blue, parts fit like DNA to a helix and screw/unscrew with ease (I always apply Chapstick to the threads to avoid threadlock), grind is an even fine/medium fine (diamond teeth are SHARP), turn-grip grooves are very ergonomically effective, kief screen is the perfect fineness and super easy to remove with the screen removal tool provided, kief catch at bottom is easy to empty & clean i.e., smooth/curved bottom corners, Teflon grade O-rings, turn-lid magnet is very strong! 9.8/10 ...well, I always allow room for improvement, but I'm hard-pressed to identify any here.
Specs
  • Aircraft grade 6061 aluminum
  • Stainless steel locking ring
  • Stainless steel micron screen
  • Anodized finish
  • Dimensions: 2.5 x 2.5 x 1.1 inches ; 6.1 ounces
  • Made in America
Included
  • Screen remover tool
  • Teflon grade O-rings
  • 2.5 in Compton Grinder

Thanks for posting your thoughts Snappo :)
I went for the blue one too and can't wait for it to arrive now... fingers crossed for this week

I've been using an old battered "pollen blitz" grinder for the longest time but the plastic ring has worn wafer thin and I I'm looking forward to retiring it.

Remember to apply Chapstick to all of the threads for ease of opening/closing and eliminating the possibility of threadlock (wipe off residual balm) - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! For an even finer grind, if desired, turn grinder upside-down for additional grinding time, then turn over to finish the process through the holes. ENJOY!!!

I often have to use this 5-piece upside down to make sure the little tiny nugs don't just fall through :\
I hope I don't miss the second screen too much though as this grinder is great for collecting kief.

Thanks for the tip with the chapstick, but even after wiping, wouldn't it make dust more likely to stick to the threads?

Trying to order a compton grinder small 4 piece but I can't figure out their website with regards to Canadian shipping with PayPal. I emailed them and PMd on facebook/Instagram so we will see what's up. Asked for any available discount codes too:brow:

Trying to find the cheapest place that sells the small 4 piece that accepts PayPal and doesn't cost and arm and a leg for shipping!

@Aimless Ryan i might need your internet detective work haha.

I was going to order one from everyonedoesit until I saw them on massdrop.
Also seen them on grasscity for a similar price, but not sure if shipping costs would make it cheaper from either.

everyonedoesit does not accept pay pal. I found one black 4 piece on ebay but its almost $20 american shipping. PayPal pisses me off with there policies sometimes lol. Should be no more than $10 to ship

Apparently if you order a grinder off comp tons site today you will receive two free replacement screens.

Still no sign of the SCS large 3 pieces a week after they said they would be available!

CAli Crusher Homegrown looks over engineered to me as well as phoenician grinders. Never tried them tho. Scrared of wasting my money

Also I say Kannastor has relaunched they offer a new greater style Vape grinder the Gr8ter and Vape Gr8ter.

http://www.kannastor.com/index.php/products/gr8tr.html

looks interesting might want to try the Vape one!

I have used old kannastor grinders in the past and they are well made for the money a slight step below SC and SCS but cheaper in price.

Canadian shipping is very reasonable from Amazon but they don't take paypal unless you have a paypal debit card. I looked at the Canadian Amazon site and the cost of the Compton grinder is outrageous. Much cheaper to get from the US even with the exchange rate difference.

***EDIT*** I may or may not have just bought 2 new SCS instead lol!

@whatitdew I kind of feel like I'm not really able to be helpful in this Compton research. My brain just does not seem cooperative right now. (Plus I just got some weed that seems to kill pain, relax my ultra-tight muscles, keep my legs/feet/toes from jumping around, AND make me pleasantly stupid, which is a feeling I've been missing for a long time.)

Sorry. Thankfully, it looks like you're doing pretty well on your own.

What do you mean by over engineered? Because there's actually less (yet larger) teeth in these, to me that's under engineered if anything, but maybe I'm missing your point.

How is this brand cheaper than scs when they are priced from $70 - $90?
I bought my medium 4-piece scs for around $55 shipped

Lo and Behold! The transformative power of Vapor.
Still happy with my SC shredder. :) Trying to convince myself that there are better/wider choices. But the teeth design just does it for me. Can get 3 types of grind with some work. Actually pulls materials apart as opposed to using a cutting edge. Holes are spaced about right, etc. Diamond teeth with the other grinders seem to have all the blade type problems. Please tell me any negatives of my SC, So I don't get too opinionated. I am trying to discern from what I have to what is out there. Some of the other 4pc grinders offer different mesh screens or use thicker metal, more ergonomic. But my Medium green SC is only second to my toy scissors. Maybe the MFLB has something to offer my double grind method with the SC doesn't offer. :peace:
