Starting from left to right...
Turbo Stem- nice milky hits all flavor..
metal stem - that is the one i use when i want to get blasted. Does a better roast on the herb
The next 2 - adjust a bowl config..i use those on the hybrid...pure TASTE!!! then i turn the dial up and let it take me home.
Wood stem glass tip- use that on the hybrid. nice taste and the wood well it just looks damn good..lololol
All wood stem i use on SS core...i like to pack that one tightly and usually that config is a one hit and quit, cause i am on the floor coughing up a lung.
The last one is also an adjustable bowl config..i use that on the SS core when i want taste and dense hits.

The stems in combination with a voltage keeper just turns the Hi into a beast. I can go low temp, high temp and anything in between.
Now that's the kind of review I'm talking about!!!!!

Thanks for that write up @hoyo77.

I have been mostly using my SS tip wong with my SS core. Big dense hits.

What voltage do use with the hybrid and Slide-a-bowl?

on the hybrid i dial it down to about 11.4 and get those tasty hits...dial to 11.7 to get that midrange flavor then 12.1 or 12.2 to finish it out.

@Zadner - Glad to hear it arrived safely. Happy roasting.

@hoyo77 - Thanks for posting the photos the roasting tube discussion.

@Nugg - Very nice photos. Thanks so much.

I get requests occasionally to provide a roasting tube stop on the outside of the Heat Island stainless steel heater cover. It has been suggested to simply use silicone o-rings to provide the tube stop. The silicone o-rings would be subject to temperatures at or exceeding its limitations. I also don't want to introduce hot silicone into the air path. Instead, I found that a 3/8" stainless steel retaining ring works perfect for a roasting tube stop. It fits perfectly into the groove from the internal tube stop.
It is now an option for anyone ordering a HI.

I remember when I received my first hi, it was last summer. Alan announced a new policy right about that time that anybody who buys one would be automatically re-added to the list so I have been expecting my next e-mail. But it looks like I have a few month yet, which suits me just fine because I want to get a matching set this time! It's also a bit confusing though, because it was also announced shortly thereafter that he was ramping up production; does anybody else remember something like that?

Maybe I was the only one unaware, if it is sorry for the useless post.

I was under log vas attack (I think log VAS is different from generic VAS @NickDlow knows better than me) and I wanted a dc log right now to use with battery pack.

I am on Alan list since last february, so my turn is not coming very soon, I asked him if it happens to have a refurbed HI waiting for a home.
He answer me he has no refurbed HI but he has still some old style HI (only 4left now)

Edit: damn phone typing! So i was saying he has 4more old style HI ready to sell!! Walnut or cherry only, I have mine on the way!

I'd like to buy a new roasting tube. Is there anyplace online where I can view all the current tubes that are available?

@hoptimum you can check out most of the rosting tubes here.

I'm sure there are a few new tubes Alan is making that aren't listed there. If you send him an email to tell him what you want the tube for and what you want to achieve with it he will be able to recommend something.

gracias, @Nugg. I've seen those, and I've got the Cork on Glass WPA. I know @Alan has mentioned some new ones here and there. I was just wondering if he had them in one place so I could check them out.

Which way are you leaning at the moment?

The SS definitely extracts quicker and at lower volts but the hybrid is sooo tasty.

Are you going to use a VVPS? You can achieve lower temp hits with the SS (which runs pretty hot with a standard wall adapter) by moving the screens further from the heater but you can't make the hybrid hotter with out cranking up the volts.

I got both cores because I suck at making decisions lol.

VVPS is definitely in the near future. Hopefully I can pick up one of @VoltageKeeper 's beauties. May try with something cheaper, and more readily available in the meantime. Last I checked on them there was a bit of a wait. Still have to get over to his thread and catch up, though. Sorry if not appropriate to ask here - just let me know - but if things go pretty much as they do for others, if I order a VVPS around the same time I complete my order with Alan, will they both get to me around the same time?

I am a flavor fiend! This is why I was thinking the hybrid may be better for me. Not much of a cloud chaser anymore, either. When I'm looking to take my lungs to the limit, I usually just reach for a dab.

@flotntoke If you are a flavour fiend the hybrid core will be your best friend.

Not too sure the lead time for VK's atm. I think @VoltageKeeper can knock out the non battery versions pretty quick though.

I wouldn't say that a VVPS is a necessity for a hybrid core unless you wanna go really low temp.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, it also gives you the ability to go higher and get the high temps CBD's. Defiantly not a necessity but personally I highly recommend it! You can't go wrong with a vk but like nugg said, there's a bit of a wait. But once you get it's worth the wait.

Got my old style walnut HI!!

Love it, SS stems are so fast extracting and so frugal I think even frugaler than nano!

If you wait before hitting Ss stems taste a little radiation (or conduction if you prefer to use the wrong term :-) but it is normal since ss is a good heat conductor; if you start hitting immediately it taste convection for sure

Using it only on Battery it gets hot in only 5 min at 12v.

Cant wait for my turn next year for a custom new style one!

Thanks a lot Alan!
