Arizer Solo

For me when I want to use a vaporizer watching TV in bed I choose the Solo. My battery is still at around an hour, it over a year old. The convienence and the awesome flavor on temp 4 and bumped up to 5 can't be beat. I love the durability of the Arizer products.

There's a picture about a year and a half ago of a Solo that had been run over in the snow and it still worked, just an awesome shot. Perfect for a commercial. Can't wait to see a vaporizer commercial someday on TV. I never thought I'd see cannabis legal. Anything is possible.

@Bravesst i have a fav brother in law that is a retired fireman. From a smaller city than you, more a town here in the Pacific N.W. He uses cannabis and has for 40 years or more. He's 63. He's still pinching himself too that our fav flower is legal. He's a cannabis smoker though. He never had to take any drug test to keep his job or anything. I've been trying to convert him, stubborn man.

"stubborn"

I grew up along the ocean.
My friends (I do have some?)
They all use Zig-ZAGS
Vaporizing is not permitted.
Too covert them to vaporizing would be like telling a religionists person that his religion is man made!

I lost a few friends along the way!
That is why I'm SOLO.

So, I've run into a bit of a thing. As I posted a few days ago, I broke my bent stem. I just received a new replacement in the mail from PV (along with a bent PVHES), and I noticed that the new bent stem whistles quite loudly when I inhale through it. Any suggestions? It's the exact opposite of stealth, so unless anyone has any ideas, I'll probably contact PV and see if they can send a replacement.

My guess is 'too perfect' a hole. Have you tried it loaded? How about with a screen? Disrupting the uniform air flow at the offending location should change its' tune........

Otherwise, it's likely to drive you nuts.

I don't hear any whistling when it's unloaded but set in the Solo, so that's a positive at least. The problem is that the way I load my stem is by inhaling through the end while hovering it over some ground material, and that'll be really annoying if it whistles every time lol. Hopefully once the holes get a little resinated then the whistling will go away.

The other problem is that there appears to be a small crack right on the tip of the mouthpiece by the lips. It seems to be wholly interior, as I can't feel any grooves or gouges when running my finger over it, but I'm worried it could propagate.

The cold end of the stem? Does the crack extend through the 'fire polish' on the end? A crack on the hot end is likely to get worse with heating, on the cold end I doubt there will be an issue unless you drop it.

If this is the same stem that whistles you might kill two birds with one exchange?

It's on the cold end. And I'm not sure what the fire polishing looks like, or how far it extends? I googled and found this:
Fire polishing the ends of glass tubing and rod will seal small cracks in the end wall, reducing the chance of fractures originating from this source. Fire polishing ends will also reduce cuts and abrasions to you or anything (corks, latex tubing, etc.) coming in contact with the glass end.

which was interesting, but I'm not sure how to tell.

If you look carefully you'll see the end has been heated enough to flow (but not enough to lose shape). Glass is fully stuff, it's technically liquid at room temperatures......just very thick.

Properly heating it causes the surface to melt then solidify again without stresses leaving a smooth surface. It's not polished in the normal way. Before the fire, the end of the tube was sharp enough to cut your fingers.

If the crack does not extend through the surface it likely won't be able to 'break through'.

Surgery (battery transplant) complete, without a hitch. Patient is now resting comfortably on extended charge numero uno. Old cell put in long term storage. Will keep you all updated on condition.

I understand that the medical community has issued new guidelines that state the old Mouth to Solo Stem resuscitation is no longer preferred when compared to simple compression to the tune/cadence of 'staying alive'. If for some reason your patient needs resuscitation..... I'm volunteering to use the old method.

The FDNY now is random testing. If you're on the job and get caught with ANY amount in your system, you're fired - period. The drug of choice for most firemen is alcohol, you know, firemen and beer. It's actually really true. I think cannabis should be part of the job stress management programs. And separate smoking on the job, and smoking in off hours, as is done with alcohol. But, that's not happening soon here.

Changed the battery in my solo as it was not lasting much more than an Air (it was probably fine, but my OCD-ness always wants the best). But I see myself using it in bed with bent stem for hours now. I got this oddball bent stem that's snug in the solo with no o ring, and I'm digging it. Even though I love my Air and Nano, after having this bad boy apart yesterday, I'm loving it more and more. I just did two ten minute sessions on the new battery, and it still is reading 6. I'm gonna dig this. And with dryer herb, 4 is where it's at.

This little guy is tough, as is it's little brother. I love that as well. I can drop it on a carpeted floor and not even flinch.

So somebody posted a new bent stem in the Air thread! Carbed hole on the bend and what looks like smaller notches on the rim of the stem, similar to the PHVES but without the long channels. I'm waiting to see where they ordered it from. See here:

Hey guys,

ordered a bent solo stem a while back but it was broken on arrival. Got a new one now - quite a different model. Haven't seen one of these yet. It has a slighty different curve, an extra hole in the upper part and those carves we know from several PVHES' or GonGs. We will see if it adds too much air... draw restriction is definitely not an issue with this one (I find the stock stems the best and don't need less restr.). Don't chase clouds either, but I guess the taste will be thinner. Hope one good side effect will be less irritation to my throat/larynx/mucous membrane... they suck pretty much when using the air (even on low temps) lately... Micro Bubbler didnt help :(
Keep you guys posted! Have a good one :)

Cannabis is like herbal tea compared to coffee!

Bars are legal?
Cannabis is a schedule one drug?

The spa's in early Athens would put large colas of cannabis on hot coals to fill the room with vapor!

Cannabis has been wrongly demonized!

FIREMEN would be safer vaporizing cannabis rather than drinking alcohol?

The SOLO should be a standard issue!

Does anyone here have the upgraded battery from VapePower? There was a power outage earlier at my house, and the solo proved to be capable even though the battery was running low. The taste is fantastic, and honestly slightly better than the DBV (which I have, although it became useless during the outage). The direct glass straw makes vapor clouds taste slightly more pure due to less travel distance from conduction to intake, compared to using a DBV wand and tubing.

EDIT: The Solo is also much, much better at conserving green as well. The bowl is tiny compared to the DBV and it stays in place when you flip it upside down so the heating surface can evenly cook your herbs. With the DBV I find that green often dips into the heating element if you accidentally exhale through the hose, burning up the bowl and stinking the next hoots until the element is cleaned from burnt material.

@Detonator it looks like the Solo feels right at home in there. Here is another suggestion. This I took last summer and have posted it before. Where's the Solo?

I'm always in Starbucks, and always have an old cup in the car. I've done this trick with my Solo and Air. The actually sell plastic cups that look exactly like the paper ones, might have to make the hole a hair bigger, but same concept. So great for out and about.

Is that steam coming from you coffee?

Broke another Arizer Air stem >:[

I guess i'll buy no more and just buy a stock straight stem and go to Jack's for a cup of water...
But little will they know, I'll be sitting, steady sipping, n ripping on the Solo

If i cared to buy a smoke buddy, i can't imagine how discreet it would be
Walking down the street, sipping from a cup, no vapor trails. Inconspicuous :haw:
