So if cancer runs rampet in someone's family would that also be a factor?
We grew up with a family where kidney and ovarian cancer is striking their family. Four out of 10 members of their family have died so far - all women. Should the remaining woman in their family pay more insurance than other people?

Should this only be for people that are smoking, abusing alcohol or obese? If a person is known to take hard drugs should they pay more? Maybe folks eventually will have to take a test to see if they are apt to get cancer? I'm not saying this is right or wrong. Just putting it out there. We are going down an unknown path. Not trying to argue, just debate.;)

@grokit i agree drunk drivers should pay more for their insurance. Also teenagers too.

Mods I know we're getting off track - I can't help it:D

Good point, I suppose a line would have to be drawn. I'm okay with penalizing risky behavior, as financial incentives may be the only way to motivate people to change. And if they don't change, they can pay the financial price in advance and not be such a burden to society. Then they will get to pay again, by being sick and probably dying young. But not genetic pre-disposition, that kind of risk should be totally socialized.

Yeah, watch out the insurance police may turn up to see if you had that extra drink! And all these pot smokers, well, they'll have to pay more...

They're already scanning your credit/loyalty card purchases for "unhealthy habits" (so pay cash) :tinfoil:

:freak: What were we talking about again?

August 19, 2015 When the effort to draft Sen. Elizabeth Warren to run for president failed, Sen. Bernie Sanders's campaign incorporated much of the movement into its larger infrastructure. That now appears to be paying off.

In Iowa, Sanders's field director is Blair Lawton, who was field director for Run Warren Run, an effort by Democracy for America and MoveOn.org to encourage the Massachusetts Democrat to campaign for president. Along with Lawton, who joined in June, the Iowa team also includes Susana Cervantes, Beth Farvour, and Margaret Jarosz, who were all also affiliated with Run Warren Run.

How about a Gore/Sanders ticket?

Al Gore: Obama’s Plan for Arctic Drilling Is ‘Insane’

Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore on Thursday criticized President Barack Obama for allowing fossil fuel drilling in the Arctic, calling a recently approved Royal Dutch Shell project “insane” in a video interview with the Guardian.

Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore spoke to the Guardian on Thursday to give his thoughts on the climate movement and the upcoming COP21 talks.

“I think the Deepwater Horizon spill was warning enough,” Gore said of offshore drilling while speaking in Toronto with the Guardian‘s environmental correspondent Suzanne Goldberg. “The conditions are so hostile to human activity [in the Arctic] … I think it’s a mistake to drill for oil in the Arctic. I think that ought to be banned.”

Downward spiral
Chances of Repub winning presidency and cracking down on mmj==80%(imo)

Chances of Dem winning presidency and cracking down on mmj==40%(imo)

Chance of Independent winning the presidency===

Not that I think 2 party is good, personally a 4party system is what makes sense to me. In

Presidential ticket Party Ballot access[82] % of voters seeing name on ballot Vote Percentage
Obama / Biden Democratic 50 + DC 100% 65,915,796 51.19%
Romney / Ryan Republican 50 + DC 100% 60,933,500 47.32% Johnson / Gray Libertarian 48 + DC 95.1% 1,275,951 0.99% Stein / Honkala Green 36 + DC 83.1% 469,628 0.36% Goode / Clymer Constitution 26 49.9% 122,388 0.10%
Anderson / Rodriguez Justice 15 28.1% 43,018 0.03% Lindsay / Osorio 13 28.6% 7,791 0.006%
( Socialism & Liberation candidate)

In 2000, if Gore gets the 4% of the votes from Ralph Nader/Pat Buchanan, New Hampshire voters, we don't go to war...
To be fair, if Bush got the Independent votes from Minnesota, he wins by bigger margin. But my point is all these "other" votes do as it stands, is possibly swing a close dem/repub election. Nobody looks and says "Wow, the Independent voice was really boisterous this year, we better court that 1.48% with everything we have."

I'm well medicated, have a nice night:smug:

It seems like every presidential election always has Florida as the deciding state.
I really think that will be a problem if Jeb or any other nominee from Florida gets the ticket.

Southern states need to make sure they aren't excluding certain minority groups on Election Day. Seeing the lines of people trying to vote with elderly folks standing in line for hours. Something needs to be done about that. Are there certain folks that they don't want to give a chance to vote? I suppose those are disadvantaged areas. It makes me very angry.

We don't have anything like that in Washington state. I'm not sure what's up with that? Not enough polling places? Not enough people employed working at the polling places? If that is the case maybe they need to have absentee ballots like we do here.

Its time for a "real" president. And by real I mean not a rich politician that has no concept of what it is like to be the average American. Hillary, Jeb, Donny..... None of them can relate to what I go through in my daily life.

Bernie seems the closest to that IMO. Do I think he has a chance? No. But if he gets there he has my vote.

It never hurts to have a little hope and optimism.

I've only seen people dressed up like this maybe once or twice in my lifetime. I was a child and it was at a distance, I was in the backseat of my family's Grand Prix. I knew evil when I saw it. I had seen it on T.V and it gave me chills.

It seems like every presidential election always has Florida as the deciding state.

They may make it sound that way in the media on election day but in reality all our votes from Florida weren't even counted until After the president was already sworn in for a new term in the last few National Elections.

... And here in Florida anyone can vote early via Mail-in-Ballot no need to stand in Line at the polling stations unless you feel the need to get one of those little "I Voted" stickers to wear on your chest for a day.

Commentators keep saying what a shame it is that Trump is spoiling things and what a great field of contenders the republicans have this year... What?! They are all stepping all over their dicks trying to get to the right of Trump! Jeb, trying to extricate himself from blowback from his 'anchor baby' comment, claimed he was really talking about asians. Way to go Jeb! Republicans are equal opportunity discriminators. You can't make this up.

Trumps interview today that he had with various reporters reminded me of a SNL skit. Ordering people to sit down and "I didn't call on you". He orders some newsman from a Mexican news group out. Can't wait for SLN to parody Trump, it's not until October.

I took Spanish in high school decades ago, can kind of fake it in Spanish and often watch Univision and Telemundo for the challenge of it. Trump is viewed as a devilish creature there and no doubt by a resounding majority of Hispanics in the US today. I'm telling you people hiss when his picture is shown. The rush of all the other candidates to get to the right of Trump, particularly on immigration, further narrows an already narrow demographic path to a Republican presidency. I think they may well have self-destructed already.

He didn't just order some reporter out. He told the biggest anchor on Spanish language tv to "Go back to Univision!" It has nasty, unwelcoming echoes to it; there is an implication that by Univision he means Mexico.

Well that swings my vote. Add Charlie to the ticket! Trump / Sheen would surely win. Why not give Kim and Kanye a position that requires no talent. Then all the teens would vote.

What ever happened to Woody Harrelson. Years back the talk was of Trump / Harrelson. I like his view on drugs.
