In Terminator, why not go back and kill Adam and Eve?

These Skynet robots are doing it all wrong. Forget about Sarah Connors you can't kill that lady. Why not just go right to the source and send Terminators to wipe out the humans right at the source? I mean, maybe Adam and Eve is a bit rediculous but even off one Sarah Connors relatives from way back. One shot, done.

Going after one of Sara Connor's distant relatives seems like a good idea to me, unless there are unforeseen shenanigans that screw up the space time continuum and get things all paradox'ed up, which always seems to happen (not to me) in the movies anyways,

IMO, It would seem to be in Skynet"s best interest to wipe us out after Skynet was online or Skynet would not have been created.

Skynet just wants to be Skynet

Skynet. :whoa:
Dammit Joel, you beat me to it.

Yeah, sky net was made by humans, so it needs humans to be around to make it...

However:
Skynet and the terminators are at least partially based on their own recovered designs from their earlier attempts to terminate Sarah and John.

So, why couldn't skynet send back a terminator to kill all humans, and then create skynet?

(Fun fact - the first thing I ever do when I jailbreak my phone is change the carrier to "skynet" :D)

Well, that is kind of the direction I was going but did not express it properly. Without getting into the events of the new film, why not off all the humans to begin with? If the terminator goes back in time it can essentially "create" skynet on its own. Sure, it may take a while but does any of this shit make any sense anyways?

It's a causality loop. No matter what the humans or skynet does, they are condemned to live the same battle out over and over. It's like the universe is re-balancing itself. Plus in Terminator 5 they've opened up multiple simultaneous timelines, and had 3 different Arnolds all in the same film. Because both sides have time travel, it's just an inter dimensional game of leapfrog at this point.

I just wish they would stick with one actor for John Connor. Eddie Furlong, Nick Stahl, The Dark Knight, plus whoever the dude in the last one who was "Zombie Robot John Connor".

Edit:

The ideal plan was already given to Skynet:
they sent you back to kill a child, and he's defeating you still
they should have made a time-traveling morning after pill
