@Vicki My lady, no time, how have you been my love? I hope well and am glad to see you stop by and thank you for spreading the word for me! I really did dig making you all those pieces and still remember those pieces, you have been a great supporter of my work and I thank you for all you do! Yeah I gotta admit I havent combusted in quite some time, but there's something that can be said about about a long pull off a hog leg that reaches deep into the lungs and creeps up on ya when you least expect it! You know thats something I havent done in a while either, some creeper, that was always cool, do they even still have that out there?

@Ed's TnT I've seen better days, but I'm pluggin along. :) I hope you and the family are ok!

Mmmm, creeper....:smug: I have had some creepy types, but nothing full on in quite some time.

Well sir now that you mention it, I suppose it does sound a little dirty, not my intention though. You know I want to tell you something, last week I had two different guys tell me my work should be in a museum, I was of course like no no, got to thinking of you, you should build a museum and start charging admission to see all the wonders you have acquired, I cant imagine anyone else out there with as large a collection of logs and wooden accessories, you would need to hire armed guards for round the clock security of course! Like my guy told me, if you build it they will come! And to the new tool, they will fit inside a solo bushing, not a Nano, I didnt want them to be much smaller OD and be hard to hold and utilize it if that makes sense, they would have to be really small OD to fit within a Nano bushing.

I know you didn't mean it but I couldn't resist the temptation lol.

As for the tool, I'm not talking about the whole handle. On my redwood tool, just the last inch or so is small enough to fit inside and tamp.

Heres a pic I have on hand.

Does that help?

Wow, what a past few days yall, the first 2 nights of gator hunting was a bust! Way too many boaters on the river and the gator were spooky, was 50 boats there Friday night, one guy had a mud motor that sounded like a freaking harley tearing down the river, another guy had 8 halogens down each side of the boat and a big led bar across the front, looked like daylight coming around the bends in the river, gees WTF!!! Not a single shot was fired that night! Saturday was better somewhat, only about 10 boats, had action right off the bat, gators were out for about an hour and half, couldnt really get on them but we figured if they are out this early then we need to head up river to the good spots so we did. Got up river and action just dropped off. Went flat, spent the rest of the night slowly trolling and hoping it would pan out but didnt. I was so beat Sunday night I had to pass, wouldnt you know it they went back and it was them and one other boater and they got a 9' female, they said she fought like hell for a solid hour, they had two hooks and rods in her, she fought and fought, they got her to the boat, my friend has a fiberglass boat which the gator latched onto and tore a chunk out of, my boss almost lost a couple toes had they just been a inch closer!

I have just finally gotten back to feeling like myself, was driving home and damn near drove over my mailbox so tired, crashed out before dark last night and slept like a rock. Think we are going back tonight so hoping we get one tonight! Will let yall know how I do!

@SSVUN~YAH My man, that is an awesome assortment you have there bro, each of those pieces are fine fine, all a pleasure to do and thanks so much for all the work! Your kind words are much felt and I appreciate you so much brother! Anytime I can do anything else for pls let me know!

@slatihe Wow thats a nice rig and that stem pops!!! I had never down one in that species and it really turned out well! That stem actually came from a dugout blank I had, I saw those knots and was like thats his piece!

@Quetzalcoatl Hello, hope all is well for you chief! Glad you like that piece also, like I said those are the knots that are ever present in Eastern Red Cedar, makes a beautiful stem. I should make more in that species I suppose, could really make some outstanding pieces! I thank you for stopping by as I do everyone else!

Like I said hope gator hunting goes better tonight and if so maybe I wont be so beat and can post up sooner, forgive me yall, am only 39 but two straight days with very very little sleep 100% sober is a tough row to hoe!

Wooohooo, feeling good about tonight yall, bout to head out and start the hunt! Hoping tonight pays off big time, they set two new records one for the largest in the state 13' 3 1/4" and female that beat the national record by 5" or so I wanna say, the females never reach the size of a male. Got my fingers crossed my son snags and lands one no matter what the size, sure would be nice to post up tomorrow with success!

Wowweeee yall, so sorry for the long long delay, its been so much fun the past couple weeks but took a physical whooping in the process, most nights we would launch the boat at around 9pm, work the river up and down, up and down, and back again. Alot of the hunt was spent slowly trolling and stalking, its alot more hunting than action for sure. Not at all what I thought it would be nor as tough as I had thought either. Long long nights and trying to fit in some sleep between wood work, time with the boys and a blossoming new relationship as well is tough to juggle. Thank God gator season is over!!! So heres how it went down for the highlights, as I said above there was alot of non action but when it was on, it was on! Friday night we were in a big bend of the river, wide open water, there were some jugs floating down, not sure if many of you are familiar with jug fishing or not, you can get a 2 liter coke bottle, empty it, leave the cap on, tie a short maybe 2-3' line on it with a hook and weight, put your bait on and then go up river a ways, drop the jugs out in the river and let them float down, by the time the get to you, maybe you are lucky and will have a fish on. We see these 3 jugs coming down river and hmm there seems to be a set of eyes attached to one of the jugs, we hit it with the light and watch it go down, a couple minutes later it pops back up with the eyes shining and jug attached over in a different spot, so we start casting out to it and after a few attempts we hook up! We have one hook in it and are trying to get another in it, ohhh we know this one is a big one, gotta have another hook in the big ones in case they shake one of the hooks, so we are hooked up, both rods are big big heavy action and are bent to the brink, ohhh so close to breaking, the gator goes straight to the bottom and seems to just stay there, we are holding on for a couple minutes the line goes slack, up floats the jug with about a 3lb catfish on the hook, the gator had the fish in its mouth or belly and spit it out to get away from us, so we were hooked up to the line on the jug, ohh it sucked! Ahh but then it popped up a short distance away eyes shining at us, so the hunt was back on, we cast several more times until we sure enough hooked into it, got the second line attached and was back on yet again. My oldest son was holding the light on it while two of us had a rod in our hands and the other the noose, that beast came up to the water, we had it hooked in front of the back left leg so the head was still down but the tail was thrashing, finally wore it out and got the head to surface so we could get the beast restrained, thats when the fight really got on, we knew we had a good one, wasnt a great big big one but still a nice one never the less! That thing started throwing its head from side to side slamming into the boat, we are in my friends fiberglass boat that has a strip of molding around the outside, she grabbed hold of it pulling it loose from the side of the boat, latched into it with its jaws ripping and yanking, it was splashing water all over the place, it was in charge and we just hanging on, we loaded a round in the shotgun and one clean shot to the back of the skull and it was over in less than a second. Wooohhhh time to calm down and relax, we were all 4 pumped and excited having landed it, we brought it to the side of the boat, taped its mouth shut and yanked it up on the deck, got a good look at her after we hog tied its legs on its back and wow what a nice gator, turned out to be 8' 2" with a belly girth of 32" with a tail girth of 24", that was it for he night and by that time it was 4am, my other friends had to be at work at 10 am and we still had to clean it, that took 3 hours itself, got about 60lbs of meat as well and the scoots for a horn back mount and the underbelly for a complete tanned mount, and are going to do a traditional skull mount for the head. My son told me later, he said dad, " I knew it was big when its tail came up, my legs started shaking and I was really scared!" he did really well and we had a blast!

Here she is on a 5' table

This is a small 3'er we hooked up on within the first 10 minutes after we launched sunday night! My boy fought it all the way to the boat and was a little leery about holding it, but he nutted up and did so, wish yall could have seen all the smiles this boy wore these nights and days!

Connor%203%20footer_zpsqmb89wgv.jpg

We let this one go, it had some growing to do and he had never caught anything like it before, a 2-3 lb bass just doesnt have to fight these do!

This is one I landed earlier in the week, caught it right from the start, was a little over 4', could have kept it but was early and was hoping to have a better night, ahh but is hunting, that night wasnt much of a success.

Had 2 tags and didnt fill one, season closed Monday at noon so thats it for the year and gosh am glad its over yall! I am not that old but sure as heck felt like an old timer and took a while to get over those long days and even longer nights, red bulls just werent cutting it. I am finally starting to get back to a 100% but what a great time we had, I cant wait for next year to come around! Yeah and my cuz was like before season starts, WTH are you going to do with a gator, I told him what ever the heck I want, foremost am going to have fried gator tail nuggets! I was explaining to him how its the thrill and sportsmanship of it all and that we had been to a class for safety. I explained to him it was no different than him going 30 miles off shore in the gulf to catch big snapper or king mackerel, he was telling me to be safe and watch out for my fingers and such then. Well just the other day he sends me a text telling me about this big king he had on and gaffed but them when they got it on the boat it thrashed and the big hook went all the way through his hand, had it not been for his friend just happened to have a bolt cutter in the boat it could have been worse, after 3 attempts they cut the hook in half and pulled it out of his hand, he even attached a video of the whole ordeal to the text. Ha, yeah I was quick to say that I still had all my digits and didnt loose a drop of my blood, none of us did!

Now to you all, thanks for you all stopping by and being patient!

@Quetzalcoatl Wow, that guy has got some talent no doubt, never thought of that but hey I dont think like I would like, talk about getting out of the box, that guys got skillz bro, thanks for the kind words and for posting up! I hope you like reading about our time above!

@FlyingLow How bout it, hope you are back on your feet now after that procedure bro, still gotta get to your piece.

@Melting Pot Wow, no records for us but some were bagged, a guy broke the state record and set it at 14' 3/4", what a freaking beast, massive, the head on the thing had to be huge and wide, could have easily made a quick snack of me and never let up. All I got on the Gopro was my sons small, I thought I had it figured out but didnt get any footage of the 8'er, sucks but so it is what it is. I still have to get the video of the small and work on it, will post it up here when I get a little time to do so. Would have loved to get you out there with us man, you would have enjoyed it for sure, maybe next year!

@Snappo What a lovely portrait and kind words, BTW who singed that ball? Love the log and stem of course! Sorry for missing in action round here, am sure you will know from above and will understand, I am glad you feel like you do when I lay it out there, its so fun to share with you all, as I have said, feel like we are all family here and sharing me and mine with my family here is what its all about! Thanks man!

Now to a little Show & Tell, have brought back a few oldies but goodies and even a little something new to the table. Hope you all like what I have available and what will be available hopefully later today.

Was going to edit this above but damn I did not know I had almost had to much content to post in my last one above, my bad and being in a hurry!

@Aezhenn Forgive me my man, as I said I got in a hurry and had to break away from my post, I passed over you and I am sorry bro! I had not seen that image there, I hope it looks great, not that I have had time to really look around, I am glad you like it! I have only made the 2 main species I am offering to him but also made an Amboyna burl long stem for his VC as well, dont know if he showed it to you all there or not also. Those are fun to make and neat also! Ahh will see whats coming next in the future I am sure, got plenty to do otherwise for now. Pls forgive me again for overlooking your post, that wasnt cool!

Well good afternoon everyone! Hope all is well, am really feeling like my good ole self again and its good to get reacquainted with myself after so much wear and tear and this body of mine. Been back in the shop working up a couple orders going out wholesale, got quite a bit on the bench for new stuff coming soon that a few of you have really stepped up and offered up units for me to work with, fun fun to be had soon enough. Took friday night to try my hand at my first attempt at preparing and cooking the gator meat. SO for a little spin on Show & Tell, this is going to be Cook & Tell, so I took 2 sacks, cut the strips cross grain at 1/4" thick, soaked one sack in Dale's which is never a bad idea for all your meat marinate needs, let it soak on the counter at room temp for 45 minutes, found out that gator being so absorbent really only needs about 20 minutes so next sack will be the one! The other sack I cut up as I said, took a couple sticks of butter, thin sliced an onion and garlic, sauteed all that for several minutes, filled the pan with water, let boil, took off the heat and dropped the meat in for a bout 5 minutes, took it out, dipped in egg and then battered, wowwwww, off the hook!

Now always the best IMO and my boys, its just so hard to beat Dale's, there just isnt about any other way to do wild game

Gator%20Dales_zpsnoiqno5y.jpg

Not a piece of meat was left, only pissed off kids asking when are we going to cook some more! LOL, was a great night and good time with my boys!

Now to a rush job for my man at Haze, you all may have seen the piece I did for the Haze over there at that thread, after talking to my guy he wanted to do a universal wong 14mm to work with the old and the new so this is what I came up with, so now to the good stuff the wood Show & Tell!

Eds%20Haze%20V3%20Universal%2014mm%20Wong%20and%20Adapter_zpskppkr4zx.jpg

The bottom piece is an adapter that will allow users to take their older version pieces and work with the newer smaller ID of the V3, I have some concerns about this piece but wanna have my man give me his thoughts before we decide whether its a go or not. Just wanted to share with you all a little of whats happening round my neck of the woods! There is quiet a bit more going on round this way just not ready to let the cat out of the bag just yet, am really really happy, life is turning a new corner in a direction that has blown wind into my sails that has given me a breathe of life I have needed for a long time!

@Snappo Watch out, game ball bro, well done!

@Aezhenn My man, I will be more than happy to snap some pics of future VC woodies if that comes about, no rush, it will be what its supposed to be when its time to be!

@lookhigh Hmmmm, well the difference between the two is about .013", you wouldnt want to take off much, take a little here and measure, take a little more and measure till you get there, Airs are at .625", am thinking you could wrap the wood in a clothe put it in a vise, you could take a fine cut file and slowly take off a little here and there til you get it where you want or you could even get a fine sand paper and sand it by hand til you get there. A .001" is only a hair so you are only taking off 13 hairs or so. I would be afraid that a belt sander may take off a little more than you would like at a time if it got away from you and that may not be a great idea. I would definitely do it by hand before I took a machine to it but thats just me bro and my advise. What ever you decide pls let me know how it comes out and I wish you luck bro!
