Wow, what an old thread lol

Back about 10 years ago in college, I rented a house with a bunch of cool dudes (I was always the outcast because I was the responsible guy working 9-5 and going to school after work, and I never worked weekends). Anyway at one point they had an EZ Vape knockoff on the table, I had no clue wtf it was at the time. Later they explained what it was, but weren't using it so I never got a chance to use it with them.

Fast forward about 3 years, I was out on my own, bought a house and decided to splurge on a "vaporizer" to see what all the hype was about (this is around 2008). So I spent $100 on a knockoff EZ Vape with a digital readout from my LHS. I certainly over paid for it, and it was a chinese knockoff, but whatever, it had a cool blue light on the heat port and had a digital temp dial, what could be better!

Yeah, that was complete shit. I had no clue what I was doing with it, barely got any vapor (I got a little bit of taste, but nothing fantastic). The nasty whips also didn't help with the taste. So that vape went into the closet for the rest of it's life.

Fast forward again about 5 more years and I'm out to lunch with an old friend, and he pulls out the Pax! :o
Yeah that blew my mind. Unfortunately it was mostly done by the time he let me try it after lunch, and I didn't taste much.

But that Pax grabbed my attention - portable fucking herb vapes? Get the fuck out of here. So off began my quest for my own portable vaporizer. Ultimately my first real vaporizer was the Davinci Ascent. I was pretty much smitten with vaporizing from that first puff at 350F with the Ascent.

Didn't even try combusting again for two weeks after the Ascent arrived, at which point it was too late, my body had already detoxed from combustion!

In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king
I was a combustable dude for about 40 years and used daily. Toward the end.... for the most part I was doing one-hits on a small bong. My wife was also combustable but her use dropped to a few times per year due to random drug testing at work at a job she held for 10 years. I could make an ounce last a good 3 months or more back then.

Then the wife retired ..... and she immediately picked up the speed of our MJ use to the level of a Porsche 918. Man, did she ever make up for lost time. Can't say she didn't warn me. While she held that job she must have mentioned at least once a week she'd be setting out to make up for lost time someday. So... I set out to solve a few new problems ... decrease the MJ budget, get stealthier and healthier (I was out of the MJ closet but the wife wasn't). After much research I selected the MFLB as our first vape and the three of us went everywhere together. Low and behold...our MJ use went back down to what it was when it was just me and the one-hitter but we were getting our buzz on more than before since we could take a magic flight just about anywhere......and we did book that flight outside the house way more than before

A few months after the MFLB we got the Solo and a few attachments.

I have a rarer form of Epilepsy and was randomly diagnosed at 17. After a few years of attempting different anti-convulsants that never worked and dealing with their terrible, mood altering side effects (Keppra, Tegretol, Lamictal, Zonisamide to name a few), my parents and friends kept pushing for me to try cannabis..

I finally gave in and got a Pax, and began using MJ daily. I haven't had a single seizure since my first vape hit and haven't looked back.

Was already into the idea of vaping, had been on fc. Used a mate whisper he hated it, I borrowed it for a couple weeks. It was pretty shit really but I got the basic concept of what it was trying to do and it seemed appealing. The first couple times I was smoking anyways and it was just a bit of a play, wasn't till I got my hands on it by my self for a bit that I tried it on it's own.

Back in the 80's my buddy had this old school vaporizer that was a big skull with a warming tray and a glass dome and some hookah hoses on it. Do they still even make those. Head shops always had them near the bongs. Don't remember it working very good. Pretty crusty tech.

My friend called me twice saying ay I have something new man I want you to try it. Shot him down with the im busy speech. Third call you cant shoot a friend down so I told him to come down let me check it out. I took three hits off his pen and got a vile from him. Its been over a year and I have only combusted twice and both times felt dirty. I am all Vape. Well occasionally I will hit some flower.

It all started when I started making 4-6 Star Bubble (Full Melt Ice Water Extract)

I had always dabbed it, and would occasionally Smoke it using a "green screen" and covering the hash with more herb.

I found that I was getting significantly higher by using the "Hash Parfait " method...
At this point, I realized what was going on...

The hot Cherried herb, was actually Vaporizing the Hash below.

Then I did the ole Google Search..

"What is the best way to consume Bubble Hash?"

90+% of my searches resulted in...
Vaporizer
In My Vape
Out my Vape. Etc ...

It started with a Quartz Glow wand, great flavor, better high, but I was essentially still combusting ...
Then, I grabbed a 30$ Soldering Iron w/ Ceramic heating element... At first I would use it just like a Butane-Free lighter, applying directly to the herb...

I then started hovering the element above the bowl, without making any direct contact with the material...

Wowzers!!!! The Big Bang .....
Immediately, I started putting a few bucks aside to obtain a real Vaporizer.

Picked up my DBV from an Authorized 7th Floor Vendor at a LHS right around the corner from my house.

It was literally love at my first draw.

Used to go through a 1/4 - 1/2 oz of herb, and 2 grams of Bubble a week .

Now, I'm using about a gram of herb, and 0.25 grams of Bubble every week.

My one and only regret regarding Vaporization.....

I should have been Vaping years ago.

My first real experience with vaping was on a vacation with a friend to San Fran. Well, more of a weed filled adventure really.

We had both just graduated high school, recently turned 18, and had medical recommendations for the first time in our lives. It was definitely surreal. We probably dropped a couple hundred dollars on weed from various SF dispensaries out of pure excitement.
We went to this one on Haight and Ashbury, I think it was called the Vapor Room or something. It's closed down since then I believe, this was around 2009. When we got there it was beyond anything we could've imagined. It was probably the closest thing to Amsterdam that we could get at the time. It was the rustic looking interior with people just blazing everywhere. Joints, bongs, vapes. All of which were provided to the patients by the dispensary.
It wasn't a party vibe though, it was a relaxing coffee shop feel.

A bunch of big groups were hogging the Volcano vapes, so my friend and I sat next to two locals around our age and asked if they wanted to match on bong hits. We ended up smoking a good amount and talking about how it is growing up in the city, since we were from the suburbs. After a while the two locals had to jet, and the crowds kept coming so we set in search of another dispensary that had a vape.

We eventually stumbled upon one in a suburb part of SF. We went in and it was nothing like the other. Just your average setup with only one dude chilling at the vape table. We bought some weed and sat down at the table to load up the Volcano, but had no idea what we were doing. The older guy at the other table could tell and he offered some help. We ended up vaping with him for a good half hour while he told us stories about growing up in SF/Berkeley during the 70s. Apparently he saw some form of nostalgia in us, as he seemed to lit up with excitement as he spoke.
Afterwards, my friend and I headed out, and as we were walking down the street we did say anything. After a couple blocks, we both just suddenly stop and turn to each other with the same look. My friend said what we were both thinking, "DUDE! I can't believe how high I am right now!" I laughed and shook my head in agreement, as I said "Well i'm getting a vape when we get back home."

I ended up getting some shitty Chinese knock off which totally sucked. But hey, I was young and hadn't discovered FC yet.

I lost my virginity to a 'cano as many ppl here have

It was lying around in my old Cannabis Social Club, a donation from a member. One of the guys dispensing asked me one day if I had tried it, when I said 'no' they looked at each other with a funny look and made me a huge bag :science: I had had a few joints already, and was quite high, but vaping gave me a boost. It literally took the combustion high to a higher level!!!
After extensive research got a Solo & so forth...

I remember back in the 90s, wishing for a way to administrate with the same principles as vaping; clean, no tobacco, no...

Gotta be careful 'bout that wishing thing they said! All too true :p

First the flavor, then the buZzz settles in....
My first introduction to vaping was me getting a vaporbrother brothers box with whip. The reason I took this alternative route is that smoking cannabis in the house because smoking it in the street was really risky, was stinking up the house and left a lingering smell for hours.

I never had an issue with the smell, but other people in the house did, since they did not consume cannabis. I did some research on line and looked for an alternative method to consume cannabis and the vaporbros box came up with alot of good reviews. Now, the first few times I was using the unit, I didnt really get high, but then after the learning curb, I was hitting it like a champ and quite impressed.

In the beginning, I was vaporizing and combusting on and off, I didnt have a preference because I was getting quality weed, though through the course of time I started vaping more than combusting due to there it being hardly any smell and I wouldnt offend anyone in the household.

I fully converted to vaping when I started getting mediocre weed and I hated how the taste was when combusting and the high sucked. So I started vaping that same weed and it tasted alot better and the high was alot better through vaping.

I did have a semi bad experience with whip style vapes. It seemed as if at a point I was forcing my lungs too much because since I was fairly new, I did not notice much. I would get high, but I would also see stars and at point I thought to myself that vaping might not be doing me good and that I possibly had to give up vaping all together. After vaping I felt as if I was going to pass out.

I gave it up for some months, then through research I came across vapor Production and efficiency and it talked about clogged screens. I then checked the screen on the whip and it was indeed clogged. I was overworking my lungs due to this clogged screen, I was new and failed to realize this.

To make the long story short, I outgrew my vaporbrothers box and realized I disliked the whips, So I got me an Arizer xtreme q for the bags, since initially I wanted a volcano but the price was over my budget. I quickly found out I hated the q, but realized that bag vaping got me wrecked, though I still could not get the volcano and through my online search for a new vape discovered this forum and the e nano. I was really impressed by this little guy. Recently, I saw the volcano on massdrop for less than the retail price and I jumped on the deal, now I am waiting for my new toy.

Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
I gave up weed for more than 20 years. I had no intention of going back to it because of my fear of the effects of smoking. About 2 years ago I first learned that you could vape it. I was like, hell yeah, I'm back baby!

Then I found this site. First vape was my VB desktop which I still own and use. It has to be a special occasion to "whip" it out though.

I tried combusting out of a grav labs bubbler a few weeks ago. I can't see how I enjoyed the taste of smoking years ago. I can't see how people can talk about different flavors when you combust. All I tasted was burnt crap.

2001ish B.C. bud vaporizer. my friends were buying everything and anything at the time out of High Times magazine.

Can't remember exactly the first time using it exactly as those were some super stoney times. Anyways he let me borrow it for a few months, but the thing just did not perform well.

I had never vaped until a little over a year ago, but had been curious. I didn't know anybody with a vaporizer, so that hindered things. When my aunt (RIP) was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, I responded by researching and buying a vape.

I haven't looked back since.

My first vape was a volcano(friends dad). Hit it through the baggy it was definitely the best vape I've tried. I Was like 15 or so almost ten years later (still high off that party bag!) I own a dbv.

Vapir No 1.
A friend, my black market (dealer) cannabis friend had one and we tried it out together. It looks like a blow dryer doesn't it? I then bought one and decided the oven was too big and the motor that blows bags, too loud. I gave it to a friend. Briefly went back to combusting then found the Vapir No 2. Dec. 2012. Thanks to @Vitolo he had made a video. That led me to FC and to 11+ other vaporizers a few years later.

Jan. 2013 completely stopped combusting. Had to completely stop the fire in order to feel the vaporizing clean medicated high.

Edit
The first time I vaporized I don't know if I was that impressed but I wanted to use cannabis a healthier way. It's hard to feel a good medicated state until you get through a couple of weeks combustion free. That's why it's so hard to convince people to switch. They don't wait out the 2 weeks.:sherlock:

My first vape was the 'hotplate & light globe' type. All the other vapes were way too expensive for something i wanted to try as a novelty. It was not a great vape, lol. However, it was enough to pique my interest and invest in more vapes.

Like @CarolKing i wanted to continue to use mj but i also wanted to be healthy and stop using tobacco (smoked mj mixed with tobacco). It was pure chance that brought me to the fc community and it truly has been life changing for me.

That little crappy vape gave me hint of what was possible. It may have taken six years to swap to only vaping, but i got there in the end...thanks to the fc community

@gaseous_clay i needed a two week t-break before i could vape successfully. My tolerance was really high and i struggled to stop combusting. It was that two week break that made all the difference for me. I tried vaping for about 5 or 6 years before i was able to make the transition to vaping-only.

My biggest problem now is making sure that my mouthpiece goes in my mouth and my wand goes in the heater cover of my dbv...i seem to get this muddled up regularly when i am vaped, lol

A bc back in 2001. The weed got more wasted than I did. Gave up totally on vaping until ecigs prompted me to see what stoners are using these days. While waiting for a battery powered one to get fixed, I have learned to use a glass straw and candle.

My first vape was an MFLB that I purchased in March 2011. I remember it worked alright, and I had my first taste of pure vapour. I can't take combustion any more, not even a whiff !
