So I've been realizing as the herb is heated and breaks down into even smaller pieces, they start to slip through the back of my mflb and some falls out when I shake it. It even falls through the slit and down into the battery hole. It's not much...but it's enough that I have been noticing.

The top of the wood in the back, as you can see isn't quite flush with the cover and this is where most of it comes out through I think.

I'm just wondering if this is normal or if that wood is suppose to be flush??

There's a little trough or notch there on the top of the box for airflow, some people block it near the trench with tape and such to stop the tiny bits of bud from falling through.

EDIT; I believe @OF has pictures somewhere in this thread but I couldn't find 'em this morning in the 1022 page's that are here now.

EDIT EDIT: hard to believe that when I first started lurking around FC this thread was on page 70... :whoa: the growth here kinda blows ones mind at times.

As for material getting into the air channel, yeah that's due to the recessed form of the air channel. I think it was OF that told me that you can place a small strip of electrical tape at the end of it closest to the trench and it will prevent about 95% of the material from getting through there, but it doesn't seem to restrict the air flow when I draw. This is how mine was configured.

i must have confused the sizes somehow. you can't fit the magic flight abv container in the 0.29l container. the handle of the brush is also a little too long. but the 0.29l container still holds the box itself, 4 batteries, your mouthpieces and your green suplies. my previous test was probably done with a slightly bigger size.

if you don't care for a rectangular shape, i accidendtally found out, that those tightvac containers could be practical. i only have the 0.29l container and it easily fits the box, batteries mouthpiece, brush a baggy with herbs, the standard issue abv container and there is still some room left. you might even try the smaller sizes they offer. they claim to be air tight, smell proof and water resistant. i didn't test the water bit yet, though. it will not fit flat in the back pocket of your jeans, but neither does the vapman egg. :)

Hi FC, this is my first post. Great to be here.

I broke my mouthpiece two days ago, forgot to remove it before giving the box a good shake and it flew off onto the hard floor. I had a spare tube that I got from a lab supplier, and it was the same OD as the original mouthpiece. It measures 7" long and is slightly thicker (smaller ID). The result is I get much longer draws and I no longer sip when I'm drawing, instead I take long unrestrained pulls. The length and thickness of the tubing also delivers cooler vapour. I grind my herb to the finest grain possible for an even vape with no combustion.

mflb.jpg

Downside to a longer tube is the obvious size difference, and the higher chance that it could be knocked off and break, plus its much less discreet. I am not sure the hole on the mflb was meant to take a tube that length and weight so I wouldn't leave it in for long periods.

Just thought I'd share my find with mflb users. Peace :leaf:

You could always shorten it.

thanks, I have a replacement shorter version already ( among my scraps from the lab supplier ) but it doesn't pull as long and hard as the long version. If I were to shorten it though, I'd probably take off an inch or so for ease of packing ( I've got a 6.5" long case for my mflb ).

Thanks for the post. A couple of years back I made up a bunch of custom length plastic tubes for Members by way of 4/20 celebration. Most got 2 or 3, IIRC there were about 100 folks that took me up on the offer. Many were about 8 inches long (longest that fit the envelope).

Acrylic tube was the first stem for MFLB, and while many of us prefer 'native' (no stem), many favor plastic over glass......and of course it's not breakable. The size used is 1/4 inch OD (typically 3/16 ID).

Long stems also let you see the vapor coming out, a useful aid for many. The same function can be had with a short whip of a stem made of several pieces of tube connected by small pieces of rubber tube for easy transport/storage.

Anyway, I agree, longer (and shorter) stems are worth investigating.......at least for many owners.

Thanks again, best wishes with your experiments.

Thanks for sharing, OF :) I like the idea of the whip made of several pieces of tube :science: . I agree that acrylic is easier to transport and store, the UFO also uses acrylic for stems ( I imagine for that very same reason; portability ). It'd be good to have a few acrylic stems as backup.;)

As far as taste and efficiency goes, which do you prefer, acrylic or glass ?

I'm a native kinda guy, usually. I like the glass ones, but they make me nervous. After a couple of hits I don't think I can tell the difference by taste between glass and Acrylic (if I ever could have reliably).

No less a sage than our own Vitolo (Sage of the High Desert) is on record as preferring Acrylic, and I'm sure in no position to argue with him........

FWIW, somewhere I've got a 9 inch or so stem in 3 segments (short rubber tube between) which disassembles and fits in a camera case with the box......lots of fun there.

Personally I find the taste of vapour the same through glass and acrylic, I couldn't taste a difference at all.

I'm sure the pros and cons of acrylic and glass have been discussed previously, I haven't scrolled through the entire 1022 replies in this thread yet.

Between the two, I think I'd stick with borosilicate as I like the feel of glass more than acrylic, and glass handles higher temperatures well. I also find that I can clean glass repeatedly with rubbing alcohol, my first acrylic stem cracked after repeated cleaning. But I just have to drop glass once and I'm back to native if I don't have any spare tubes. End of the day, I'm gonna need spares for both acrylic and glass if I carry them around, I've got butterfingers  . I'm so glad the acrylic supplier is just down the road from the lab supplies where I am .

Thanks for sharing, OF ! :leaf:

I stick to the wooden stems these days (both Straight and Dart), only clean 'em when they start dripping honey, haven't lost one yet and they never break. Love me some wood.

:mflb: ... :smug:
I love my dart stem! Although I have a shorty walnut stem that i as just as nice!

I honestly don't think I'll ever stop using my Launch Box.

Hey guys. Looking into getting an MFLB.

I've seen the price everywhere as $119. I actually thought you could pick one up for $79. Has the price increased recently?

That's always been the MSRP. I'm mobile and about to drive, check some of the retailers in their subforum on the front page, see what randy has on puffitup. You can definitely get it at a lower price or as a combo kit.

I would love to try wooden stems and darts  ! A couple for the wishlist... :leaf:

Hi everyone long time lurker. I have owned many vapes that I purchased because of these forums. I always come back to my Mahic Flight though.
I have a bottle rocket on the way now. Very excited. I recently emailed Magic Flight and asked if they would make a glass stem set for the bottle rocket. This would make this device 10 times better to me. They said they would if the demand was there. So if anyone else is interested in an option for a glass stem set then post your opinion here.
