Is the vapman station off the table or is there a new one being designed? Or did the isolated melting station stop the whole development?
René (@vapman) told me last week, that he is still waiting for the electronics engineers assessment.
For the moment, they are still searching, where exactly and why the error occured, and why only on one station.
René will not give the stations out of the atelier, before he doesn't knows exactly, what happend to the one station.

We need to be patient. It would be such a shame to deliver the station once again and then, let's say after 200 stations the same error happen again. That would be much harder to explain to the customer.... and much more expensiv too.

And everybody, who knows René a little bit, knows also, that he will always and only give the best for his customer.

But I'm shure, he will bring back the station to the market, as soon as the error has been identified and remedied.

With my last specs of herb in my little stash case today I had to come out with a way to conserve as much as possible to last till night and remembered that I had the concentrate screens handy. I was able to use less than 0.05 I think for a few loads. The taste was superior to using it without a screen. It needed a few secs more of heating though for each draw. The extraction was more complete but with spots. Then I remembered that my screens got gunked up while using hash for more than a month and there ware only a few clean spots that air could pass through! And then I remembered that @u bwade wunner and @M0J0 made their own screens almost a year ago,

so I went ahead and made one and let me tell you it was a revelation! Best taste ever from my vapman and most uniform extraction as well! I really think using it this way minimizes conduction and maximizes radiation and convection! More radiation than convection of course... It could be the most radiant vaporizer out there with this mod… :brow: :p :D Super efficient! Can't wait for more herbs to test it out thoroughly as I only did 3 bowls with the DIY screen! I think vapman's concentrate screens cause more conduction as they are ultra-fine but ultra-thick as well. Almost solid. In contrast regular screens have less surface and can't conduct so much heat...

I hope more people test this and report back. :D

Wow, I remember this now. I couldn't wait for the official screens so I McGivered that screenscreen.

It worke well, had to heat a bit longer, as you said, but I believe you're right in that it Gabe better taste.

It also kept the bowl completely clean.

It's really cheap and simple to do. I used a toothpick to make the center hole and scissors to cut it to the right size.

Keep an eye on stray pieces of wire when you cut the other edge. You don't want to such those into your mouth or lungs...

I wonder what other would think.

yesterday i had the vapman with me at a nice garden party at the Rhine river. summer heat was in the air, it was an enjoyable evening. one guy recognized the vapman and we started talking and when i mentioned Rene and how he became mr. vapman, there i realized, how great the FC community is. where else can you actually talk with the guys behind their unique products, follow the birth of a new device and a lot more? i just love this place. :)

p.s.: i might have convinced the guy to buy a vapman for himself. :)

Is the vapman station off the table or is there a new one being designed? Or did the isolated melting station stop the whole development?

Thank you for asking, @mixchu69! The station is not off the table and we don`t need to redesign the unit as we are happy the way it works. I thought that we will find out in five minutes what went wrong with the faulty station as soon we will have it here in our hands but I was wrong because the station worked perfectly well and never failed since. I assumed it must be the heating cartridge with the thermocouple playing tricks on us but after doing some research and talking to specialists, I wasn't sure anymore about this and we started looking everywhere else for possible errors. After not finding the least hints of problems in the programming nor the electronics, I went back to square one and put my focus on to the heating cartridge again. The fact, that on some units the blue light appears occasionally and randomly, made me suspicious and I started poking in this direction again. The main problem is, that it is not possible to dismantle the cartridge without destroying the inside and hence the possible answer to our question. After talking to the specialists again, I am now convinced that it must be the thermocouple, there is an explanation that makes perfect sense and to what happened with the faulty station.

To cut a long story short, we are finally on track to solve this problem for now and ever!
I will order custom made cartridges next, this will take about five to six weeks and we will relaunch the station as soon we can!:)

My sincere apologies to all those waiting for such a long time for this answer, I wish I knew then what I know now….don`t we all?;)

Love,

vapman

Finally received the lighter recommended by @OF and many others. Wow, what a difference! For such a cheap lighter it is such a champ, I cannot imagine any other lighter being better at the job. Very precise flame, big tank and not clogging up with my shitty butane - 10/10.

Have had a few really good Vapman sessions lately - it's a real beast for such a tiny thing. Such a contrast to how hugely high it gets me :whoa:.

Vapman 4 life.

Link? If @OF recommended it, it must be the truth!

That is just the cheapest on eBay, you can get them from DHGate and any other chinese websites. I bought three just in case!

Last ones I got came from here:
http://www.tinydeal.com/refillable-jet-1300-butane-lighter-with-tank-p-2570.html

$2.30 ATM (with shipping). I think getting a couple spares at that price to be sound thinking. Over the years I've lost a few, and given more away, but haven't worn one out. Not that I'm not trying, mind.......

Glad you like 'em.

i'd rather consider a torch an essential. :)

I agree, at least until the solar powered version comes to market (and then a big old magnifying glass is necessary gear?). It could be a very simple mod on the pan plating. Rather than a thin layer of Gold, put on a coat of "Black Gold" (not to be confused with crude oil.....). Black Gold is very fine (near atomic) bits of Gold deposited in vacuum, dozens of layers thick. It is used on IR sensors in some applications (low power levels) since the surface reflects the light internally until the photon is stripped of it's energy (stops). It looks like flat black paint, but if you scratch it it comes up Gold. The one I saw was a satellite part.

Vaping after sunset would be out, of course.

Until then I too think a suitable torch is the call......every Vapman owner needs at least one.

Yeah, just the ticket for "Burning Man"! We could build a whole cult out of it. Hold daily "Sunrise Wake and Bake" ceremonies. "High Noon Top Up" parties.........

Maybe we set it up on some mountain top and go for the exotic wedding ceremony market? Or start a post graduation rite of passage......go to the Mountain of Enlightenment, load your VM, get in line..... Hey, easier to pull off than a trip to Mecca.

And there's always the End of civilization as we know it kinda potential. With some seeds, water and sun could it keep you in THC until civilization rebuilt itself.......

In a (hopefully brief) serious moment I'm not so sure this isn't actually practical. IIRC the numbers right you get about a kilowatt per square meter on a good day. We can capture something a bit over 50% of that using standard solar finishes (you get something like 20% with the best solar electric panels). A couple dozen Watts should do us nicely I'd think. Back of the envelope says about 3 square inches to the Watt, we'd need say 75 square inches (25 Watts) at a minimum.....5 inch diameter? Mirror (reflector) is probably a better way to go than a lens, and you sure wouldn't want to look at the light, but maybe a shutter you could open after the VM was loaded?

Much better/fun than a sun dial in the garden if you ask me.........

That's exactly what I think of when choosing vapes! :freak:  Really, it's always at the back of my head, what happens if I get somewhere without electricity or butane… VapCap is a great newcomer which works with most kinds of flame or hot surfaces and I would love my precious vapman to be able to compete with that somehow so there could be plenty of options to keep that THC in vapor form and not burn it! I wouldn't mind carrying an old and trusty magnifying lens, much more reliable than a torch!

@vapman ? Would a solar vapman be possible with the kind of paint @OF described? We had discussed it long time ago at the Lotus thread but there was no follow-up… :(
