@Bravesst, I know once you put your mind to it you'll find the way to get it working for you and soon be a nano master.

I like my portable lots, but use it little because the nano suits my needs better as a quick one hitter. What I lose in the way I use the nano is what I love about my protable - the ability to do low intensity vaping sessions (not just single hits) with the cooler temps. When I use the nano, I take myself one nice sized draw and let it last me for a while before heading back for a second. I've gotten through wonderfully with one hit (the nano hits). But usually get around to a second. And really like it when I can squeeze in a third before calling it a day.

Although yesterday I took a different approach. Set it at 6 (rather than the usual 6.5ish) and loaded a smaller bowl for a lower level effect. I was using a flower I hadn't used for a while and didn't want to over do it. I spread two single hits through the late afternoon/ early evening, then went back for a third after a while. Stirred and added a wee bit of fresh before hit 3. Worked like magic. A great day it was. Looking forward to some repeat action soon.

I've heard others say that they had combusted on the higher temps with various units and the Enano included, I don't know if that's possible the Nano. I've accidently bumped my temp dial and it was at 8 or 9 it charred the cannabis and I knew something was up because if had the burnt taste.

I haven't gotten any combustion whatsoever. Are we mixing getting charred cannabis with combustion? To get combustion it needs to be higher temp wise. Am I wrong? Professional vaporists please we need some opinions here. Common you smart people. You know who you are? @OF doesn't frequent this thread unfortunately. There are other science teacher types out there.

I know there's a thread out there for this, I suppose.

I would highly suggest getting the adjustable gongs. Way more experimenting/customizing on the user end. If you had one last night I doubt you would of combusted !

Just ordered an adjustable gong :) came out to around 9.50 with the discount code! Might take a while to arrive since it's on backorder, but the regular gong will be just fine in the meantime.

I have a solo and have been planning to purchase an e-nano soon. Will it feel like an upgrade, or should I just stick with the solo?

Hey there - I have an air and just got my nano over the weekend. They may have a similar look, but the nano is way more powerful! With the air, I would overpower the heater pretty easily and the light would start flashing.

The air/solo would take me a full session or two to finish a bowl, while the e-nano + bubbler acts more as a one-hitter for me.

Maybe that's part of my issue - never being a one-hitter, I like to take lots and lots of smaller sips. One sit and wait, I wind up forgetting to wait. I can sip my portable stem vapes and get 20 sips from a bowl. I used to roll nice fat, cigarette like doobs that burned for days. That was part of the process, actually vaping, I find it calming...

@CarolKing
We definitely have similar vape taste. I've missed you contribution lately to the AA and Solo threads. You advice is always credible for me, it was one of the reason I went with the nano. I am a heavier user than you, but that shouldn't make a difference. Practice makes perfect. I may mess with screen distance (it's their measurement now).

I had a solo (after an extreme for years broke down, and I had gone back to smoking). I didn't feel like it was really great as a portable, but soon discovered waterpipe usage. the e-nano is superior in every way for water usage; efficiency -- though close to a PVHEGoG Turbo Shorty --. airpath, even temperatures even during/after hit, taste. I haven't used it dry to comment, but I'm sure it's quite superior in that regard as well.

Say nothing of the ability to -- with some finesse -- be more selective of the effects I get... lower temperatures mean bright and shiny highs with a mood boost and motivation, even off of sleepy-time weed. Even using my solo on 3-4, then turning it off, gave more of a sleepy buzz. And 3 didn't do much at all on any of the bud I got, just a thin hit or two. E-nano wins in the low-temp vaping category, by far.

For portables, and since the solo is a plug-in I am assuming plug-ins are fine with you, I would go with other options. A VaporGenie, eJuice solution, or purpose-built dab pen perhaps. But I don't think the solo is very good for portable, that may be just me. Unsecured glass stems and all that, seem like a pain.

I wish e-Nanos existed (and I knew about them) when I bought my solo. I had to get it serviced repeatedly, and everything. The Solo is my (disappointed) backup now. Whatever happened to it, the air path kept getting clogged and I kept having to blow through it to clear it. For like 10 minutes. I dunno if there's a solution to that, but even my NEW solo quickly became a pain in the ass. Having to keep the charge level up because using its (advertised) charge-n-heat upgrade is bad for the battery, and I use it 20 times a day. The e-Nano just sits at 6.25 all day, and is ready to go, for me to load like a one-hit bowl, rip it a few times, and set it back down. Takes a lot less time overall.

I have to figure something out about taping down the cord somewhere, as it's a pain, but a week in I can't recommend the nano enough as an upgrade to a solo! Get a WP, if you don't have one, and it's heaven!

Also, spend extra for exotic wood; if they're out of stock Snappo will ship (even nicer) wood blanks to EpicVape for your e-Nano. This is mine, which is an EpicVape store-option "Exotic Maple Burl". Much nicer to look at than an LED christmas tree in an aluminum case.

Thanks for the thorough response Jon Do. Yeah, I have a crafty and a pen for portability. I'm using the solo with a bubbler almost always. Occasionally I'll grab my PVHES stem for a quick and easy dry pull. I've been eyeing the E-nano for way too long, just don't want to buy yet another $200 item I'll regret. I'm really betting I'll love it though.

Edit: Beautiful Burl!

Just know they take a while. I was about ready to melt down, it took from my order on the 2nd til the 17th. Though that was mostly their local USPS office bungling things for a week, production and burn-in testing take several days. It was worth it, of course, but still stressful.

It's also noticeably lighter, ~25% iirc, and a solid inch or so lower profile than my solo was with a PVHEGoG. I got a carb from OGB (link) (he does really quality work for how dirt-cheap and fast he makes custom stuff) so I don't necessarily have to lift the whole vape every hit. Great combo. Here's a pic.

e: Also the adjustable bowls are fiddly and take a little getting used to but are actually an upgrade due to sheer amount of temperature control.

Speaking of working with water bubblers I got my little bubbler today from dhgate and it works pretty good.
D0Z8jFIm.jpg

The mouthpiece to hose adapter is just a modified "bottle rocket" from mflb. The mouthpiece and adapter rack to the side of the bubbler is a cheap wood test tube holder I got from Amazon. If you are wondering about the hair band around my Nano I use it as a temporary holder for my dry stem during sessions so I don't have to worry about laying it down and some of the herb crumbling out if it gets bumped or just because.

Sounds like you have it all wired!

I get 4 to 6 rips per GonG.
I use a D022 the most with a modified diffuser. I have others I like however the D022 I use the most.

I love to sip as well. Both GonG types I have. (fixed/adjustable)

Sometime I do a @Caligula 2 rip method. 30 grams last about 5 days when I rolled joints. Now I'm down to 1/4 oz per week.

Like you I consume a lot.

SOLO in the garden.
NANO in the house!

I have the adjustable basket GonG and I get about 4 draws using my D020-D bubbler.:2c::leaf:

EDIT
I got the D020-D because you @ataxian suggested it. It works out better than the D020 bubbler, I like it fine it works great. Eventually I may get another one but I'm waiting a while. I have a vaporizer sort of on order right now, probably getting it in Sept. Also I want to buy something during the Black Friday deals, maybe a GH not sure yet.

EDIT
@Bravesst keep us posted on your progress.:peace:
:leaf: You definitely have enough product to get you there. The Black Market is alive and well in NY.

First of all I would like to say thanks for all of the helpful replies. FC is definitely one of the best, most welcoming communities on the Internet.

I'm not too worried about the heat up time, and I'm sure I'll be happy with the nano. It is a bit unfortunate that the website is misleading. However, I knew about the turn it up to 10 technique from reading the beginning of this thread. I didn't plan on doing that anyways, at least at first, as I thought it seemed a bit silly to turn it up and then back down, not to mention the risk of forgetting to turn it back and accidentally combusting.

By reading the forum I knew vapes change a lot over the years. I noticed they mostly change for the better. I wanted to read more recent posts about it but I wanted to purchase a home unit soon, and I was also worried about them running out of stock on the beautiful fiddleback maple.

I figured if the performance was good enough for the early posters/beta testers it would be good enough to me, and I still believe that. I have modest needs, and didn't really plan on hitting it for about 5 minutes, maybe 10 after plugging it in. If I can get a couple tasty low temp hits and a decent mid temp hit or two in that time span I'll be happy.

I'd rather not leave it plugged in 24/7 for various reasons, including the fact that I have cats. Even if it was plugged in but not on (I'm not sure if that's even possible) I could see them playing with the cord and pulling it off a table. Maybe I'll feel more comfortable with that over time. I do plan on leaving it on while I'm at home and awake. Either way, I have my Atmos Boss to fall back on, although I don't think that will be necessary. I would like to ask exactly what you guys mean by peak performance, in regards to 30 minute heat up times.

I want to thank everyone again and I hope I haven't sounded too negative, I'm really excited about my purchase, and can't wait to do some intensive testing when it comes ;)
Just so you know... when we had a second kitty in the house, I often would find my ENano laying on the floor, under the edge of the bed. You know your own pets best.

However, no harm=no foul

Yes, it is perfectly usable within a few minutes... and you will get lovely tasty results. Most of us elderly ones ;) have noticed that the performance does improve as the wood also warms, and provides a sort of stabilization effect. Perhaps.

One of these days, I'm getting a stando... I keep knocking the ENano off the table I keep it on now...

Win, win, win!!!

Warm wood iz good, makes a true diff.

I think I've heard that one before... Less is more.

In the beginning when I first received my Nano I would try to use too much product and it would give too hard of a draw. Too much cannabis packs too tight with the heating element butting up against the herb. Plus charring the bud too much.

EDIT
I still can have a 8 or 10 min session and a stir about 1/2 way through.

Sometimes I get tired of loading 3-4 tiny-chillum sized bowls up near the screen... and I load like a joint's worth with the basket real deep.

So far, as long as you stir it, and don't pack it too hard to draw, you can get even larger bowls thoroughly extracted. They're just not all huge clouds of hits.

Then again, I've only had the thing a damn week. Still working out the technique.

That was it... "LESS IS MORE"

I have other portables (AA, Solo, Mighty), had a powerful plug-in as well (Plenty), but the folks I respect here on FC LOVE their nano's, so I caved. Now I know why. I got a feeling there are plenty of ways to use the stellar tool, and it will open up a whole other path for me. I have two power cords now, which really will encourage me to use it more. Got one set up at my desk / work station, and the other at my Couch Lock spot. I use a little plastic clamp on the end table or tray, and boom, stealth is back.

Now, my definition of stealth is so unique. I have no young children, my wife damn well knows I'm a major cannabis head, she "smokes" too, but it's my "obsession" with cannabis and how it "interferes" with family (adult family and friends). At this point in my life, retired from the FDNY, I don't care who knows I smoke. Out of respect for my elders (yeah, even at 57 you have elders), I won't vape IFO of my wife's mom (even though she's only a couple of years older than me), but she so wouldn't care, I'd just feel weird. I also have a close friend who is a district court judge. I won't put him in an uncomfortable position (even though he knows and doesn't care). I have quite a few cop (and fireman) friends, who can't smoke because of drug testing, but want to so bad. They could care less if I vape.

It's more about keeping the wife quiet, and not turning my house into a "cannabis den" in her eyes (so not true). I need to put away if the doorbell rings, and it needs to be quick, because my super social wife may have visitors at any time. It's why AA's work so well, you can hardly tell you're holding it. Mighty looks like your vaping a cell phone, and it takes all the fun out of it for me.

I want to play with the toys (stems, temps, grind, and talk to you guys about it). I am so happy I took a few hours and figured it out. Once that bad boy warmed up last night, I was smooth sailing.

Thanks, you nano peeps are the absolute best! I can't believe how many members have helped me here, and I can tell with genuine concern that I have a good session.

It's official, Nano has taken the lead role in the rotation...

AM UPDATE:
I just put in an unmeasurable amount of herb in the fixed stem on 6.0. So small that grind-size is not an issue (just not dust), literally a shred. The size of clouds and potency of the vapor I got is almost like a magic act. If I can get this to stay this way, I truly will cut usage in half again (over other vapes that are already crazy efficient). Also just ordered an Ed blackwood nano stem - it will look like a little black top hat on this beautiful exotic walnut piece.

Since I ordered mine through massdrop I had my Ed's TnT cocobolo stem weeks before I got my Nano and it was the first thing I used on the Nano, the Ed's is likewise a fixed screen stem and I love it. I used the adjustable glass stem that came with it a couple times but always go right back to the Ed's stem. I grind my bud in my medium Mendo Mulcher grinder and just use the Ed's stem to 'sip' up a tiny amount right out of the grinder, I keep my Nano at around a 5.75-6 setting and in general get about six hits out of it. (Take two hits stir two hits stir.. two hits done. After 3-4 loads I dip just the end of my Ed's stem, enough to cover the screen, in 99% iso, let it dry a little, then take a small inhale through the stem empty on the Nano, remove it and blow the air out through the stem, I can see dry material blow out in a little dust cloud, this leaves the stem nice and clean again. I also have a GonG attachment on a bubbler which I like, but think i'll still be using this 90% with the dry stem.
