I use the cans without the lid and only put the lid on for storage if I'm going to prepare ahead of time. None of my other vapes use silicone and I wasn't sure if it was necessary with herbs.
As for grinders- I have a few 4 piece and a 3 piece SC. I try grinding with them turned over but I'm not happy with the result. I just ordered a magic box grinder- I had one before and gave it to a friend with all my magic box accessories. Only grinder that is fine enough so far.

Hello everyone,

Personally the only time I have had issue with the silicone lids is if I overfilled the can or if the lid was worn out and started to lose its form.

That said, we listen and please stay tuned to the thread. That's all I can say for now. :)

@fudpucker Welcome aboard! Thanks for joining the Haze family and thanks for taking the time to read the entire thread! Please let us know if we can help!

Just wondering if someone is going to take over the pay it forward program

That would not be easy. Have you seen the size of the shoes @Vitolo wears?

Vito was the ideal choice to manage the distribution part of the PIF programme because he was already doing it on a smaller scale. Before that, we (FC staff) had asked him to put to work the funds raised by @PhotoRider from auctioning off some of his glass collection. We asked him to do that because we knew that he already was helping out patients in his area, and we saw this as a great opportunity to chip in. Tragically, the increased activity might have led to the raid. Of course we don't know this, but that doesn't help my conscience.

I did not think of trying this. When I tried the cans, it was with lid and I prefer to use the convection screens (flower only for me right now), I just did not like the cans as much, I did not feel like I was getting much. I will have to experiment with the cans and no lid to see how that differs. The cans offer greater portability - no need to bring the shovel and try to reload while traveling - so it would be nice if I could make them work for me.

Thanks, paka.....
The traffic upset a neighbor... who made a report to the police.
but that doesn't help my conscience.
Let your conscience rest.
I will bear the heat of this and all actions that I performed.
This would be best resting on no other shoulders.
I love you for caring, buddy.
I will reveal more about the gruesome details of the police report in the appropriate thread at a much later time.
All Haze's out in the community are still functioning.
Together we helped.
That is all that counts, and it can not be undone.

Okay, tried the can with the lid off. Still did not like the taste, it seemed way hotter on 2 than with the convection screen and burned my throat. Then, my herb was done after only a couple pulls.
If I were interested in clouds, the cans are better than the convection screens. But for flavor and smoothness of the hit, I will stick with the convection screens.

Another question: I paid for the upgrade program. I haven't received any confirmation. Do they only do that when you return a Haze and if so how do I let them know I've already paid when the new version comes out?
You need to fill out the upgrade membership form on Haze website and once you are ready to upgrade, you need to send them an email requesting the upgrade. The send you a RMA number and instructions.

Hey guys
I also just picked up a Haze vaporizer. I too am having trouble with using he cans. Ive only had the unit for a couple days but I havent had much luck using the cans. Or even the convection screns for that matter. The conduction screens work awesome for me tho.

Im sure it takes a little time to gwt the feel for it but everytime i have tried to use either the convection screens or the cans im hardly getting any visble vapor when i exhale. While using the conduction screens im blowing some decent clouds on setting 2....

The grinder i use now is working great for the conduction screens also works great for my pax 2.

Does the material have to be ground up finer when using the cans?

The cans were one of the selling points for me so i hope i can get them to work.

Personally, I find that a finer grind and tighter pack works best in the cans.

I also take the temp up one notch when using the cans and never run them at less than a "3".

Grinding the herb and leaving it out for additional drying (1-3 hours) helps.

Finally, I will say that it took me about three days before I really figured out the right combination of material amount, grind, and pack. You'll get the hang of it though.

Have used nothing but cans for 4 months and never tasted anything strange? Even when using limp lids. Scott are you saying the lids should be tossed once they've lost their shape? Does silicone start to break down and give off strange tastes over time? I ordered some new lids but still use the old ones sometimes.

The lids can lose their shape. I am not sure if this is from heat or cleaning or both. The amount of time depends on the amount of usage, the temps used and how the user cleans them. I have not seen them "break down" but mine have gotten a bit out of shape and then they airflow gets messed up.
As for taste, everyone has their own opinion on this subject. Some say they taste it with even new lids and others never notice. I think a lot of this boils down to how sensitive one is to the taste. Personally I have never had an issue.

Edit:
@HyzerSoze good advice. Thank you!

Also - when installed, make sure the metal tabs are facing the edge and not the middle. This is probably the easiest mistake (and the cans won't work at all this way). Also be sure the lids are on properly (circle near tab).

Personally, I don't re-dry my herb at all - actually, I use Boveda packs to keep things moist and fresh and pack the cans w/ fairly gooey bud, and it vapes well on "3". I fill the cans with a regular grind to the top, and l let the lids give it a gentle tamping when I put them on.

Like most vapes, after reaching temp, it takes a few slow draws to get everything heating and vaping, but once it starts going, it goes!

@scottg402 - if I had a single request for the new version, it wold be an easier way to clean the central air path. At a minimum, Haze should include a .5" (diameter) stiff tube brush - I have one from another vape, and it fits it perfectly.

BTW, I still LOVE my Haze!

Would there be any way to incorporate a removable glass air path? Some similar to the ascent.
Well we do have glass stems but I am not sure that glass would work for the mouthpiece path. Reason being is there is a wide tolerance with glass. We can be pretty exact with stainless. This can be particularly important because there are two holes in the mouthpiece path that the chambers feed through. I would be concerned about aligning everything properly with a glass insert. Obviously durability is another concern.

That said I will throw that at the engineers to get thier expert opinion. I do like the idea. Thanks!

Interesting. Given the feedback, I'm going to try moister, rather than drying it out (which I only do for certain strains). Fresher certainly tastes better.

On the cans - I personally don't think they / the lids put off a taste, but they certainly don't taste as good as the conduction screens. Soaking in ISO will accelerate the softening; regular swabbing is what I would recommend.

As to the taste on the lids: I think I have one that is unusual for some reason. The other lid has no real taste, while the one in question has a bitter, plastic additives STRONG taste. As I said, bad enough I still have the taste in my mouth the next morning.
