Discontinued The Grasshopper

Thanks to those who attempted to answer my query :)

It doesn't fit at all, simply falls in. More than an 1/8" gap.
Sorry, but do you mean that a GH without the silicone mouth piece just falls in, or does it do this even with the mouth piece fitted?

Either way, it's good that it will fit in, as that paves the way for someone to market a proper adapter that will remove the need for the user to hold the GH in place.
Maybe a metal Grasshopper > [insert your joint requirement here] would be easy?

Forget who, but pretty sure someone said/posted a video showing an 18.8 m2m adapter works with the GH.
.
Apologies to you too (maybe I'm just being a little dense here), but did the GH fit inside the male 18.8mm joint?

What I'm hoping to find/improvise is something which would do a similar job to the WPA adapter which allows me to simply drop my Inhalater 05 into the 18.8mm female joint on my glass.

I don't know that you'll have that until @VaPeD&CoNfUsEd and @Ratchett design their adapters.

I also wouldn't think that would be a good idea with GH at all anyway, bc you'll want to pull it off to clear the piece no? And shut off afterwards if its not gonna be back to back hitting too...

It's like holding a lighter and bowl on a bong to smoke (:puke:) but with a heat source and bowl in one at least

With the mouthpiece on it fits IN an 18mm female joint with a gap to spare.
It fits neatly on a 14mm female with the mouthpiece, and will balance while you are inhaling. But not so much when you stop, unless precisely balanced.

I happen to know our very own @VaPeD&CoNfUsEd is working on a GonG adapter. A little patience and it'll be ready before most people have their GH's.

My intention would be to use it the same way I currently use my Inhalater/WPA (WPA courtesy of ShayWhiteGrow, thanks bro!).
That is to turn the unit off near the end of a hit, and simply lift the unit off the glass while still pulling to clear the bong.
So no real risk of overdoing things.

That's cool that something's in the works, I imagine that there's no way it wont be popular with GH owners:rockon:

In the meantime I guess that an adapter with a 18.8 female 'top', combined with the silicone MP and an O ring or two as suggested by Snappo would do the trick.

Looking forward to these 'tiny load' vid's that folk are working on

I'm tossing around the idea of a carbed water pipe adapter. There would be no need to pull the go that way. Just release the carb and clear and click off. What are you guys' feelings on that? Or would it just be easier for u guys to pull it?
Personally I'd like something as short as possible, and don't think I'd need a carb.
But either way would make me happy

I like the idea of a carb, my only concern is then it becomes a two handed operation so you can turn it off while you're still pulling to clear it out.
Either way we will work it out.

I actually don't agree. GH has specifically said not to blow into the GH to clear herb out. I'd be scared to trust a tiny carb to let all the back pressure out after stopping your hit in a water pipe.

Road trip!

Spent the last week cruising with the spousal unit in the car up and down the Oregon Coast. Only had to change battery twice during the week (after an hour of beach trekking). With charging cable in the car, it was more than enough to keep it charged between stops. I've been using a Pac n Stash to help with loading - just pack it full, screw down and grab a pinch off of it to load the Grasshopper. We found for the road trip it was optimal to fill the bowl about 3/4 of the way, made it easy for us to "session" while driving - (6 - 10 hits on setting 5). No issues or problems - I even dropped the clicker end in the sand once (it buried) - a quick wipe down and blasting it with breath - no sand in the end, none in the clicker - still kept on clicking.

An interesting note - over the week - we ended up using 1/8 oz of flower - I'm a heavy hitter, and the spouse a medium user. Much less than we would normally have used on this kind of trip.

The more I use it, the more I like it. I do need to get an external charger - that way I can keep the charger cable that came with the Hopper in the car full time.

Have any of you tried the pass through charging with it? And if so how long before can use it while hooked up to the charger? Guess it's to soon for anyone to say if it causes any problems or not

We did throughout the trip. Plugged into both a car lighter USB and plugged into the wall or a PC at night if we felt the need. It always has to have some charge to use it that way.

Can anyone who has a GH with silicone tip comment on how well it fits into a female 18.8mm joint?

I see folk holding the tip against (what I assume are) 14mm female joints, but I personally would prefer not to have to hold the GH while hitting the bong.
It would be perfect if the GH fitted inside the 18.8 on my glass.
Just use a 18 - 14mm reducer:

Just got an unexpected email from GHL..

August Production Update

Hi Everyone,

We have now shipped over 550 Grasshoppers. Stainless, Titanium and Color Grasshoppers have all been shipping out. The extra effort it took to produce the color units has really paid off. They provide some excellent contrast to the look and feel of the Stainless units.

mGIKOMqAz9KoWQ2IrFD5722HO3HtFsPiFn8NE5MR4TJd__esIh3bC7799nxdSn4zKbW8yZAAn90B5uo1Jguse6j3Nud1vimWD8fS4m5kZeQNBaowa4QNIyJHKmgram30mbnhEwk0XFD_O8zR1A=s0-d-e1-ft

Two machines are coming online which will drastically speed up some of the longest assembly tasks. Several other machines are in the works and we are aiming for a 10x assembly speed improvement by mid September. We know many of your estimated shipping dates have been pushed back one month at a time and this can be frustrating. This is due to assembly taking much longer than expected. We now have a better idea of the rate of assembly and are updating shipping estimates accordingly. Many of you will be moved back more than one month but our intention is to avoid a month-by-month change.

Production throughput has already seen exponential growth and we are very confident about delivery. With hundreds of devices out in the world, we are getting lots of great feedback from the community and are using that to refine our processes. If you are wondering whether the Grasshopper lives up to expectations, see the reviews section at the bottom of our homepage.

The delays have been frustrating, but as of today an additional benefit for early pre-orders is in effect. Grasshopper pricing will be updated to reflect the extra costs that production has incurred. The Stainless unit will move to $150, while the Titanium and Color units will be priced at $200. Just as our original backers received their Grasshoppers for a lower cost, early pre-order supporters now share a similar benefit. As an additional thanks for your support, we will continue to offer the original prices for anyone with an open pre-order until further notice. This means that anyone with an open order can add items at the discounted rate by contacting us. New accounts will be subject to the updated pricing outlined above.

We thank you for your continued patience as we work to bring the best possible product to you.

Thanks,

The Grasshopper Team

I changed last week, after someone received a purple one and posted a picture on Reddit. Looked a lot more purple than the "official" photo above.
They were quite responsive about accepting my extra money!

My invoice did actually update on the site, which, for GHL, I found impressive.

Yeah, anything before they actually have the capability to ship within a short time after the order is placed would still be considered a "preorder" in my book.
Can't really tell from this update if prices will go up even more in the future...
