Tags and Two-Step Verification

We've just updated our forum software and there are a number of new features worth mentioning. :)

Tags
Tags allow us to manually add keywords to threads. If someone wanted to find threads about coughing for example, they could go to the tags page and search for "coughing" or click on the "coughing" tag in the list. Tags can also be linked: coughing.

Tags can be added when creating a thread, or after the fact by clicking the Tags: "Edit" link near the top of the page when viewing a thread. Tags are also available in the Resources section.

To maximize the usefulness of the feature it's important to only add tags that are relevant to the overall theme of a thread. If a thread is mainly about herb grinders it would make sense to add a "grinders" tag. It wouldn't make sense if the thread was about something else and there were a couple off-topic posts mentioning grinders.

Two-Step Verification
Also known as two-factor authentication, this feature gives you the ability to add a second layer of security to your account. When configured, even if an attacker knows your password, they won't be able to access your account without also having access to your smartphone or email.

If you're interested you can set it up here: http://fuckcombustion.com/account/two-step

Miscellaneous

  • Profile posts can now be liked, searched, and reported.
  • New posts and resources are displayed in the sidebar
Some of the features such as the sidebar blocks may not work perfectly in third-party themes until the authors release an update.

We didn't, xenForo did. I don't know why they decided to use this approach, but it suits FC. #hashtags are inline and tend to be post-specific. As @vtac explained, we don't want that, we want thread tags.
