I'm looking at these two ginders and am wondering if anyone here has had any experience with them?

Nevermind, I ended up getting a cheapo WalMart Durabrand grinder for $6. Could'nt find a link to it anywhere. So far so good...grinded about 2g herbs. My lord the Keif, my how I have forgotten how a grinder can produce it. The unit seems ok for reclaiming the keif too...no nooks or corners (i like to flip the unit upside down at the end of a grind so that the herbs are sitting in a big pile of its own keif rather than saving it though)

We'll see how long it lasts but for now I don't see how I needed to spend any more than the $6 :)

I use a 3" mendo mulcher alluminum grinder with kief chamber, as the keif dust builds up I sprinkle it over my bowel and vap it.
I have had it for 5 years and it works great, lots of sharp teeth that pulverize the bud and with the screen box you dont lose any herb, also the magnetic lid is great.:D

Here is a link to the mendo Mulcher

So, I wanted to share my excitement from a recent purchase of a large 4 piece titanium space case. This thing is beautiful and wonderfully functionable. I previously owned the same one but in the silver finish. I think I like this one a bit more, just the looks of course. One difference is that the kief shows up beautifully against the contrasted black. It also allows you to see what buildup you have, if any, in the grinding chamber. I like keeping my stuff clean, so this helps me to gauge when to clean. My previous grinder, after the original other 4 piece was confiscated my the po po, was a medium sharpstone in which 4 teeth broke, so I went back to quality (in my opinion, I don't want to start another heated debate about grinders). I recently purchased a MFLB and on blissville they were offering this super tiny grinder about the size of a quarter... it looks cool as transportable grinder to bring with the MFLB, as this makes it that both items are tiny and easy to transport and hide, there is no way im bringing the SC around with me hiking or biking. But instead of spending more money, I just pre grind everything that Ill need and bring that.

i think im going to be getting a 7th Floor grinder. they look very nice. anyone have one? any thoughts?

they make them w/ the SSV and Buddha logos, but the Buddha website is bad news right now so you can only see the SSV ones here:

oh hell now the SSV site is being updated and acting quite odd.

anyway, anyone have experience with the powder coated 7th Floor grinders?

That was prior to going to an all CNC made design. Almost any brand name grinder these days is 100% CNC and broken or bent teeth are not an issue.

Nope, but powder coating is just paint without the solvent, and painted grinders are something I'd avoid. A scratch proof anodizing like MixnBall uses (unless you dig at it), or plain aluminum is going to maintain its looks better in the long run. Powder coating is also prone to orange peel.

yeah im pretty familiar with powder coatings. im a jeep head and have experience with all kinds of fabbed steel and powder coats.

but these grinders are only coated on the outside... i wouldnt imagine youd have to worry about any getting into the herb. how long it lasts on the outside is another story, but im not too worried as powder coating can last a very long time. the reason im really liking them is that you can remove the screen. basically im looking for a 3pc grinder where the grinding chamber has holes for the herb to fall through. like on any 4pc you may see. im aware of the space case "scout" grinders and i think they are great, but they dont have holes for the herb to fall through. your just suppose to grind herbs in grinding chamber and then dump that into the container area...? kinda lame IMO. ive seen a couple of other branded 3pc grinders and none of them have the holes. so when i saw that the 7th Floor grinder screen was removable, well that gets me exactly what im looking for. and they are quite sexy to boot.

do you really think there would be a health issue using these grinders?

That would certainly make a difference.

The 4 pc. Scout does, but it also has a screen.

Check out Kellys great products. I am certain they have what your looking for.

Not sure if I can link to an ebay store. I am a bit dusty on that rule.

Cool, thanks Lo. I normally dont use ebay so I wasnt sure on the rules on that. Should have just looked it up but was in a rush and wanted to help a bit as I am sure they have what the person was looking for.

I use their 5 piece and press and love it. Not a single complaint and functions great. I have also given these out as gifts as well. Great value and very fast shipping.

Cool, did not know that. Thanks. I purchased that one in 2007 so it has been a while. Glad to see sharpstone stepping up and fixing mistakes.

why do all multi stage grinders HAVE to have a pollen sifter?

maybe if i buy a space case scout and then the 4pc of the same diameter i can use the bottom half of the 4pc's grinding chamber with the 3pc scout... it could work, but would be expensive

EDIT* i just found some chromium chrusher grinders that are 3pc with holes (no screen). good prices too! what the consensus on chromium crusher? any reason to keep searching?

Well, it's easy to beat a grinder with handle (for long term reliability) by getting one that's made from one solid piece of aluminum (100% CNC). And price wise, I can almost get two of those for $28-http://merchantswholesale.ecrater.com/p/3768801/25-sharp-crusher-aluminum-tobacco-herb

You don't lose much kief when the ground bud just drops onto the screen. It takes a bit of agitation to remove much. Cut and put some tin foil or paper over the screen and you'll lose nothing through the screen. You can also grind upside down and the herb will never contact the screen.

I own a 4pc chromium crusher and its a good grinder for the price. Ive almost had it for a year and the teeth are still very sharp to the touch. Also i bought mine off of amazon and it included a stash AA battery case, blunt cutter, pollen press, and of course the grinder for around 25 bucks + free shipping . If your looking to get this grinder and dont have a pollen press get the deal that i got. It is a 4pcs but it would be exactually the same grinder if you took out the screen.

i think im still going to go with the 7th Floor powder coated grinder. the 4pc is designed with a removable screen and it has a larger area for holding the grinded material. im not much worried about the powder coating getting into the herb. powder coating is very strong and can last a very long time. and on top of all of that they easily are the nicest looking grinders.

now as soon as either of their sites is back up ill order one... :uhoh:

2clicker....Look more closely at the pictures of the SSV powder coated grinder, the edges are pretty rough and look like crap. Powder coating is great on many things but I'd pass on that grinder and here is why: the edge where the bare metal meets the Powder Coating will start peeling at some point, it is better when Powder Coating if you coat the whole surface with no end point.

Besides all that, they I know they don't make them so it is obvious that they are buying a Asian made grinder and tripling the cost. For that price pick one that has a great reputation and USA made i.e. Space Case, Cosmic Case, Mendo Mulcher. Check out some of the Shops in the Retailer Thread, they offer 12-15% discounts for FC members.

After using a few different grinders over the past few years and also an onyx mortar and pestle setup, I have to say that my small aluminum 2 piece space case is probably the grinder I'll stay with for quite a while. They're about $20 and well worth it. As all grinders gunk up at some point, I cleaned mine by letting it soak in a ziplock bag with rubbing alcohol for a few hours.
it's now as good as new and turns with beautiful precision.

Your thinking a little to much a grinder comes in 4 pieces if it a kief catcher. If you dont want to catch kief then take the screen piece out and i mean this by twisting it of and the just screwing the kief tray to were the screen would be making it a 3pc. Dont you want a 3pc sense u were talking about them maybe i just read your post wrong.

Like JeffP said you can get a 2 piece grinder for around $20, then you could get a Kief/Pollen Shaker Box and the cost for both can be close to the SSV grinder and you would get way more kief from the Pollen Box in one day than weeks with the grinder.

yeah i know i could do that, but im looking for something with some vertical storage under the grinding chamber.

something exactly like the space case "scout" but with hole for the grinded herbs to fall through.
