Discontinued Pax 2

I'm getting enough off of one oven in about four or five hits on 1 to get to a solid 4/10, with very little visible vapor. I get probably 10-15 total on one and a few more on 2 and it is pretty universally brown and evenly done.

Just picked up a blue pax 2 today, what a beauty! Initial impressions are good, feels solid in the hand and is very stylish. However I'm not so impressed with performance, and I feel like I'm not doing something right. Even on the third heat setting, I get very little visible vapor, which is kinda surprising to me. Also, when taking an extended draw, the light goes from green to purple about 10-12 seconds into the draw. Is this normal? I feel like it's cutting me off prematurely. Again, I feel like it's user error, but the P2 is pretty straight forward, not really leaving a lot of room for error

I'd suggest a full bowl, medium pack. I like the Cali crusher Homegrown or a Santa Cruz Shredder. Start on one and smoke until vapor is thin, stir bowl, and temp step to 2. Repeat until the bowl is brown dust at 4. I get some pretty big clouds from my Pax2 on every setting. Have had much better results that way than a fine grind. Also, let your herb dry out a bit after grinding.... I feel like I've made this exact post before already.

And if you're overpowering the heater in 12 seconded you're pulling way too hard. Take it slow.

Yeah the pusher fits just fine. I ordered them on eBay from newvape as a package. Came with screen and pusher, maybe they accidentally put a pax 1 screen in. I'm actually getting good results with the stock screen and the screen trick. So I'll stick to this method for now.

Interested in seeing what they come up with for the GH too, not that it seems to need too much. Time will tell I'm a may preorder so I've still got a while to wait yet.
Sounds to me like you got the pusher "sandwich " from New Vape. I use the stock pax 2 screen only. It's supposed to sit at a slight angle so not to restrict the air hole (even if you have a newer screen with the 4 little feet divots). The pusher I got is threaded so you can adjust its depth. Did you check that? I screwed mine all the way in and everything fits great. I use a poker from the Proto Pipe through the center hole of the pusher to help me place it and remove it.

The original folded screen trick works in place of the pusher too. Hope that helps.

You're right, I got the pusher sandwich and it's the screen that doesn't seem to fit.

So for now I'm also just using the stock pax 2 screen, and it's the one with the 4 feet. I bent it slightly for a little less draw resistance, and using the screen method. This method is working great. I'm still new to vaping , but I got some new flower last night. I ground up .25g, let it sit about a half hour. Ground a little finer when it was a bit dryer (just using my hands). Loaded up and starting on 2 then stepping up to 4 to finish. And I was absolutely wrecked. I think I'm starting to get the hang of it.

I appreciate the response and advice. This will be great practice until I get my GH.

Agreed. I'm waiting on a gh too!!!

Regarding the pax 2 screen, I haven't found a need to bend it. They recommend just inserting it on a slight angle. But if your way works...

I'm a May preorder so I figure I'll be waiting a few more months. When did you ordere?

Yeah I just bent it ever so slightly, had read somewhere that it helps, but I notice it seems to curve naturally. I'm trying to decide if I want to order a water pipe adapter and try it.

Very early June, and I'm still living the fantasy that it'll happen in September.

If you guys just ordered the GH it will prob be a long wait. I ordered end of may , my delivery date keeps getting pushed back , its now sept. but every month the date changes and it gets longer , people who ordered 2yrs ago still have not got there's but the great thing is we have the Pax 2 to hold us off in the meantime .

I just bought a Pax 2....after canceling my June order for the Grasshopper. I wasn't very happy how the updates were BS and not very open -plus the slow 200 grasshopper out in the wild with 40+ bad grasshoppers. The most recent update looks promising. I will have a grasshopper in my collection but not right now

Hi everyone. Just got my pax 2 earlier this week. I've read this whole thread, and I have a few questions about the screens and pusher from new vape. I ordered these hoping for a better experience, just a little unsure of how to use them. My main concern is the bottom screen. It says it should fall out easily after the session. Mine doesn't seem to. And I'm curious how it's supposed to sitin the oven. Mine doesn't fit flush, it sits at an angle. Is this the way it's supposed to fit or should it fit flush, and should I push it down to make it flush? It almost seems too big.

So in the meantime I'm using the original screen with the screen trick to vape half ovens. This seems to work well, only used it for a few sessions so far. But I would like to give the new vape screens a try.

Sorry if this has been answered, I did read and didn't see this covered. I did read some on pages 32-34. But they didn't seem to answer my question.

Thanks in advance.
Just a suggestion, see my post back a few weeks: http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/pax-2.17617/page-72#post-827141

@Justpassedu I ordered in May also and definitely agree about the updates, at least the last one gave some numbers (not the ones we were hoping for). That's why I went ahead and got the pax 2. This is my first "real" vape, and if it keeps treating me the way it has, I'll have no problem waiting for my GH.

@JoeMama I'm not using the method in the video, but I am using the pipe screen method, and it's working fantastic for me now. I used it last night on some new flower I picked up, and with just .25g I got a good 10-12 hits and was probably the most medicated I've been in a long while. I've just put the new vape screen and pusher back in the bag for now. Dont see a need for them. I do have a question though. Is the bottom screen that comes with it, the one with the feet, the best one, or are there other bottom screens that work better?
Right now I'm very satisfied, just curious.

Hey guys just wanted to update you. So after having issues with my Pax 2 not turning on I was able to get in touch with Ojan_at_PAX and he was able to help me out

I had to send in my Pax to Pax labs. They did pay for the shipping which was cool i thought. It did take about 4 days after i dropped it off to get there. Shipping was done through USPS.

After receiving my unit yesterday I received an email today from pax saying they determined what the issue was and will be sending me a new pax 2 kit. Which they said should be here next week sometime. I wish they would have told me more of what the issue was but its not that big of a deal im just curious like that. But hey i get a brand new unit so that is cool!

I do want to give a big thank you to Ojan_at_PAX for making this a seemless process and answering my questions. It was definitely reassuring to have some one to talk to through the process. I would have to say im pretty satisfied with the customer service I received from him. All in all it wasnt a bad experience having to return it.

My pleasure, dude! Your new device will be out the door today. I can't go into much detail about what was wrong with your original, but it was an internal issue with the heater that is absolutely no fault of yours so keep doing what you're doing. I expect a long and happy relationship with your new PAX 2, and hit me up any time with questions.

I did the same thing except I didn't cancel my order lol. I just bought the pax to hold me off, and I love this little device. I used it today during my lunch and I packed a tiny amount, put a screen on top and got two nice big hits on level 3. I finished my session in like 2 minutes and I was feeling good!

Glad the screen is working for you, Mike...
The Pax2 that I have, since I bought it when it first came out, has the screen without the feet. I never saw the need to buy another one yet... Personally I think it may not make a difference in anything other than maybe how much cleaning there is to do (anybody have an opinion on this?).

Yes the feet on the screen actually raise it a drop so it's not blocking the air passage in the heater. This causes a better airflow over the original screen. It's not much but it's there.

What @Justpassedu said, it gives slightly better airflow and makes the need for screen cleaning less frequent

I don't think the screen with the little feet sits any different than the original, at least over the heater tube side. Seems the same as the regular one.
Maybe a nano on the lower side but I don't think so.

It would seem that if they were a bit shorter they would lay flat and a bit raised from the bottom all around which would increase the herb capacity somewhat.

I don't know what those feet are for.

Maybe just decoration or so it wont slip out of your hand so easy when cleaning...
Anyway works great with either.

:wave:But they could work on an improved design for the raised mouthpiece since everything else is fine.

Bandoo,
Bought from a local shop, box was open but everything looked brand new. Two units were ooen, one with the raised mouth piece and one with the flat. I grabbed the one with the raised, the silver. Got home and noticed the piece inside the box was also raised. I hate this mouth piece, it doesn't ruin the experience but it definitely holds it back.

Unit is legit, thankfully. Was worried about buying a fake. Crisis averted.

Going to have to order a pack of 2, having a spare wouldn't be the worst thing.

One issue I'm having is pipe cleaners shedding their material when cleaning the vapor path and q tips leaving tiny strands of cotton everywhere. Any brand of pipe cleaners particularly good?

Try the "hard bristle" cleaners, which should be similar to the type included with the P2. They have little bristles that can be irritating to your fingers but scrub the path without shedding. You can find 'em on Amazon, or just about anywhere.

When a layer of resin builds up between the screen and bottom of the oven vapor production is decreased and cleaning is needed.
The screen with the feet lift it up slightly higher, but when we're talking about thin layers...its actually a lot of space and extends the time needed to clean that screen another week (with heavy use)...worth it imo.
People who don't like the raised mouth peice should try the BB method
