Discontinued Omicron Vaporizer for oils

I recently got a black Omicron HVD-V2.

It won't fire the new Ti dual coil carts on the Kiss Globe. I just get red blinky lights. It works fine with the original version (deeper cup) and also with the single coils in Ni and Ti.

@THC SCIENTIFIC Is this a known limitation with the Omicron?
I recently noticed both my 1701 Globe coils are doing the same thing unless I loosen the coil or base nearly 1/4 turn. Then they will heat up but feel loose so I haven't used them much. I saw a recent video with the 3.7v 1701 making clouds in the ophos thread, which prompted me to recently try them again and experience the red light problem.
However, I have no trouble with the double coils or single coils using the globe platform on the omicron, just tried a double TI to confirm and it fired up fine (although I'm not sure if it's an older version - probably since it barely predates the kiss A.C. release). I wonder what causes the red light in some globe coils but not others. Maybe there's something in the coil that can be adjusted.
All on The Core set to 3.7v to lower variables.

@THC SCIENTIFIC is there anything that can be adjusted on either the current generation floating pin Omicron, or the carts themselves? I am encountering the red flashing button when trying to use the KISS gen 3 Ti dual coil at both recommended voltages on the Core as well as when using both of my 1701 3.7v Globe donuts. The kiss gen 3 reads .70 on the meter, 1701 reads .89, and a normally functioning single ni coil reads 2.24, if that helps. Thanks in advance for any insight!

what battery and what voltages are being used on the core?
Omicron v3 with the core set to 3.7v on the 1701 globe donuts, the kiss gen 3 601M ti dual coil blinks whether it's 3.7v or 7.4v on the core as well. When I use batteries it's always AW IMR these days, but I wasn't using batteries.
1701 seems like it can fire sometimes at 3.7v if it's loose, kiss gen 3 gives red light every time regardless.

Having a weird problem with my minicron KISS cart. The threading of either the center cone or the atomizer itself seems to have degraded. The center cone slides on and off of the atomizer very easily. I gave both of them a good clean and dug between the threading with tool to get any reclaim out....but that didn't work.

Can these cones be bought anywhere? Does this fall under the minicron warranty?

Awesome forums here!

Bought an OPHOS a few months back and really enjoying it. Have just purchased the voltage/ohm tester and 100ft of kanthal for rebuilds, which is easy enough.

Is there anything I should know about the OPHOS? Besides the fact it's just pretty much plug and play.

So... I am the proud owner of the new touch button Omicron, and... It's the shit! AC skillets and KISS G3 carts fire fine. Still getting used to it, but so far I love it!! Thanks, Sam and Gary, for getting me back up and running :)

I like your question. I been looking into a temp mod for the herc. The one you listed is a single battery unit. Not recommended as it is abusing the battery using 7.4 Herc. Now there is dual battery mods. I believe these wI'll work but no guarantee. A few people have reported success. I am going to jump the gun and get a 150w sigelei with temp control and try the HERC on it.

I've rebuilt my first cart (KISS 3.7V) using 32ga Kanthal for my OPhos. I may up to a 30ga wire.

Here is my question. I've done 5/4 wraps, which is giving me 3.13 ohms on the tester, battery is testing at 3.66 volts.

Should I reduce the wraps to 4/3 to get the ohm closer to around 2.7?

Any other suggestions?

hey guys, just wondering, what is the best place to buy an omicron with the essential oil cartridge (the one you can fill up around 0.5 grams of wax). I have no experience with wax vapes, only with dry herb vapes, and I would like to know. Also, is the omicron v3 the latest one, does puffitup sell the v3? Thanks!

Yes it will work. I've used my herc with the IPV Mini II with a single 18650 battery.
It does "abuse" the battery, but you must make sure you are using the proper type of battery. It should be rated to handle 20A continuous, a good example of these are Sony VTC4 and Sony VTC5 (the VTC5 were probably the best battery on the market, but sony stopped making them). Next best is the AW IMR 18650. But it will drain your battery pretty quickly so have some spares.

The reason for the "abuse" is because the voltage is boosted (boost circuit) up to meet the wattage requirements, causing more current to be drawn from the battery. This is especially dangerous if if you are not using the right kind of batteries. If the current is too high for the battery to handle, there is risk of "venting" (which is a nice way of saying "exploding").
Using dual-battery mod (wired in series) does not have this strain because the voltage starts out high at 7.4 and is reduced (buck circuit).

When using the herc and TiGr2 cartridges, the resistance begins to rise as the coil gets hotter. When the resistance goes up, it requires less power to keep the heat going. The problem with VW is that it adjusts the voltage up whenever the resistance rises to keep the set wattage the same. Now if your mod operates in Variable Voltage mode, then its better because the voltage stays constant and the watts will adjust (lower) as the resistance rises. This is more efficient and uses less power. Its like a car, you need a lot of power and gas to get started from a complete stop, but once you start moving it requires less power because you are already "coasting".

I've used my herc with the Cana mods, IPV mini II, iStick 50w, and now the Evic-vt.

In most cases, the temperature control mods will not work with the Herc or W9 TiGr2 coils (KISS, Alpha, globe). This is because the temp. control is programmed to operate in low resistance 0.1-1.0 ohm. Anything higher and it switches into VW mode.

Also of note, I prefer using the old Hercules black rod that comes in at .8-1.0 ohms. Less heat up time....

@THC SCIENTIFIC Still looking for word on this. My Kiss AC with single coil also gives me red blinky lights very frequently. I'm constantly forced to unscrew the cart and rescrew it till it fires properly. New style Ti dual coil carts for the Kiss Globe never work.

There is an Omicron v4 that they say can handle down to .6 ohms. This should fix your problem with the red light. After spending nearly a month with support trying to understand why $15 is required to get my warrantied HVD v2 consistently working with carts it's supposed to (globe coils, 1701 globe, kiss gen 3 before they put up a disclaimer) I gave in and bought the upgrade which I hope to get later this week. I'm encouraged to hear @ragnorokk is having a good experience with the new touch button v4, and glad to support new technology since I realize developing it isn't free.

If this is the case then I just need to hear officially word from @THC SCIENTIFIC and I will open a support ticket.

There really needs to be a chart on the official site which states compatibility between the various products. In fairness to myself though the Kiss AC was specifically marketed in this thread as working with the current gen Omicron. I am not trying 7.4v or even dual coil just the basic setup of Kiss AC with single coil at 3.7v.

@elmoe420 the Omicrons can run the gen 3 but it is suffering from Low Voltage issue.

The new tops fix this but its still at 99.99% where there could be a fluke coil that might not work on it.

Also all omicrons shipping out will be our touch button top versions starting today.

@THC SCIENTIFIC Thanks for the reply! I am actually not using a Kiss gen 3. The red blinky lights are happening on Kiss AC single coil and Kiss Globe Ti dual coil. This is pretty consistent. I can't get the Globe to fire at all and the AC requires unscrewing/screwing repeatedly.

Dual coils and the single coil cause the battery to go into low voltage because the initial load required to run it is just to great, contact support we will handle it. i promise you that you won't be disappointed in the fix.

So I just got to use my kiss globe for the first time.. Great flavor! I like the wick material, and nice ti
I love the black wicks, they work so much better than the old white ones. If I could only own 1 cart I'd probably pick the globe.

Yea, works good, although I have a feeling my tiny 510 kanger battery is heating up the kiss globe slower than if I had a proper battery
