So my cousin is trying to get me into dabbing and I came across a nice bong style pipe with a bowl that is not a bowl its called a Honey Pot with Car cap?! Idk what the heck that means or is I will post a pic as soon as i get to my comp (on phone). My question is do I want this thing for dabs or what the sale price is $40 just for that honey pot my cousin is giving me a bong style glass pipe so I just nee that piece. He told me something about a nail? Im new to this so I need help. Can someone break it down for me. He showed me a torch style lighter to use and it kinda turns me off. Makes me feel like im hitting a crack pipe or pookie. I need a crash course. If any of you can help I much appreciate it.

If you get the honey pot you won't need a nail set up. Check out the concentrate section of FC for the thread "That's it I'm done with concentrates!!!" lots of good info there.

Yeah, lighting your nail with the torch and dropping your dab can look a little sketchy to those that aren't familiar with it. It is, IMO, so far the best way to consume concentrates for quick immediate relief of whatever ails you. Within a minute you could be heavily medicated with just a single dab of the right material. Concentrate edibles are also another option as well and are very discreet, but you would have to make them or obtain them somehow. The relief also isn't going to be as immediate.

If you have the funds, look into e-nails/d-nails because they don't use a torch to heat the nail if that really turns you off, but you need a power source.

You'll need a torch like this and i'm guessing the glass you're talking about is a dab rig which will work great for concentrates. Dabbing is pretty nice if you want a strong high, but if you don't smoke often then it may be more then you're used to.
Also, don't try touching the nail while it's cooling down. I know that sounds obvious, but a lot of people who are used to grabbing a bowl piece subconsciously grab it after their hit. It will burn the shit out of your fingers.

If it's not a well made honey bucket, wouldn't bother it will be inefficient compared to a nail. From my experiences I always had stuff left over on the swing it never Vapes as cleanly as my nail or it laps out the back/front but ynmv, mine is a pot/carb cap from China.

There is a market for nice honey pots/caps so it's obviously working for some people. Not me though lol.

The honeypot and bucket was invented by Scott Deppe. Same guy that invented the nail and slide.

(Kevin McCulley aka Quave had created his Club Banger and IMO the honeypot and swing is an evolution of the banger).

A big advantage is when you swing the bucket outside of the honeypot to torch it, the smoke and vapors from heating the nail don't fall into the piece like happens with the majority of dab apparatus including a Banger to an extent. Often one must pre-'clear' the vapor out of a piece with a banger after torching, this draws air through the banger and cools it down faster- so if you time your dabs for consistent low temp taste this throws a wrench in the works.

MS swings are extremely consistent in shape and optimum cooling time. The top of their buckets are coldworked and lapped flat for as good of a seal with the OFZ cap as is possible and the Optimum Flavor Zone cap's stem protrudes into the bucket a specific amount for the best airflow, best flavor possible. Worked buckets like this one are a bit out of my pricerange though.
