Got a chance to try Dogfish ahead Amercan Beauty on tap. To me, it had the nose of a Pilsner, as well as that "soft" quality that a good Pilsner has (exemplified by the velvety smoothness of a Pilsner Urquell enjoyed at the brewery).

Not sure if that is the intent but it's a great combination of high octane and flowery, hoppy smoothness. The only Pilsner-ish beer I've had that could put a hurt on you if you weren't careful...and the thing is so nicely balanced you don't notice the alcohol levels.

Managed to try the last Bell's Planet series today. Neptune. It's called a "Mystic Stout."

It's an imperial stout with a bunch of adjuncts. http://bellsbeer.com/planets/neptune/

There is a lot of shit going into this stout. It sounds more complex than it is (to me...maybe my taste buds suck).

I was able to try it at the brewery and in the bottle today and it's a very solid stout. The roasted malt is most prominent. However, given that prominence, it is much smoother than I would expect. It's a dry stout, but a well-balanced stout.

Tonight I tried the Atwater Hop-A-peal. I like some of the Atwater beers but this one left me cold. It was on draft and I had been assured that it was refreshing. Not to me. Tasted like someone had run a marathon and then drained their armpit hair into a glass. The orange was so off-base for me that it ruined the beer. I went against my own beer ethics and opted not to finish the beer. A sad day in BeerVille. Would love to hear from someone who likes it because I'm not getting it.

Yeah, a well crafted beer can be brought to its knees or even lower by a poor draughting set up. A few years back I was at a local establishment that I don't frequent, and found that they had one of my preferred IPA beers (Dogfish Head 60 Minute) on tap. Well, it certainly didn't taste like the bottled version that I knew and loved. I wonder how many folks ordered one of those and decided never to dringk Dogfish Head again. If a place can't set up its system to do a good beer its due justice, then they simply shouldn't serve it. They should stick to the bud and coors lights.

We are lucky enough to get this right out of the tank at the brewery... it is one of my favorite summer beers, and much more of a drink-all-day kinda beer than some of Sweetwater's other offerings like 420.

If you like Waterkeeper, you will LOVE their white IPA Whiplash.

Save the Hooch, Don't Float the Mainstream, and Support your local Waterkeeper!

Hell yeah, I just bought another six pack of the waterkeeper yesterday in fact. I'm gonna have to keep a close eye out for Whiplash, that sounds up my alley. I just got to try their Hop Hash infused double IPA, though not that cask version with the mango and brett. It was excellent!

Until recently, all I'd had from Sweetwater was 420. Now, I'm living not so far so maybe I've got a shot at some of that single batch stuff. Heck, I'm less than two hours out as the google drives, I gotta make it out to the brewery!

As of July 1st, the laws have been revised. They used to not be able to serve more than a few oz at a time, and now the state allows breweries to serve up to 32oz pours:rockon:



EDIT* FYI Sweetwater announced they are going public this past Friday, lets hope they don't start fucking with the recipes and bottling processes.

I was at a specialty Wine and Beer bar for a fundraiser tonight when I ran across this gem when leaving the bathroom. If anyone recalls any of my previous posts, Stone Ruination is one my favorites. I didn't even know Stone Ruinten was a thing until tonight. I can't wait to try this one.

Ive been frequenting Lagunitas Sucks Double IPA as of late so the Ruinten should please the pallet. According to my 6 packs its now and unlimited release instead of a seasonal beer and that's just fine with me :cool:

Anyone try Dubhe imperial black ipa? It's brewed with some hemp seed, I'm guessing not enough to put a Cbd content on it tho because it only gives the abv %9.2


Does anyone else happen to brew?if so wtf happened with price of kit's? The all grain one's wen't up so high there all most as much as extract kit's.

Here is a few good monks I have been drinking with.

Monk's Café Flemish Sour Ale - Brouwerij Van Steenberge N.V. 5.5% abv

Definitely a solid sour reminds me of a cherry pepsi, its a sweeter brew but delicious all the way through!!




Monk's Blood - 21st Amendment Brewery 8.3% abv

This is a great beer to sit back sip slow and enjoy all the flavors.




Founders Blushing Monk - Founders Brewing Company 9.2% abv

Finally this outstanding brew, its tart sweet and packs a nice punch.



The Blushing Monk and Monk's Cafe are some of my girlfriend's favorite beers as well as mine. So if anyone wants to share a drink with a lady friend that both can enjoy give one of those two try.

- With Raspberries -- The chocolate is prominent on the nose. Smooth and not too sweet. Hints of chocolate and raspberry.

- With Coffee and Chocolate -- I was a bit disappointed with this one. The coffee is a bit overpowering, burying the chocolate.

- With Toasted Chiles -- The pepper does a nice job of cutting the sweetness. Finishes smokey with a bit of heat.

- Triple Mash -- Wow. This bad boy checks in at 14% and there is no hiding it. A bit sweet with a good mouth feel. Chocolate, vanilla, a bit of molasses.

Edit: The beer gets its terrifying bite from smoked peat malt, champagne yeast and 100% Scottish water, along with a unique freezing process during fermentation that takes away much of the water, but will never take its... FREEDOM!!! The brew tastes incredibly powerful by design, since fans of their last insanely potent brew (Armageddon) were disappointed by the palatable flavor and had trouble believing the alcohol content claims, though they stopped short of calling them snake oil salesmen.‎

Pure godly is only how I can describe this. 7.2% so it packs a wallop but the most enjoyable kind. Very smooth. Will post more of my favorites soon.

Sorry, I was a little lit last night. Didn't even vape because I drank too much beer. Wrong.

Well those beers were from a local brewpub so no band names. I have been trying milk stouts lately. I recently tried Left Hand Milk stout and Stone Milk Stout. Liked the Stone better, a little less roasty. Also, I thought the Left Hand was a bit solventy for me.

Goose Island's Bourbon County dropped today. It was completely sold out where I live by 10:00 AM. There are 5 variants but getting to the liquor store at 7:30 AM was only good enough to get me the standard.

Wow, what a beer! So smooth and balanced. Vanilla, caramel, and hints of coffee. Full bodied with a great mouth feel.

IPA fan here. Where I live they're not cheap & often close to the Best Before date, especially the American ones for some reason.
It's an expensive gamble.
I brew strong ales but only do it a couple of times a year because it takes months & I tend to drink them if they're here.
One of my favourites I found recently has to be Old Antonia Calvados barrel aged, wow it's good. Also enjoyed a four pack of Hop Juice by Left Coast Brewing but it's kinda hard to find.

Anyone had a Southern Tier? I've known from others (the brewery isn't too far from here) that they are high quality brews, but hadn't had my first until a couple of months ago at a place that had the IPA on tap. Liked it right off the bat, and bought a case (= 24 bottles) a few weeks ago. Can't describe like @Mr Mellish, but a nicely blended ale with a strong and consistent flavor from first sip to last.

So went for my next case of IPA the other day and they were out of it, but they had a couple of variety packs. One was the high abv stuff (the beer kind, not the bud kind) and the other was a selection of IPAs: 2xIPA, IPA, Right-O-Way IPA and Live IPA. The last two are highly flavorful session IPAs. I avoid session ales but these are fully fleged IPAs. I'm enjoying them. And the IPA is still good. Haven't gotten to the 2x yet, but certainly will this weekend.

Don't be hesitant to order a Southern Tier if you're out and about and see it on the menu.

EDIT So the Live is a pale ale, not an IPA. Light and flavorful summer seasonal I guess.
