Some stuff from the last two days.

Flattening mouthpiece blanks so they're easier to chuck on the lathe.

Some custom tooling for all of the mouthpiece measurements.

Roughing out.

Spot drilling.

Marking out the total length and the length of the tenon at the same time.

Putting a bevel on the tenon to match the angle of the drill point that I will be using for the mortise hole. This will allow the tenon to fully seat into it's mortise so that there is no glue line on the inside diameter of the airway.

The finished mouthpiece blanks.

Boxes all glued up.

The shop at dusk. Usually I keep the doors open all day for a nice breeze. I get a lot of dragonflies flying in to check things out...and inevitably get hypnotized by the overhead lighting. The other day a hummingbird came in for a quick hello!

Truly like a fantasy life out of a novel, to be a dragonfly in that shop looking down...

Don't forget to hornscrote your backcroggle and prupple up your thurn grunder!

Instead of the typical thurn grunder, I decided to fuse the hindle core with a jig that would not only provide inverse reactive current, for use with unilateral phase detractors, but would also be capable of automatically synchronizing cardinal grammeters.

Now, basically the only new principle involved is that instead of power being generated by the relative motion of conductors and fluxes, it’s produced by the modial interaction of magneto-reluctance and capacitive diractance. The original jig had a base plate of prefabulated amulite, surmounted by a malleable logarithmic casing in such a way that the two spurving bearings were in a direct line with the panametric fan.

The lineup consisted simply of six hydrocoptic marzelvanes, so fitted to the ambifacient lunar waneshaft that sidefumbling was effectively prevented. The main winding was of the normal lotus o-deltoid type placed in panendermic semiboloid slots of the stator, every seventh conductor being connected by a non-reversible tremie pipe to the differential girdlespring on the ‘up’ end of the grammeters. Moreover, whenever fluorescence score motion is required, it may also be employed in conjunction with a drawn reciprocation dingle arm to reduce sinusoidal depleneration.

wtf? I want to hear about dragonflies and see pics of the cabin! I literally sat there and stared at that one for a bit. I realized it's not just your Okin I'm attracted to, but your life and the way you see things!

After reading this I feel exactly like when I watched the movie V for Vendetta.... "Holy shit are those real words he's using!?"

Good god, man. With the greatest of respect, have you been taking night classes in stating the bleedin' obvious?

Tbh, this nearly made me cancel my order, not only because I hate being spoken down to like that but also because at one point I thought you were gonna say the main winding was placed in the endermic semiboloid slots of the stator, not the panendermic semiboloid slots of the stator. Close call.

Thanks for putting my mind at rest, but please, a little less condescension (and little more action) next time. We're all adults here, with at least a basic understanding of how to grundlefrunt a ploxic soupy twist.

Please don't comment on another member's style of posting. If it breaks a rule, report it and do not respond.

Also, it's clear from your posts that you adhere to the discredited and rather outdated Melsploffian school. Nobody grundlefrunts ploxic soupy twists anymore, it's much too inefficient. Dan seems to be right up-to-date, since he's using applied Ralstrooper theory.

You know, while pondering the last few posts it has occurred to me that all the time Dan spends reading these posts and replying as such, is all time he is not working on our (already) beloved Okin's, right? We could be delaying progress! So my thinking is that I am now going to cease posting in this thread altogether - no, not for the benefit of you all :p but so as not to distract the master at work!

. . . . Until I get my Okin :D

;)

@VegNVape Don't worry, all my forum reading and replying happns during break time anyhow, no loss to you!

I'd actually say that I feel more motivated when the thread is active, so there ya go...
Well I'm pleased to hear it! Thanks for the reassurance Dan, I feel much better now.

And after all, I will agree that you do need to allow some time to relax I suppose ;)

Ah well, sorry folks, but I guess in that case it looks like you're stuck with me for the foreseeable future.

Better luck next time eh! (Must try harder) :p

Looking forward to drooling over the next set of pics & tease of an update Dan! . . . . .

Thanks for sharing your photos. Man, even your jigs and custom tools look like pieces of art. And don't get me started on that little cabin of a workshop you have... made me wanna buy a transcontinental ticket and pick up my Okin in person! You sound like the kinda guy I would like to meet.
For me as a non-native speaker it is not easy to find the proper words sometimes, and I don't want to sound like an idiot too, but owning one of your creations will be a great honor for me and I will treasure it greatly. And from what people report on here, I think for me it might very well become something like a daily driver, especially when I am alone. I appreciate these kinds of rituals.

cheers
Daf

I made my own Okin this afternoon, was really easy if anyone wants to give it a go.

You need a few cardboard inner tubes from some kitchen roll to act as the stem, one of those robot grabby hand things that ppl use to get tins off of shelves, and a screwed up sheet of A4 paper being held by the grabby hand, set on fire, as a heat source, oh and an old sock to use as a screen.

I've run into a few minor bugs, I haven't quite figured out how to get the handle of the grabby hand in my mouth and use it with my tongue, the grabby hand melted when I set fire to the A4 paper, I passed out from inhaling plastic fumes, and my house burnt down, but every vape goes thru teething troubles on release so I'm happy to share these plans while we wait for our Okins.

Also, does anyone know somewhere I can stay tonight?

Get your version up to date, the screen is no longer made out of a sock... use a pasta strainer instead!
