I wouldn't compare the Air to the MFLB. I didn't like the Launch Box either because I didn't like inserting the battery every time you want a draw.

The battery lasts around an hour of time and this unit can be used plugged in. Maybe something like the Solo you would like more. Initially the Solo's battery lasts a little over 2 hours. It's really cheap. You can get one for less than $150. You probably don't want to shell out more money if you just bought your Air.

Just have more batteries charged and ready to go. Maybe you are missing your other vaporizer that's getting repaired? If you are having a problem with harshness at all just use s longer stem. The Air works well with a bubbler too. Sorry that you are disappointed. It's expensive buying vaporizers. Hopefully you will get used to it and like it more later down the line.

I feel like I am just sitting around staring at those blinking lights, waiting and waiting and waiting for the blue light to move to green so I can enjoy a hit.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the blue light does not change to green when ready. I simply stops blinking and stays solid when the temperature is reached. No wonder you are waiting so long!

I recommend starting at the low temps (blue or white) and see how those work for you. Additionally, lower temps = less battery consumption.

I think that may have something to do with whether or not it's charging during use. When I use it while charging, it makes all kinds of color combinations that make no sense to me.

I would strongly advise against doing that, it's probably the worst thing you can do to the battery. Worse by far than leaving it 100% charged 24/7. The charger is not powerful enough to support the heater, it needs a solid battery with at least a partial charge. Otherwise while it gets charged when the heater's off, it gets hammered into the mud again every time the heater starts again.

IIIC the 'back of the envelope calculation calls for 12 minutes charge at a minimum from dead before trying to use the 'use while charging' feature. I'd suggest even a few more minutes.......and charging it when done.

The light show is probably some sort of SOS signal from the battery......just not in Morse Code.

It's worth noting that with ESV this very problem (plugging it in dead to use) was destroying the batteries in a matter of months (slamming into the protection over and over reduced capacity a lot) and was removed as a feature with the ongoing upgrade. Now you can get about 40% more hits (use more of the range) but can't heat and charge at the same time. In Air it's not as big a deal since you can easily and cheaply replace the battery.

I recommend charging when it's dead, and avoiding 'use while charging' all together. Enjoy it (cordless), recharge it (if necessary) or load it up and stash it for next time.......

If I don't use it while it's charging sometimes, then I can't use it at all, because if I run out the battery, then it doesn't do anything. Also, I rarely let the battery run out, because it doesn't seem to work at all when blinking red, even if it's plugged in.

The pattern I've gotten into is: When the battery is fully charged, I will do about three sessions before plugging it back in. If I allow the battery to fully discharge, then I can't use the AA for hours. So I have two choices: 1) Never be able to use it because it's always charging, or 2) Use it while it's charging sometimes.

I get what you're saying about absolute water in the air by weight. If I heat up herb 20F, it should lose water regardless of worrying about percentages. At this point it needs to be sealed up, while 20F hotter. Correct?

So I left out my weakest strain (714) since this morning - the highest RH strain, and worst vapor production. I ground it (not too finely). Central air on all day (always is, hasn't shut off since June). Yesterday and today were probably the two most humid days of the summer on Long Island. Today, the RH in the house right now is under 60 because I cranked the AC all day.

Pretty much using the Air 100% (and for all of these trials). My vapor production improved on my 714 (date) strain, using a PVHES shorty vortex. I've always found that just being a bit patient on the hit seems to bake it (and maybe dry it). This is using the AA itself to dry the herb before hitting harder. I'm a sipper anyway, so patience can be a very good thing.

Humidity levels should plummet in a couple of weeks. My sessions have been pretty awesome, and I have about 4 strains, 2 off the chart, but I will leave some 714 over the router, drop back in the mason jar or Cvault, not using boveda before final storage.

I believe that's what you're saying in a nutshell.

QUICK QUESTIONS: How long do you leave on router? And them immediately drop in Cvault? And no boveda? (sorry, that's Otis talking).

As far as using drying agents, I don't think I'll have to resort to that, it's dry by September, and once the heat goes on, the house dries out (I was drying out herb this way back in June). I still like the little nuggets, but will use any formula to extract more THC.

And thanks for the detailed list of instructions. Hopefully, I won't have to follow them all, as it's already 8/19. By early September, we have perfect weather here - except for the occasional Noreaster

UPDATE:
20 minutes on router, couldn't resist packing a stem. No warm up hits necessary, must have just dried it a bit, went right to good vape (same strain). Right now, I got a few grams in a small strainer, lined with a coffee filter, sitting on my router. My weakest strain might just kick ass tonight.

UPDATE 2:
RH in house down to 57, I'm (Otis) is gonna get a good house hygrometer!

UPDATE 3:
Herb is dry. Crispy, haven't even seen it that dry in months. 20F, sheesh...

I highly recommend picking up a couple extra batteries and an external charger (Nitecore seems like a reliable brand). That way you can always have a battery or two topped up even when you are using the vaporizer. If a battery is close to empty, swap it out with a freshly charged cell from the charger!

This is how I use my Air, I never charge in the device. Nitecore D2 is my weapon of choice, but it is a slow charger at 500mA. Takes over 4 hours to fully charge a depleted cell. But I have 3 batteries so that isn't an issue.

Thanks for your reply, CarolKing. Yeah, you're right. I don't want to buy anything else at this point. But I did some thinking about the Arizer Air last night, and I decided that I just need to get my rhythm in sync with its rhythm, meaning I need to just allow it more time to do its thing. If I plug it in first thing when I get up, then it should be happy to provide for me later in the day.

And, it's so embarrassing to admit, but I totally misunderstood the instructions, although having two green lights on the unit is confusing to someone who has already used it and is, therefore, somewha, uh, impaired. I realized that the blue light is the key light, not the "hey, I'm charged now" green light. So I was waiting, obviously in vain, for another green light to show up (heat selection #2) before I could begin. What I should have been doing is paying attention to the blue light, which is the "now you can use me" light. The green light for the heat setting is already shining brightly! Duh. I never was real good at instructions!

So, the forum has saved me from making a dire mistake. The Air was in the return pile. Now it isn't. Thanks!

You are spot on, photobooth. I totally blew a mental gasket while studying the directions. It's the blue light that's the "go ahead" light, not the green one (my temperature of choice). The fact that the charged-up light is also green was how I got confused. I am no good with reading instructions. Can't read maps, either!

Reading AA lights is not on any IQ tests... Details can suck!

I was thinking that might be a much easier way to go, but for now I need to chill on the spending money thing.

I had a feeling it was going to be something like this, Arizer has been very good with making simple-to-use portables (as well as their two desktops), however I do agree that the instructions are a bit lacking on some points. I don't think they've even updated their "new" Solo instructions to say it works while charging now  In tech support this is humorously referred to as PEBCAK: Problem Exists Between Chair And Keyboard   Glad to hear you figured it out!

Forget that, we need more exposure, I wonder if it's too late to get it into "Common Core"? From what I know there's a lot of very questionable stuff they can drop to make way for useful information like this.......

^^^I just got my AA last week, and it included the piece of paper with instructions regarding stems and "your Solo unit."

Shh, ixnay on that, everyone will want one.......

Makes sense, really as the stems are basically the same. You do know that, right? Air and Solo stems interchange?

According to planetvape, the stems and gongs at e NOT interchangeable.

I have a PVHES turbo gong that I mistakenly inserted into my Air. Almost broke the gong.

I've got a bunch of PV stems, and I forgot which ones are for the Air, and which ones for the Solo. I wind up using them all in my Air, but on the PV website, they sell them separately. I don't have any gongs, so I can't speak about that, just about five or six stems (bent shorty, turbo shorty, vortex shorty, regular turbo, regular vortex,) for both Solo and AA. No markings on them to indicate which vape they go to. I just lost track  and kind of even forget what I ordered. I don't think they were marked in the boxes, but the invoice did exactly indicate what I'd purchased, but physically, I could not tell which was which. In my experience, everything fit everything. But glass is glass, and I have a stock Solo bent stem that is so freakin tight, I don't use it at all (I have another better fitting bent). My joda is a great piece, but same thing, so tight I feel like I'm going to snap the head off my AA, so it doesn't get used at all.

Another data point is the very first of them (like my first one) came with a Solo stem rather than than the 'new style' sorter all glass stem (the shape of the bowl is different). In fact I think I was the first to report the shorter all glass stem on the Air I bought for the Brother in Law for Christmas:
zmsSrLE.jpg

So at that point Arizer thought the Solo stems worked in Air? And for sure Air stems work with Solo, lots of Members are using them there as 'poor man's GonG adapters'. My Ed's stem is very tight (it's slightly bigger than the factory glass stems) but it works as well.

I wish I coulda made this a new thread, but it's really all about the Arizier AIR...

Vaping Air
by Bravesst (cannabliss pen name)

I had a Pax way back when, never worked right and took forever to clean - a big hot mess, but now I liked vapor. There were so many vapes to choose from, when you first start getting into this experience. I found the vape critic first, he loved S&B stuff, so I went through the whole Crafty, Mighty experience. Honestly, great vapes, but I got tired of returning them to be fixed.

Then along came the Air.

I made a trip to a LHS (one of the biggest on the east coast I bet), and they had just about every vape out there (except logs). Standing in front of the glass case, with the hipster little girl who worked there, with her eye brow rings and purple hair, I felt like a kid in a candy store - staring at the Haze, Davinci, Mighty, Solo, all in one place. I wound up leaving with a Silver AA (that I knew more about than she did) for $220 cash (not bad for a complete noob, as they were asking $260).

They had no advice, it had no instruction, but I had you guys. So, without going into the thousand pieces of advice I got here on FC (thanks @OF @Pipes @CarolKing @stickstones @manymore) I learned, and am still learning to vape better and better every day. But using the Air is like inhaling pure, sweet tasting, thick air. I love the entire experience of it, from the ritual of storing, grinding, loading, to the great high you can get, to the unbelievable results I got from vaping vs smoking to help my anxiety PTSD, I love it all.

Even my crazy ass wife can't fuck that up (sorry, one Brooklyn sentence).

I love playing with all the variables, toys, getting it just right for me, then inhaling Air and getting High.
