Elmoe420 that was it! I had to unscrew the top gold nut quite a bit to the point it is almost falling off. I then screwed the SR-71 on the cap first then the cap on to the 8 until it was snug leave a tiny mm gap between the cap and the body. Now it fire's like a champ. Hmmmm. I don't really want to have the gold nut almost hanging off. Gotta find the sweet spot I guess. Is this just the way it is with the 8 or is this a known issue? Anything I can do or adjust? I was just suprised to see that in the default screwed down config none of my SR-71s and neither of my ACs will fire.

@sethhobrin Try adjusting the bottom screw on the Herc like @lonelyhero suggests.

Also if there is still a gap between the 8 and the threaded top cap then that means you should be able to adjust the gold nuts down bit by bit till the gap disappears but you still feel some resistance on those final few turns.

Hey guys, it's a bit of a cross post, but this thread sees way more action. Just wanted to say I got my Omicron HVD v2 serviced (well, replaced) with the new version (touch button) and it's awesome. The adjustable center pin seems way beefier, definitely more stiff... Upgraded to handle 7.4v at higher amperage, maybe? Physically holds carts better. I'll be trying my Herc with it on the core tonight. It works with all the AC parts (including dual coil using batteries, like my older model!), so I thought I'd share in both big threads (lacking an AC thread). Hope that's ok.

Edit: I should add that it only would power my KISS 3G dual coil at the high end of a charge, but would fire the AC skillet (also dual coil) a few more times before it said "no more". Probably a variance in resistance, though I recall them only being off by something like .02ohm

@sethhobrin One thing that I've found really helps is to always take off the threaded cap and screw the cart onto that separately first. Then screw the threaded cap and cart all at once onto the 8.

Start with the gold nuts on the 8 center post adjusted way up. As you screw the cap and cart down you'll feel resistance once they connect with those gold nuts. Stop once you feel solid resistance don't keep tightening it down.

Since you adjusted the gold nuts way up there will be a gap between the threaded cap and the 8. Use the size of the gap to tell you how much to screw down the gold nuts so that the gap goes away. I personally make sure there is always solid resistance on those final few turns. This way I know the cart and the gold nuts are making tight contact.
Well written... although I do suggest I suggest one significant difference; Start with the nuts properly installed and run all the way down. Make sure the tapered lower nut covers the unthreaded lower portion of the post; "down" on that nut feels sharper up top. The part that goes up is flat on top. The top nut make sure it's flat on top. Run the nuts all the way down but not tight. Feel the (lack of) resistance threading just the top cap onto the 8 body, and how there is Zero resistance until the top cap bottoms out against the 8 housing!

One thing to consider: You must build the cartridge assembly from the top-down, then install it onto the top cap, then adjust the gold post. If you install a Hercules bottom insulator with no cartridge to make contact with the pin inside the insulator, the adjustment of the 8 will be off; the top nut will be adjusted too far outwards.

For example: Seat the pin of the AC base by removing the coil, pushing the base onto a table, and seating its center pin into the base. Then thread the coil into the AC base and ensure you feel contact being made (slight resistance or drag) before the coil bottoms. If your coil is oily you may elect to place a housing over it; if clean maybe not... In any case, now that the Alpha Centauri is fully assembled, install the unit into the 601 (or 510, if that's what you're working with) threaded 8 top, and only then proceed to adjust the 8 post.

If you thread the top cap all the way in, take the top cap off and try facing the button towards you, then pinch and hold the top nut while spinning the vaporizer button away from you 180°. Reinstall the top cap+assembly and gently at the end- see if you feel any resistance. If not, try another 180° and test again. If you over shoot that perfect contact 'just at the end', all you have to do is back off the nut a little bit: The ideal spot to feel resistance is in the final 5-10° of threading the 510 or 601 cap onto the 8, 1-2 sheets of paper thickness gap before the cap goes snug. If you have to tighten say a full 1/4 turn that's going to put unnecessary force on the vaporizer cartridge / AC bottom assembly / Hercules bottom assembly.

So for the donut....do you load the oil onto the disc or do you just throw it in the middle and let it fall down the center hole?

You want to get the donut shaped ceramic wick to absorb as much of the oil as possible. I've read different techniques on here and I think a lot has to do with how viscous your concentrate is. If your concentrate is fairly thick I've heard of people 'buttering' both sides of the wick and then dropping it on top of the disc. For myself, I almost exclusively use CO2 oil which is very thin at room temp. My applicator is a syringe and so I use a technique similar to 'calking' to get it onto just the wick.

Like any wick based cart the trick is to apply small amounts of concentrate at a time. Pulse the button to melt it into the wick as much as possible.

Frankly I'm still not that big a fan of the donut specifically because of all the extra effort that goes in to using it properly without leaking.

What is the difference between W9 and UP Tech?

Is W9 the business/retail side while UP Tech is the R&D/development side?

I've always been confused with the branding of W9 and UP Tech, especially now that OilVaporizer and Delta9 are in the game.

Thanks!

Up Tech stands for Utopia Planitia Technologies which is our parent company.

W9tech.com is our direct online retail site, oilvaporizer.com has licensed our technology along with delta9vapes.com

We manufacture select items for them. They are also carrying items from other Chinese manufacturers.

The manufacturing firm I am a partner at also manufacturers for another company that's also present on FC and that is why you see our carts under different brands now and more will follow soon.

We are currently working on something that will take Up Tech to the next level and really be a international company.

In other words we are looking to hire 3-4 full time engineers in house.

This should give you a small idea of the project requirements.

God willing if all goes well. 2016 will be the year we are a global company.

suggestions for a reputable battery source?

Edit:

My disappointment in @THC SCIENTIFIC & UpTech for the bullshit disclaimer they put on the gen 3 kiss cart can't be expressed in words that would be considered appropriate on this thread. What the FUCK do you mean my BRAND NEW V4 PERSEI TOP is incompatible with your newest cart?!?!?! I mean at least keep selling the gen 2............

Please ask if your vaporizer is compatible before ordering.

Might not work on Omicrons, Minicron Lite's, Minicron's, Ophos's, Persei's or any of our older designed circuit boards. To fully unlock this units potential a sub ohm unit like the 8 is needed.

Is UP tech to continue developing for the portable oil vaporizer market? Is there a shift in which market to focus?

You would think we would not but we will.

Portable herbal and oil market will still be developed by us as well as desktop models.

We are not going to stop what is our core business and what put us on the map.

What we will do is change strategy in how we approach the market.

can anyone vouch for the 3.7 rod? specifically wondering about leaking issues

Ill vouch for it... It was my first idea because i, in theory, could run it on 1 18350. It works for 5 - 10 solid hits before getting weak, but i carried 4 to get me through the day. It was very conservative, and didnt have the leakage problems i had learning the 7.4. One big difference is that the 3.7v didnt seem to get hot enough to vape or burn off everything. It would be intense flavor up front, but hit forever. 7.4 tastes better all the way through even though the bowl burns faster. But after having nearly equal time with both now, i do understand why the 7.4 is the standard. I run it on 2 18500s and its got plenty of lasting power and still dont mind the size of the tube for the intensity. If youre willing to wait longer for warm up and have much less time between charges, 3.7 can stretch out a stash for a while.

Fortunately enough we do have the gen 2 right here

http://www.w9tech.com/vaporizer-sale/

The reason we have that warning is the Kiss Gen 3 sits right on the border of what our current circuit boards can handle, majority of it works on these units but some because of production variance throws off a low battery and or the resistance maximum the circuit board can handle.

This is beyond our control since these carts are designed for our next generation sub ohm vaporizers that is in development.

Thanks for the link, I must have missed them earlier. I guess I'm just confused as to why a new cart that can't be used with one of your most recently updated vaporizers was even released.

Cartridges are easier to develop then units itself.

Although we have made some good innovations in the unit part of the vaporizer industry but our main contribution is in the cartridge category.

So basically the 8 is the only unit anyone should buy if they want to use any of your new carts

Has anyone been able to use the rebuild kit to repair a cartridge?
My last Kiss cartridge only lasted one day while the previous one lasted for months.

I have done rebuilds before for other carts but I have never tried to build one before with a fixed wick in the middle and use Ti wire. It seems like I need at least 6 miniature fingers to hold everything together.

Using "normal" wire I could use a blow torch to fix the coil once I had formed it. I tried the same with the Ti wire and it just lit up like magnesium!

Any tips would be welcome (I did find Diehard 's description but it does not use Ti wire which is causing me the problems).

@DrRishi have you seen my rebuild explanation?, its not the greatest but I use the rebuild kit supplies by w9, I am going to make a video once and for all since I have time off work for a bit now that will make the crappy explantion make perfect sense haha

Edit: it was waaay back on page 1043
