Source Orb Pen Vape

I found another VV batt, and wow, Terras are awesome. But my rosin leaves some residue. How do people clean these?

+1 this question - I have like 5 terras caked with hurriedly-made rosin residue... I'm thinking I should have ISO soaked them awhile ago ;(

On another note, my source orb slim came in and it's exactly what I was hoping for! The new glass coils are awesome too, and seem to be built sturdier and with more consistency in quality between all 5 in the pack. The packaging on the slim (and I'd assume everything else in the product line) looks very sleek/"hip"/modern; it almost makes me wonder if some of the delay in the new line coming into stock had anything to do with the fancy packaging redesign

Question about the coils on these glass attys, where are they situated?
As in high up near the rim or closer to the bottom?
The 5(regular) doublecoil attys i got last time all had them right at the top, making them pretty shitty sadly.:ugh:
Especially as the one i got in the initial kit was located near/at the bottom, making it way better.;)
Thanks in advance!

I received a 5 pack of the Quartz double coils a week ago and so far I really like them. The coils are positioned at the very bottom and the air vents are almost all the way at the top of the side walls of the quartz. The old doubles made a mess of the Orb pretty quickly but the new ones don't gunk it up anywhere near as fast. I haven't had any clogging or leakage into the battery either.

I used to love the Terras but my favorite was the very first one due to minimal airflow. The next 2 Terras that came out both had way too much airflow which made it harder to get a great hit, you really have to draw slowly. I'm still on the fence weather I'll try the quartz Terras or not but I wouldn't doubt it. I still have 2 of the og Terras

Two ways.

1) Get a 30W+ battery and turn it up to 22-25W. Hit the sucker a couple of times and it will start to glow. You can smoke what comes off of it but it will be pretty hot - eventually you will burn off everything on the ceramic donut.

2) ISO. I use 99% - throw the sucker into a small contact lens container w/ the ISO and shake for 3-5 minutes.

If the residue is rosiny and black, you can burn it off by turning the temperature all the way up or you can clean it off by dunking it in 99% ISO. Might need a couple of rinses.

The actual heating element should be able to be cleaned to near white using just the heating method. Typically I wait until the coil has restricted airflow before I dunk it in ISO ( because this is the costlier cleaning option ). Below is one that is a little dirty ( cleaned mostly with heat ) that I will probably sit on for a another gram or two before I dunk it.

I made some comments about the Orb compared to the Dr. Dabber over in the Dabber thread. I'm still ramping up on both and haven't landed on an atomizer of choice yet, but I have gotten a lot of huge, buttery smooth hits out of this thing. The variable voltage battery is nice and I like the heft of the Orb itself. I thought it might look a little too phallic from the pictures but it's actually very elegantly curved in person. Like a tulip bud.

Anyway, digging the Orb so far and suspect I'll like it a lot more once I find an atomizer to use as my default.

I read in your other post that you didn't like the Terra. I also did not like the Terra until I got a different battery. I think I've said it 4 times in this thread and I probably beating a dead horse, but try a box mod/VW battery with the Orb.

The terra can take a lot more juice than the Source battery can put out. The atomizer also increases in resistivity as it gets hotter, which makes constant wattage ( not voltage ) a premium. The other atomizers I would absolutely follow Source's suggestion on regarding recommended wattage and voltage, but I think the Terra is off and if you want to give that one a real go, find a strong 510-eGo power source.

That said I think the second strongest is probably the dual coil Quartz. You can go pretty hot or smooth with it. It does seem to clog a little faster than the older one for some reason ( maybe because colder material can make its way into where those holes are ), which I am not super stoked about, but it does taste much cleaner, has a larger chamber, and stays cleaner longer overall.

So still no signs of the ' Quartz Terras ' ?
Could have ran into some kind of glitch during the
launch process .

I just got my Source Orb 3 attachment today. However had a few questions. I wanted to use the terra coil but don't have even a clue about temperature control and all that. So with that being said what should i set my wattage and temperature to? I am using a Sigelei 75wTC with the terra atomizer.

After using it more I've come to the same conclusions. The Terra works best for me if I let it run a full cycle without hitting it first and then a second cycle of decent vapor. Clearly the coil is eating up more voltage than the battery can deliver before the cutoff.

So, that in combination with your comments caused me to go ahead and get an eGo adapter for my old ProVari 2.5 so I can use it on that. Plenty of juice there. I'm thinking 5.5 or so volts is probably close to what it wants?

Oh, and one more observation: the Orb atomizers seem to work best with specific concentrates. In my experience the Terra works better with shatter but gets cloggy with wax. The two coil quartz works better with wax (in my experience) and gets goopy with shatter.

I want to like the Terra, so my fingers are crossed that it'll work better being driven by a ProVari.

Oh. One question for you or anyone who has tried: is there a way to vape keif in the Orb? I haven't busted out either of the dry herb atomizers yet so I'm not sure if they're appropriate for it or not. I have about an oz of pressed keif and am always generating more, but have yet to find a really satisfying way to consume it...

I ordered Orb 3 XL Travel kit directly from the Sourcevapes website. I wanted the Premium kit, but somehow the order got screwed up (which could have been my fault), so I got the XL Travel instead. For some reason, getting that small issue resolved seems to be a challenge for Source, but it is a small issue and very well could be my fault. I'm impressed with the product itself.

My vaporizing experience thus far has been the Silver Surfer, an Iolite, some generic ~$20 globe pens and a Haze that isn't quite cutting it for me (the Haze works fine, it's just not the right product for me). I'm glad I came across this thread AFTER I placed my order or I probably would haven't ordered the Orb. So far, I've been pretty happy with the purchase. Source shipped within 24 hours.

Of course I fired up the (ceramic) Terra first. Mine had a funky smell that needed to be burnt off. The terra functioned properly at all voltages (3.2-4.8v) on the Source battery, a Vision Spinner and on some unbranded eGo style batteries. I'm not sure why others are having voltage/ohm issues; I assume it's either inconsistencies with production and quality control or perhaps Source has tweaked things in response to the issues. The Terra seems to function best at ~4-4.5v, but YMMV.
The terra is everything you've heard, great taste, cooler vapor, etc I was surprised by the efficiency (as in how far the concentrate goes). No waste and less splatter inside the orb than I'm used to (in my globes), probably due to the deep bowls. The concentrate went further in the Orb/Terra than it does in my Haze and miles farther than it did in my cheap globe pens. The vapor was hotter and the taste stronger on the Orb vs the Haze. The Haze hits much cooler. You can get some clouds if you're willing to crank the voltage up. personally I prefer lower temps/voltage.

I accidently rocked my world by hitting the Quartz dual coil at 4.8v; I got a big, hot tasty hit followed by a big dank cloud. The coils didn't light up red like I've seen with other atomizers, but clearly they get more than hot enough. Both the Terra and Dual coil bowls are a little deeper in person than they look in the photos and they do a good job burying the coils deep in the bowl. I liked the Terra the better of the two. The slim chamber has airflow control. I'm not sure which I prefer yet.

I really like the black chrome finish and the Orb looks better sitting on top their battery than my other ones. I think it's worth the ~$10 extra to have the matching battery, but the black chrome Orb looks good on black and stainless batteries too. The case that comes with the Orb 3 xl Travel kit is pretty nice.

I can see Source has had some growing pains and I hope they get thru them since it's a pretty good product and pricing is very competitive. I would suggest they offer a ~$50 Travel Kit with the Orb 3; it just strikes me as odd that they don't and it's a popular price point.

It also occurs to me that the Orb 3 & Orb Slim might be improved if Source moved the air intakes from the below the atomizer into the lower part of the chamber. Then the breather hole in the bottom of the atomizer could be eliminated. That would prevent the breather from clogging and prevent leaks into the battery, and I bet it would still "hit" good. It's certainly worth making a prototype to see. ;-)

@Jimi759 ,
Glad your enjoying the V3 ,
Did you get any Quartz Terras like in the video below ?
It doesn't sound like it .

Hey guys,

Here's another Sneak Preview of our upcoming new Quartz SOURCE terra with some Moxie live resin concentrate.

Again, these are modified v2 atomizers to show the coils and vapor, so these are not the final versions of the SOURCE orb 3 atomizers.

We'll be releasing more information on our new products every day, and if you'd like to keep up, please visit our blog: http://www.sourcevapes.com/blogs/news

I'm pretty sure you're the 1st one here on FC to get one .
So please review for us , let us know the ' scoop ' .
That's the next one I want to try .

I'm not sure what to say. I liked it. It hit cleaner & cooler than any other portable vape I've tried. I can't compare it to the ceramic terra. I do plan on ordering 5 pack of these little guys.

I am new to the forum so I apologies if anything is out of format. I just received an order including the quartz terra. I have used the newest Source ceramic terra and other coils from many manufacturers so I say this with some background. It is very smooth and allows the flavor to come threw very easily. The addition to the quartz, the added lip and more depth have made this one a no brainer for the taste connoisseur. I love the single and double coil quartz also as they lend a thicker hit for sure but still retain flavor. My experience also leads to more heat needed of the terra over the other Source coils. I am using the new Innokin disrupter with no issues at all with source orb3.

Thank you for posting the pics ,
but I can't really see any difference .
I don't see the Quartz ' insert ' inside the atty , like
in the video . In the vid , there seems to be a slight
separation from the metallic part of the atty .

Can you please elaborate , or maybe post another pic
from a different angle .

I'm glad you're enjoying the V3 .

Hi guys, been using the Puffco Pro for a while and this setup just seems like the next level!

I was hoping for a little help as I would like to purchase. Is the Signature Kit on their site worth it? Or is the Premium fine for a starter kit? Anything in the Signature Kit that makes it really worth it? Is the consensus pretty much that the terra is the best? Sorry, new to this next level and appreciate any help:) What would you buy extra? Any coupons you know of?

Also anyone have experience with the water bubbler attachments they sell on there site as well?

Order from Planet Vape. Source customer service is horrible. Not sure about the Terra.

Ya , PV is great .
You have to try the terra , that is the best atty of the bunch .
I'm waiting for PV to get the ' Quartz terras ' .
Still haven't gotten word back from Source regarding their faulty battery.

Hope you get a replacement soon , but you'll
want a stronger battery anyways to use their terras .
I may want to upgrade from my 15 watt to a 30 watt
from what I've been reading .

It looks like the Sig. kit comes with extra attachments like the
glass globe and slim mp , plus extra attys . But I only have the
Premium kit , they didn't have the Sig. kit option when I purchased
mine . The Glass globe is what I would like to own , so I can view and
see what is happening . And maybe regulate/moderate the splatters .
I think I can buy the globe separately .

So your call , do you want the extras ...

Thanks a bunch sir! I just spoke to them on the phone and they said the next order of sig kits are coming in 2 weeks. Figure my Puffco will hold me till then. I placed an order for the Sig kit as I want the globe and the slim and I also put in an order for the Source bubbler.

Thanks for the help.
