Discontinued Zion vaporizer

I'm new here - been lurking for months, following the GH threads as a pre-orderer, but I'm wishing for one of these Zion babies now. :luv: (Maybe instead of..?) I love the idea of the simple design and materials, low heat, and stealth isn't a concern. My husband and I haven't vaped before - but a few comments in the GS thread made me worry, like that it wouldn't make a good only or first vape, plus the heat and failure rates. I was almost going to go with a FF or an UD before I signed-up for the GH, but the Zion looks like the perfect combination of the three!

Only problem is I'm in Aussie-land.. can anyone confirm that if the shipping says $0, then they will not ship here? :(

The batteries are a good deal too, they're $20 each here, but the charger needs to be 12 or 24 volt DC for me, since I'm up solar creek without an inverter atm. :D
Hey sent you a PM.

Had to come in here to say congratulations to @RastaBuddhaTao :rockon:

Been watching your thread and I am very excited for you.

I feel like your products are a part of the Vaporizer 2.0

Lets talk design/industry someday and maybe we can find some synergy!
Thanks so much. Your product line is very much talked about and held in high esteem amongst our beta testers and I was inspired by your product feel and simplicity when developing the Zion. Having time to chat would be a treat for me... And I need a line on the beeswax butter lol.

Hello FC! I've been lurking on this thread for a while and just recently decided to make an account specifically for this vaporizer since it looks so promising and amazing. My question is for @RastaBuddhaTao, does the lifetime warranty still apply if I get the preorder for $169? All I see on the website is a 3 year warranty. I was under the impression that you extended it until August 16th.

Many Thanks,
Jermz

Thanks @Fission for helping @Jermz383... It's nice to have informed customers helping out potential future customers :). Yes, the lifetime and $169 will be available through the 16th . This is not only a good thing for our customers but it's a great thing for RBT. This small perk gives us a highly experienced group early adopters that will provide expert product feedback for a lifetime. For that reason we are more than happy to make this investment in our product research and development. If what the Beta Team was able to accomplish in a few short months is any indication of what's to come than FC customers are like gold.

Yeah, that fits great in the picture about what I said earlier. Everything RBT and crew is doing makes sense and is community-customer-friendly orientated thinking and behavior. Can't stress enough, I love it! Rest assured I'll give help and feedback where I can and this is definitely the place to be! I know I am a small number and haven't got wisdom like @OF and Co. but the more I wanna learn and be there too. It's the attitude that matters - like yours. Another match  :)

No idea if this is the right place to be asking as unfortunately everytime I wake up @RastaBuddhaTao has come up with a new idea and a new thread. I asked in a PM about any ferrous material in the load chamber and here is why.
It's just an idea but I like the concept of pre loading ability.
JfXTEKG.jpg

This is something I used for other purposes so is for illustrative use only. Once manufactured, to suit which ever stem you had, could something along these lines be loaded with pre ground or even whole bud? If another screen was added you may be able to load thru the spring sides or if no screen were needed thru the top. This could be then wrapped in one of those old fashioned Rizla type things to avoid spillage. Paper would just need removing before you dropped it in the stem. The spring may or may not help with hot spots thru its natural vortex shape and additional holding screen. If it was to work it would mean no moving of the supplied screen and different lengths could be used to govern load size.
Just an idea.

I've been considering a log vape for a while but didn't like the idea of being tethered to an outlet. Stumbled across this thread a couple days ago and I'm sold.

Just by chance my warranty replacement Crafty crapped out yesterday. That makes one dead Crafty every 5 months for me! I take it as a sign that I need to get in on this FC pre-sale. Looking forward to being a part of this community. Especially looking forward to getting all that flaky and unnecessary computeriztion out of my vapes!

Now, if the webstore would just come back online... (*cough* @RastaBuddhaTao *cough*)

Cool idea. Thanks! Fun to think out of the box :)

Seems that the issues with the webstore are related to a VPN I was using not liking it. Now that I'm able to access the store I'm officially in on the FC pre order! Good thing I'll be travelling for 2 weeks in September, will take my mind off the wait!

@RastaBuddhaTao will there be a chance to change my delivery address before October? I'm moving in the next month. Will be able to get it at the address I provided but would prefer it coming to my new place.

Just so you guys know, watching RBT brainstorm is just as interesting from the inside as it is from the outside. We beta testers may get a few more details than you guys, but the stream of consciousness design ideas and rapid idea implementation just stuns me. Not EVERY idea is a great one, but they ALL lead to more ideas and new approaches. This is a lot of fun...

Hey guys, this is directed towards people who have experience actually using the Zion. From what I can tell, you load your herb into the glass joint on the bottom of the stem, and then hook it up to the heater. The herb seems like it should be able to fall out of the stem, based on the pictures I've seen. Where does it fall into when that happens? Is there another screen above the heating element that it falls onto? Also how do you guys typically hook up the Zion to a bubbler like the d020-d. I'm envisioning a m-m gong adapter, and I take it you would put a screen inside the gong and load it with your herb like one of the stems. Is that accurate? Also, I'm sure this has been mentioned somewhere but what size is the glass on the Zion? I know I've seen somewhere but can't find that info.

(All if this is because I just got some dhgate glass in the mail today and I'm excited to use the Zion with it)

@dormouse yeah what Veg and Pak said, if you make it through some of the thread (could always go backwards!) I've done several posts about the effects at various spots on the dial, I typically temp step my loads, and while it measures voltage I've found it extremely intuitive for translating spots on the dial to temps, and you get a full spectrum with the knob. As Pak said, I'm actually thinking the voltage seems better to measure temp/effects than a digital display even, I definitely adapted to it quite quickly (though I do have an Underdog and vvps, this is smoother though with more variety even). It will be interesting to see "precision" temps with GH, though even there it doesn't seem so 100% accurate either...

Man I wish I had some GSC over here again to try in Zion, been a long while, such a fun strain!
I still love the analog dial of the Angry Mountain (volcano). Find what you like, call it done.
As I am getting excited for Zion, I am looking for a few extra 18650's and a good pocket flashlight to go with them. These LG's will be fine... right? Thanks.

Just FYI, those are labeled 35A, but they're 20A max continuous, 35A max pulse. So they're similar to a lot of batteries labeled 20A, as many (most) other manufacturers post max continuous, rather than max pulse.

Hey hey :)

RBT provides 'basket' screens which sit happily in the 18mm joints.

Your description of hooking the Zion up for use with water is indeed correct

And yes there is an integral screen below the load to catch anything that falls, which from my experience is generally very, very little as you are obviously drawing the load firmly into your stem upon each inhale.

Hope this helps!

:peace:

Yeah male to male, 18.8mm (though its USA standard, not IS0 so not all fit perfectly) just stick a Zion screen in there, they're fantastic imo, though EQ screens and ELBs may also work for some too.

With the Zion screen like a basket, it dies a good job of clinging to the herb when packed using the suck up the straw method, sometimes if its really full, and if you have a glass rim above your basket screen like me, you may want to tamp it a bit with your pinky.

Every so often I have crumbs fall out into the bowl on the Zion, but there's an extremely durable, very fine, ss screen above the heater so never any trouble, I just flip Ziggy and tap any flakes out (and put em back in the stem if I'm stirring anyway).

I've also suggested a small paint brush -like brush be included at some point for this, and it could also double as a ramrod for adjusting screen placement

@thekarmawhore It comes with a nug!! I am indeed delighted.

That must be the special surprise feature we heard about? The included test nug?

Very cool stash compartment! Anyone else notice the beautiful finish on there? Every sneak peak we see is a bit further along, and every one of them has me dreaming more about my Zion.

Edit: Thanks @Shit Snacks . After looking closer (with my glasses on) see what you mean.

Very beautiful indeed, though i believe that is a computer model, not actual wood just yet. The final in hand version will be even more beautiful I'm sure, fantastic job Karma, production Zions are going to be sleek fully featured all in one beasts...

Here is a look from earlier in the thread. That 18mm M2M has an Arizer ELB screen in it. This is one of my favorite ways to enjoy my Zion, Venus. :)

Being new to stem based vapes I was concerned about losing goods from the stem too, but it turns out that it mostly stays inside, especially after heat has been applied. If I am using an especially loose pack or very dry goods I may suck the stem as I fit it in the joint. That is also how I fill it. Or I hold the joint facing up and place Venus on it. So, it turns out not to be a concern after all. :)

That's not what I read. Apparently the LG can handle 35A continuous and 50A peak and there are some official company documents around going in that sense. For some reason they chosed to market them as 20A peak instead. The VapPower I'm using are rebadged LG cells and they are labelled 35/50.

Anyways, they should be fine in the Zion whatever the real C rating, provided you source genuine ones and not fakes (that's why I prefer VapPower, it's chinese but they did the right sourcing for you... compare that to buying from aliexpress or amazon LG cells from a small vendor not even selling in bulk, where your risks are way higher)

Here's a quick and dirty video of Loki in action with my Eross 4point0 En4cer. Sorry for the bad lighting. Stay tuned, more to come. Thanks again to @Ratchett for the adaptor being used. Unfortunately this setup doesn't lend itself to horizontal video.

word, Amazon is just not the place to get legit batteries, though I imagine it's possible. I use rtdvapor.com -- they've proven time and again to buy direct from vendors and only carry legit batteries. Nice to put my mind at ease. I would recommend light hound, but they appear to have closed their doors :( guess that leaves orbtronic?

All the literature I read, including documents from LG only show 30A continuous as the top, and both point to 20A being nominal (continuous). Like this one. Not trying to knock these batteries. Would you say they're better than VCT4's in performance, then?

Man that's a nice rip. Glad to see Loki stretchin his legs.

Had a question sort of. Sorry if this has already been addressed, I have skimmed some of this thread in its making, but not much.

Will you be building all of these with a competent team? Like, is there only you and karma who know how to build these? How many units do you guys feel comfortable making? How many people have pre-ordered?

I am totally sold on finding that on-demand convection experience, and see a lot of GH defectors heading here. I am sort of on the fence, as that lifetime warranty yall are dangling till the 16th is really enticing... But if you guys get flooded with a few thousand orders, I am curious if that would be an issue, as it obviously has been for GHL.
