I just got 2, count'em TWO!, rolls of Titanium wire 0.4mm i.e. ~ 26 AWG. Cleaning with ISO works well. The most interesting thing was that I get none of the Nickel chest tightness with either Titanium wire. It feels very open, maybe better than Kanthal. I'm done with Nickel wire, I think. Ti seems good.

On the controllers that lack a specific Titanium setting, just subtract 90 degrees when setting target temp, and you'll be in the ballpark. With Nickel I was often using 420F, it's below the cellulose singe temp. So with Titanium I use 330F, and it's close enough.

Another interesting thing is how different the "physique" of the two Grade 1 wires is, the two coils shown here were wound and compressed similarly. The ENVY Spider's Silk wire on the right is less springy, easier to work with.

Although ENVY's story about the competition's dread acid cleaning is silly marketeering, I mean HF acid is so reactive with everything that it surely cannot still be waiting on the wire to harm you, and doesn't everyone wash & rinse their wire, but they do deliver a clean and precisely drawn wire.

@Fredster951 i love it so far, the temp control is incredible. I'm waiting to get my hands on a new rda before I start using it for concentrates, something like a derringer or a REMatty. But using it with nickel atomizers has been a pleasure.

Sold the sigelei 100w for $70 so I can get a tc mod...where is the best/cheapest place to order from that won't take weeks? I know I can google search, but I want first hand experiences

Vapecrawler.com It's a product search and finds the site that is selling said product for the cheapest. Different sites sell different products for different prices... so it all depends on what you want.

I understand that, my thing is I'm looking for a known reliable site.
So while I could search online for the best PRICE, but that doesn't mean I am getting it from a reliable place incase anything happens.

ADDITION: I found this and wondered if it was a good mod to use
http://www.ecigaretteempire.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=sigelei75tc-0001&CartID=1
But they don't use paypal...always a red flag to me. Has anyone used this particular site?

because of this statement i looked around online a bit and found a video with a guy breaking it down. and it does appear that heating nickel does indeed release or "leache" nickel into the vapor. and that those small particles can sit dormant for years and CAN cause cancer.

he goes on to say how irresponsible the MFGs are (esp EVOLV) for even introducing this as an option for vapers. and they did so because at the time it was the only wire that worked with TC. but they dont give a shit. he talks about how they were on some show defending nickel wire, but they have done zero research and basically chalk it up to "just dont worry about it"...

needless to say. i am DONE with nickel wire and will be using Ti only moving forward.

here is the link to the info i found

@2clicker can't watch the video right now, is there any reference to what temp leaching may occur at?

Seems like that could happen when getting it glowing red like the ejuce guys do.

Ill start looking for Ti wire now.

Thanks.

I agree with everyones view on Ni200. @Joel W. Nickle leaching can happen w/o heat. The nickle will slowly desolve in present of acids. Which alot of ejuice flavoring contain. I also think pure Titianium is better for TC.

I been looking into SS317 welding wire, SS316L surgical wire.

any temp apparently. the guy goes on to say that is why humans dont use nickel for cooking/eating utensils. because its hazardous to put into your body. and easily leaches. check out the video when you get a chance. youll be happy you did.

Ti should be safe as long as it does not get hot enough to oxidize. a TC device will keep the Ti well under any dangerous levels. using Ti on an unregulated device...? DONT DO IT!

not saying you would just wanted to add that.

EDIT* this sucks because i have really started to enjoy building with nickel.

Just got a sigelei 75w tc offline...can't wait till it gets here! That and the new lily should keep me busy in the meantime. I hope I got the right mod and will do some thread searching for best rda and coil builds! Thanks everyone for the advice. ..I'll make sure I stay away from nickel too!

@2clicker, what have you found to be the best temp settings with Ti wire? iirc, you have the kiss AC also, right?

i do not have the kiss AC. i use ecig RDAs and build my own coils.

and i havent used Ti wire in weeks. been using nickel until i read more about its dangers. i will follow up with temp settings after a couple of days back into the Ti coil game. honestly tho i think these temps will vary depending on the device. i am currently using an Evic.

this reminds me that i never posted any pics of my Stubby RDA and coils. i went from a derringer to the stubby and im loving it. the two post design allows for a large coil to be built. and they are easily mountable. i loved my derringer, but there is such a limited space in there tonwork with. the stubby is about the same size as the derringer and provides more room for building.

Pics please! And some info on coil builds, I got a stumpy clone...hope it's as good. Hopefully I'll be able to dive in the game by monday...

Following up on the Ti discussion: After a brief consultation with Google, I'm seeing that Ti only starts to oxidize at heats way above what any Vape atomizer would put out. This is strictly regarding the health concerns, not whether you would wreck the atomizer or not. What in particular would be dangerous?

And more general questions, since I'm thinking the answers to my thread are to be found in here. I ended up getting the AC to go with an Innokin Coolfire IV. Everything looked good until I poked my head in here and started reading about TC. I can return the battery if I don't use it, but the TC units are moderate jump in price and I'm not fully convinced that I need it yet :D.

If someone has the AC with the right kind of battery, could they give me a respectable estimate of the other settings to get the temp they are reading, or are there too many variables?

And with my first question in mind, could I get within a fairly safe range (for my lungs, the unit, and my tasty wax) with VV/VW?

The box mod says that it has some protections built-in,for both the coil and battery. Are they really worth a damn for how we would use it?

Any help would be appreciated, including box mod/KISS tips.

i will try, but have been so busy. it may have to wait until i get some more wick. when i switched the Ni wire to Ti (after watching the video) i went with some FC2000 wick this time around. its been a while since ive used some so i decided to go that route with this build. and i gotta tell you im loving it. the flavor is slightly better than with RXW, but i did taste them side to side and the difference is pretty hard to tell.

oh and my stumpy is a clone as well. love that thing!

regarding Ti safety. i believe you are correct in that as long as the wire does not see temps higher than what we need to vape then there will be zero oxidation. of course however this means running the Ti wire on a TC device. if you run Ti on a vv/vw device you will be limited by how long of a rip you can take. basically even if you have the vv/vw device set at its lowest wattage then the coil can still get too hot causing oxidation. it will just take longer to get there. so if you know how long you can fire the device before the coil gets to the dangerous temps then that would work i guess. the problem i see is handing it to someone who does not have the technique down.

thats why TC is so important here. with a TC device you can set your max temp and fire away knowing the coil will NEVER get hot enough to oxidize the Ti. with a vv/vw device you can set it low, but if you continue to fire it it WILL get into those oxidation temps. make sense?

Pure Titanium grade 1-4 will start to produce dioxide @600 and does not melt it burns like a fuse, why you cant solder using pure titanium. Grade1 and 2 pure titanium is what we using in TC vaping. Titanium Alloy is what commonly use in Oil rig nails and a few companies also make a tit alloy vaping wire. They have a different response too Higher Temps and don't function like a model T-disruptor. :p

good looking device! Man $61.....with a nickle purity(TCR) setting. Can do tit to SS and maybe resistherm wire.

you thinking about the coating layer of oxidze it forms from air which is acatully protection layer.Titanium dioxide is differnt.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titanium_dioxide
Alot of info on Reddit, ECF, Vapingunderground, UKvaper. I have personnal destory titanium grade1 and 2 to see the dioxide.

P.S. I know this shit get's confusing.

Yeah, that article also says 600-800 Celsius, unless I'm mistaken.

Plus, when you really dig into more authoritative sources like OSHA or the CDC, it's not even clear that titanium dioxide would even be dangerous to us. Seriously. Most of the data has to do with particulate matter building up in the lungs of rats, and not "off gassing."

yeah we arent certain how dangerous the Ti oxidation truely is, but if you can avoid it altogether... why wouldnt you?

i have fired Ti on an unregulated device and it almost caught on fire. the wire gets red hot VERY fast and when cooled had a white/yellow/blue oxidation on it. you do not want this to make its way into the vape that is hitting your lungs. at least i dont.

we know Ti itself is not harmful when implanted into humans. in fact i believe its one of the inert materials we know of. when it does get too hot tho then theres a risk. at least that is how i understand it.

whatever you do tho... do not use Nickel!
